I wholeheartedly agree with you, Jo.. These days, we're bombarded with so much information, misinformation, and disinformation, not to mention misspelling of a lot of words, that the relegating of the Mass to a common rather than a proper noun is just another example of the shift in priorities... Certain acronyms seem to merit full capitalisation:. LOL, OMG, to mention just two. The Mass is a precious Sacrament for lots of people and deserves to be the proper noun it has always been. It's about respect, isn't it? Would anyone like it if another person consistently spelt their name incorrectly after having been told more than once how it was spelt? Or used a lower case letter to begin it? Of course not. It's about respect for the person and their name.
