@@puarterquonder Yes had some really cool covers. You might be interested in two Hollies album covers. Distant Light is the one with Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress and then Romany was their next album. The two covers are the same scene. Distant Light is a boy playing with his toy sail boat on a small pond; Romany is the boy in a winter scene looking wistfully at the frozen pond and wishing for Spring and a chance to get his boat out again. Edit: It is funny how your mind can play tricks on you; I looked at the album covers and couldn't find the sailboat I 'knew' was there in the summer scene. The two covers ARE however the same scene taken at two different times of the year.

"YES" were one of the biggest progressive rock bands moving through the late 60's and into the 80's. They then reinvented themselves and created a more modern sound through the 80's and 90's. But they never lost their musical genius innovation. RIP "Chris Squire." He was a magnificent bass player! @@generationgapreacts Another good reaction to the leaders of "Prog Rock" who I saw headline a One Day Concert in a Football Stadium in West London in 1975:) That was enjoyable "Organised Chaos" and when you hear The Studio version, which is much, much smother then you will hear the difference. I love the fact that you like to see Rock Bands LIVE though. The song features references to Lakes and Mountains but these lyrics are open to interpretation. The cameraman seemed obsessed with Steve Howe on guitar even when Rick Wakeman was playing a keyboard solo. NOW as for Rick Wakeman, who once brought 36 yes 36 keyboards to a Gig,he is generally considered the Joint Number 1 Organist/Keyboard Player of all time like his fellow Englishman: Keith Emerson R.I.P with Jn Lord of Deep Purple, also English, being third. These are more of a Studio Group because it is soooo difficult(to me anyway) for them to replicate the sound and like Pink Floyd(in the Studio) you really should have headphones with these English Guys so ENJOY:)

Chris Squire was the Bassist and Rick Wakeman was the keyboardist. Chris was one of the greatest Bass players of all time and Rick was a great Pianist. This band was a huge inspiration for another Iconic band RUSH. So much so that when YES finally made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Geddy Lee the front man and bassist for RUSH, stood in for Chris Squire who died just before the band was inducted. The band played this song and Owner of a Lonely Heart after they were inducted, you should watch those videos in your spare time. RUSH is another band you should react to if you haven't already. Tom Sawyer, Closer to the Heart, Freewill, Limelight, Spirit of the Radio, Working Man, are just a few song suggestions. Tom Sawyer being their most popular and most recognized song. Good luck..

Yes is what you get when you assemble a band of virtuosos. Their studio work is incredible, especially the production on this song from the Fragile album, but having seen them live several times in the 70s, they always delivered a fantastic show. On one tour the stage was on a carousel set up in the middle of the arena. Throughout the concert the stage revolved so that there wasn't really a bad angle from any seat in the place.

And mom you must have heard their song "Owner of a lonely heart" I am now 70 years old and Yes was one of the bands that blew me away in the seventies. Their musicality of each band member. The keyboards by Rick Wakeman, the bass by Chris Squire, the unique voice of Jon Anderson, the guitars by Howe and Rabin, also the drums by Bruford and White. Their music is complex. with many tempo changes. I am a fan of prog rock like Genesis, Pink Floyd. And nowadays I am floored by Nightwish with my fellow dutchie Floor Jansen as their fantastic leadsinger and with the genius songwriter and composer keyboardist Tuomas Holopaainen and the musicality of the other band members. Having been a YES fan since the 1970's, the best advice I can give first time listeners is don't try to analyze the lyrics, of any YES songs. It will just give you a massive headache, and you will not figure any of it out. Just enjoy the sounds of their songs, and don't worry about the meaning. I've seen YES live four times, and it's always great, but this lineup: Jon Anderson-Vocals, Steve Howe-Guitar and Vocals, Chris Squire-Bass and Vocals, Rick Wakeman-Keyboards and Bill Bruford-Drums, is arguably the best lineup, to me anyway. I think you will enjoy the original studio recording even more, and thanks for doing the song.

YES were arguably the most progressive of the 70s prog bands, and my favourite band through my teens. The keyboardist was the great Rick Wakeman. Sure, there is a certain energy to the live performances of these rock bands that always makes them worth watching. But the musicianship of these guys comes out even more clearly on the studio albums. Don’t worry about not picking up clearly on Jon Anderson’s lyrics. They do take some disassembling and explorative interpretation even when you do know what the words are.

I honestly clicked on this video because you were doing the live version of this song … everyone else does the studio version, and though it’s well recorded and clean and sharp… I 💯% agree with you about seeing musicians perform live . I generally get a live a recording when I’m just getting into a band to see if they really have the chops to play live without a ton of studio tricks. You were right on the nose noticing the amazing Chris Squire on bass right off the bat…he was one of a kind and was the inspiration for so many bassists afterward. Every musician is tops on their instruments. As far as the lyrics … Keep in mind the singer, Jon Anderson writes lyrics for the sounds the words make in context to the musical piece. They don’t always make sense. You’ll definitely love the studio version … don’t get me wrong, but I SO appreciated you doing a live version. You both got the essence of YES in your reaction. Great job 👍.

I have a fun time watching you two watch my favorite music. These guys have so many subtleties inn their music, that they get lost in the live versions unless you know what to listen for. Regarding the lyrics, they would confuse you if you understood them because Jon Anderson (singer) writes in puzzles. This sound is about the feeling he gets arriving home from a tour, and he counts the "roundabouts" (a traffic feature in the UK that allows one to navigate intersections without stopping) on his way home to see his family. He knows at a certain point he's almost home. If you read the lyrics, you're still unlikely to unravel that meaning from them. I recently met the keyboardist, Rick Wakeman, and simply put, he's the nicest man on the planet. He has two sons who play keyboards almost identically to him, and his eldest was a member of Yes for a short while. His daughter is also a singer. Great fun, thank you!

Four virtuoso musicians and the wonderful voice of Jon Anderson...great riffs & rhythms, harmonies and songs which take twists and turns. However as you rightly note the sound quality is awful...there are much better live versions of Roundabout when the band members were considerably older. I'm impressed that you were still able to identify the brilliance of Yes...I think you will love the studio version. The song is about a road journey from Aberdeen to Glasgow in Scotland. Yes has been my favorite band since 1976. I have seen them twice in concert. They are truly a singular, and unique band. Every member is off the charts fabulous musicians. The bassist, Chris Squire (he just passed last year, RIP) is one of a kind. His tone on the bass is unparalleled. If you think this song took you on a journey, you should try Close to the Edge. It is considered by many, many people to be the best progressive rock album ever. The title track, Close to the Edge is the only song on the first side of the album (the second side only has two songs, And you and I, and Siberian Khatru ) is absolutely fabulous. but they have so many great songs, such as "Starship Trooper", "Yours is No Disgrace", "Awaken", "Gates of Delirium", and my second favorite album is a double album with only FOUR songs, (one song per album side) "Tales From Topographic Oceans". But those are 'graduate level' songs. I would recommend starting with "Long Distance Runaround" or "I've Seen All Good People". But strap in, Yes will certainly take you on a journey.

Check out Owner of a Lonely Heart Live at the Apollo. It was recorded in 2016. The only original members were Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman. Chris Squire, the bassist passed away in 2015. Jon Anderson's voice at 72 years old is as good as it was 50 years ago.

Another good reaction to the leaders of "Prog Rock" who I saw headline a One Day Concert in a Football Stadium in West London in 1975:) That was enjoyable "Organised Chaos" and when you hear The Studio version, which is much, much smother then you will hear the difference.

Beautiful reaction. They are the best band ever, please check more. From my point of view, the best current band it’s called Band-Maid, an all-female Japanese band that I recommend to check out, any song, but if you want to see them live my recommendation goes to Dominantion - official live video. Thx 👍

You liked the bass line... You'll be saying that a lot as you listen to more Yes. Chris Squire sound and style was revolutionary at the time. He was playing an instrument that just happened to have four strings. He used all sorts of effects and pedals and the Rickenbacker bass was the perfect vehicle for him to experiment with. Roundabout was first song on the Fragile album. The guitar intro is done with an acoustic guitar, very soft... Then suddenly the bass kicks in with one of the most iconic bass lines ever written. On the studio version the bass is brought to the forefront in the mix, outright in your face. That bass line is the scaffolding the other instruments hang from. This is one song you should listen to the studio versions first.

Hi Ladies♥ I'm a 64 year old Keyboardist and in 1972 ,when the album with this song on it came out, I was hooked on Rick Wakemans playing. If you want to see most of them, with Getty Lee on Bass, watch the 2017 Rock-a-Roll Hall of Fame Concert where they play this song 😎

I’ve been a Yes fan since the early 70’s. Every member of the band is a genuine virtuoso on their respective instruments. You guys should give Close to the Edge a try. It is one of the most influential pieces of music ever.

This song always takes me back to a beautiful March morning in 1974. Rose Bay campground South of Daytona, Florida. My brother and I had loaded our motorcycles in my truck to go and race them and this song came over the radio. Such a beautiful day! Life just doesn't get much better or more exciting than that.

My 3 favorite rock keyboard players are Rick Wakeman because if this song, Keith Emerson (Emerson, Lake & Palmer), and Jon LORD (Deep Purple). My recommendations would be Emerson, Lake & Palmers "Karnevil No.9 - 1st Impression, Part 2" and "Lucky Man." Very contrasting sings, but you'll appreciate the full breadth of ELP. Enjoy!

I am SO glad you chose the live version! First time viewing on your channel. Great reaction! What an incredible performance and incredible composition! I saw this band perform live in 1978. They played in the round, on a rotating stage, with singer Jon Anderson in the center. Amazing show! I hope to see more reactions to this band. Subscribing! Also, I am surprised to see that you haven't reacted to The Warning yet. So much of what you said, especially about bands that are best experienced live on a stage and about great bass lines, tells me you will love this rock power trio. The band has been together just over nine years, but the bandmembers have been together a lot longer... because they are sisters!! As you might guess, the synergy is phenomenal. When they started out as the band they are today, the bassist had just turned nine. Today, they are ages 18, 20, and 22. The Warning have a varied catalogue of original songs, from bangers to ballads. If I were to recommend a song for a first reaction to this band, I would probably choose something mid-career, such as "Dust to Dust", performed live at Lunario CDMX in 2018, from their second LP. I invite you to meet the Villarreal sisters, Alejandra, Paulina, and Daniela, The Warning!

Excellent reaction - have a like and a subscribe - and I'm glad you chose a live performance that was more or less contemporary with the album's release even if the director failed to realise that one of rock's most accomplished drummers was giving his usual faultless performance. But you have to listen to Close To The Edge. The whole album. It'll take you somewhere no other music can.

They were such a Prog Rock band, they didn't have much of a female audience. Concerts were like 80% males who were music nuts. Whereas the females liked the love ballad and folk rock bands more in those days.
