I am writing from 2022-I am now 62 years old-this is the music of my youth.( I live in Pussia\former URSS) And it is ETERNAL.This music is so beautiful that it will pass into the future when there will be no us and these young boys who created this beautiful music.I am so grateful to them for their music-they have graced my life!!!
These young boys... Jon Anderson is 78, poor Chris Squire passed away at 67 from leukaemia almost 8 years ago. These guys were (and are) my heroes, and Yes music was my religion growing up (and still is). I'd like to think that they are immortal, but alas...
it's simple , mundane even , but we forget it .. that's why ... for me it's is to life be even bolder line ... that's not something you hear everyday , but should ...
@@djamz1 Welcome! This is my favourite band of all time. I believe they have at least 1 song that someone will enjoy (even if you don’t count anything after ‘80)! This was the first song I heard that wasn’t from Fragile.
And an unusual drummer, with those toms flat like that. In 1985 I got to stand about 10 feet from him while he tuned up his drums before a local show. Neat memory - he was with Pat Moraz. Hell of a show.
@@bobfitzpatrick8952 ~ Yea ...Bill is my favourite drummer of all time!! His pic is the 'Wallpaper' on my phone!! Seen him 3x ...'Earthworks', 'Crimson' '83, and 'ABWH' ~ '89 Great drummer! Great, _Great_ drummer! Entertaining, Fun, Tricky, tight, unique, great audience interaction, and HE LOVED HIS WORK!!!! Kind of a looker TOO! A real 'GUY'! Still married to his 1972 bride Carolyn. l would have LOVED to see him with Genesis in '77 !!!!!!! l love PROG! Seen Zappa 4x too!! xD
@@theresa42213 I've seeen him three times also: Earthworks(02)(where I talked to him very breifly and had my cd sound of surprise signed), ABWH and Union(91). I saw KC twice but he was not in the band by the time I saw them(95 and 01).
I’m 60. I had great roommates. I told them I loved the Yes album, and they said, well what about the earlier stuff?!?! Also helped me discover early Genesis. Wow!
This is my fav early Yes video. Jons get up, and Chris and Tony switching instruments, and of course Steve Howe in the video, but Peter Banks on the record. Wonderful music. Silly, silly people.
Yes! Our bodies manifest what is in our hearts and minds. Anderson's lyrics always had way more to them than many people give him credit for. Do not give in to hate!✊💪🤝👍😍
@@s1d299 I don't know. There appear to be a great many people willing to give 'thumbs down' to virtually anything. There are many people who love hate and hate love...
I was surprised, too, and looked him up on wiki...to quote: "In addition to bass, Squire also occasionally played harmonica, piano and guitar" What a mammoth talent. And so majestic in both skill and stature; he makes his bass look like a small toy.
Bloody heck, I didn't know that. Thank you. OT: never noticed before how much Bruford looked like young film star Mark Lester (played the title orphan waif in "Oliver!").
@@JeffersonLeeEng There's a certain type of satisfaction you get from playing something that's musically complicated/cerebral. I can see why Bruford preferred King Crimson.
@@cristianvilches245 Agree! People would deffo fight over him vs. Neil Peart (and then some clown would undoubtedly throw John Bonham in there for some ungodly reason) but in my mind he’ll always be #1.
I keep expecting Michael Palin, with a long, gray beard, to come running out of the ocean, then struggle up the beach to the camera, and declare, "It's..."
Many years later Dylan Howe would supplement White on drums during one tour and he had that original YES logo on his bass drum too. Nice nostalgic thing to do.
@@zachsmith3 No, Steve Howe's son, Dylan, who is a drummer and played drums on one Yes tour in recent years to back up Alan White when Jay Schellen wasn't available.
Tony Kaye on bass, Chris on keyboards, Steve on guitar. He who hasn't been on the Time and a Word album. And Bill is the happiest, freezing to death in this wind. And Chris's fall, in the end, was real. What fun!
lronman KMSA~ Yup! Bruf was All yes purists favorite because he's a great, GREAT drummer. l always thought Yes should have replaced Bill with a jazz drummer. A jazz drummer like Bill would have fit better and l ain't afraid to say it. :D
John Alex~ l could see him saying that. l know that _for him_ leaving the group WAS the best decision he could have made. He developed a hell of a lot with Crimson...and his chops just got better and better. He is not ''thee best'' drummer around.... but he is my favorite, because of the way he interacted with the audience all three times l saw him live. He's a powerhouse... with gobs of charisma and a great smile! Those 'Bruins' overalls were pretty dang cool too! XD
😂😂😂. No, amigo!
Love these early Yes videos. I never really got into their first two albums, but the older I get the better they sound. This video and the others from this time period is icing on the cake. Legendary!!
Great song from early Yes. I became a fan in 71, and never got the chance to see them until the Relayer tour a few years later. Outstanding! I saw them many times until the incarnations began substituting for Jon's ill health. I have to hand it to Davidson on a video I caught he sounded more like Jon than others they subbed in.
How can this music be fun, creative and serious all at the same time?! This is a powerful gem :) Love is the only Answer, hate is the root of cancer, then.
We must be thankful for that song. After that, the world would know Squire as top 5 bass player in the world and Kaye top ten keyboarder.... Then everything came together.
i grew up with my dad’s well-loved copy of the Yesterdays comp, and this was my favorite song on the LP. absolutely wonderful stuff! think its silly Steve is in this video but didnt play on the song. TAAW is one of Yes’s most underrated albums in my opinion.
I had never seen this clip before. Look at Chris go on those Hammond keys! And it was nice to see a closeup of Bill's hands on the sticks. We were all so young then. That fall looked like it hurt, though.
This is my fav early Yes video. Jons get up, and Chris and Tony switching instruments, and of course Steve Howe in the video, but Peter Banks on the record. Wonderful music. Silly, silly people. Wonder whose idear it was...
One of my very favorite songs by Yes, such a great line up. I am a Bill Bruford fan and I believe his drumming with Yes, like on this song for example, is his best work.
RIP Chris Squire, an awesome musician. I remember hearing him talking about Trevor Horn having the nightmare of going to Madison Square Garden, and Chris being the coach saying "Don't worry son you can do it, it'll be alright, it'll be alright".
Somewhere nearby, an old man is yelling, "Get out my yard you little a-holes!"....... R.I.P. to all of the YES members stolen by Time's inevitable grasp.
