Saw this tour in 74 at Barton Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Tripping on mushrooms in the first couple of rows. This was general admission without seats so we were in and out from the stage. Had to see this to believe it. They were totally a band for those with chemical enlightenment. Haha now 65 and still kill to Yes
Wilson really brought this one to life. I've never liked the original mix/production on this album, it always seemed so muffled. Mr. Wilson has brought a lot more top end, and clarity to everything. The drums are incredible now. I've always wanted to hear this version of this album. Thank you, Steven, for "making it so".
Me too. Get some Old Advents. And then refoam them/ Get some old school preamps and amps. Then play this from vinyl or CD. The world has moved on, but this music has not. It remains the very best......of the best.
Listening to this now... in 2022...... thru a pair of NLA...New Large Advents..... IMHO .........the best affordable speaker of the ERA. The SOUND is just SUPERB....immersive... The music, the speakers inherent ability.,,,,,,,,,to play YES.......
I come back to this track, again and again. This was a very influential album . Back in the 70s, at UGa.... back when I first got a hold of some Advent speakers and a good amp.
Read why all the other Eddie Offord productions were crystal clear except Topographic Oceans - a 24 track desk was being used for TFTO; it was one of the first 24's and it had lots of bugs. Thankfully the multitracks were kept and SW could fix it with his work magic. Nice unit there. Looks like a Fluance loaded with a red Ortofon.
This finally sounds like a modern recording with true dynamics, not a mashed down pancake. Chris's bass is actually beefy like usual, and all the drums and cymbals are audible. Ive listened to this song probaby 500 times in its 50 year exisistence.
Excellent upload and despite being sourced from vinyl there is no crackle or stylus noise at all. The digital download from youtube can be burned to a CD and listened to on any domestic CD player through whatever speakers are available, the louder the better.
Genius ! Uma pena não terem gravado soundboard o show todo dessa tour . Tipo caso de álbum e show que quanto mais o tempo foi passando , melhor ele foi ficando !
Israel, Stunningly good sounding upload! Still using the Mani phono preamp? I would be surprised, as It doesn't sound like a Mani to me. Now, In the remix Wilson pushed Chris Squire's bass forward. Also sounds sweeter than typical - the commercial releases can be a bit papery. ¡Gracias! - Sandy
Sorry, I don't have the audio files anymore, but there are many pages where you can download RU-vid videos, just do a google search, here's one: y2mate.guru/en8/
He did, I made a video of his remixed version of The Gates Of Delirium, you can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GQDOvHUCC98.html
Hey, can someone tell me what the story is behind the "remix"? I'm assuming this is not remixed from the original studio tracks, but rather someone tweaking an album recording? I used to do that for my own cassette recordings when I was a kid wanting to be a recording engineer in the 70s... My ears aren't as practiced as they used to be -and of course I'm listening over the internet- but I mostly hear more power in the lower spectrum and I think some artifacts in the higher end of the synthesizers(?). Not trying to be an ass; this could be from recording and posting, so I'm really just curious about the process... Thanks ...one of my favorite albums of all times and I just sort of randomly found this (YAY!)
Desgraciadamente..Steven Wilson...el solo d Wakeman, en La ciencia d Dios', me lo ha estropeado..No se si poco o mucho, pero me gusta mas, es mas brutal, sin Wilson, ablandando todo...
