During that period the record companies were pretty much hands off and let the artists create whatever they wanted. Back then each band look to create their own niche with their own unique sound so there was a lot of experimentation. The result was The who, led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King crimson, Jethro Tull, Genesis and many more. All of them were cranking out one great album after another. The best part back then, there wasn't any RU-vid or Internet. They had to constantly go on the road and play concerts to promote their music. I was lucky enough to live on Long Island which had the Nassau coliseum and was a train ride away from Madison square garden. It seemed like every other week another band came to town that we went to see. I also saw tull at radio City music Hall and Shea stadium (where the Mets used to play, and the Beatles played there). Gotta Love New York. I entered high School in 72, got spoiled, assumed the great music would just keep coming.

Yes is the best. There are a million live videos of Yes on youtube BTW. The singer, Jon Anderson, is around 79, but still sounding great and touring a lot with various bands and making lots of new music. He's on tour with The Band Geeks this summer doing mostly Yes stuff, I highly recommend going.

chris, the bass player suggested to Rick, keyboards, that he should wear a cape, because he looked like a demented stick insect when playing live....not only great musicians but fun too

I would steal from my mother's purse to go see YES...sorry mom, but no regrets. I subscribed in the hope that you will react to more YES. "Roundabout" is their "commercial success", but I would suggest you try some of their epic masterpieces that could not be played on the radio. Try "Starship Trooper" live...or "Awaken" from the album Relayer, where keyboardist (Rick Wakeman) plays on a gigantic pipe organ, in a Cathedral in Switzerland. The album, Close to the Edge, is probably the greatest album ever created, and should be listened to from beginning to end (3 songs). Can't wait!

Correction: "Awaken" is off the Going for the One album. Sorry.

I can't watch anyone react to them live unless they've heard the studio versions first.

To me (from the vinyl generation) the whole Fragile album is a great song. But pick another one and check! Any.

YES is the greatest progressive rock band in my opinion. I just subscribed. I subscribe to anyone who reacts to them as will many other YES fans so keep them coming. Loads of greats including "Awaken", "The Gates of Delirium", "Close to the Edge", "And You and I", "Turn of the Century", "Starship Trooper", "Perpetual Change", "The Revealing Science of God", lots more. The quality of this video is pretty poor. If you want to see a good live one check out "Awaken": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nDXccU0xgNo.html
