Audio dropouts finally repaired for this "wonderous" concert from Yes in Glasgow, 1977
This is an excellent show with Yes completely on top of their game with a very enthusiastic crowd. And the video plays better on TV than on the RU-vid clips so don't underestimate this show because even though it was filmed from the audience it was done so by someone obviously experienced - and it's a GREAT show. There are no other recordings that show this much of a Going For The One Tour show in existence.
If you are a collector or simply LOVE Yes and are looking for anything else Yes that's not available in stores I HIGHLY recommend this DVD set

I wasn't going to pen this but here goes. I listened to this song for almost four straight days in December 1998 when I lost my first wife to cancer. I was Roan. I cried incessantly. But just like Roan in the song this was catharsis for me. I was able to pull through in large part from this song. Such is the magic of Yes music. It is now 2021 and I can remember those days in 1998 like they were yesterday. And sad thoughts have been replaced by fond parts and meaning, just like in the song. Cheers.

When I saw this tour at the LA Forum, I felt like a metaphysical nerve ending and when they played And You & I, during Steve Howe's steel peddle segment I started crying and couldn't hold it back. That freaked me out @ 17 years old never experiencing emotions that way... Then I felt someone shove my shoulder and turning around to see who was some kid, my age with a big smile, He said "Yes!" and gave me a dude hug. I wasn't embarrassed anymore and that became my clearest memory of that night all those many years ago. Peace

Sarah Fields, I know Exactly what you mean; I was doing just that when I read your comment. At Least *half* the times I hear this song, when they sing in harmony (after 3:40 here): "I'm sure we know_____.," I practically sob. It's almost blasphemy to call this "Rock & Roll," isn't it?

TURN OF... In Ovid's narrative poem Metamorphoses, X, Pygmalion was a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved. The Yes lyrics (1977) tells the story of the sculptor Roan who, in the grief of his wife's death, "molds his passion into clay." The sculpture of his wife comes to life and they fall in love. For the poetry gifts and habilities of Jon Anderson, we can hear this myth renewed, in this very beautiful song, both music and lirically. I love it. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.

Yes, like The Who, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Renaissance, ELP, Traffic, The Doors, Jeff Beck, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull, were always great at reproducing and, at times, surpassing their studio recordings. This is obviously an indication of true dedication and genuine musicianship. We will probably never see their like again in, as the great Steve Howe used to say, "the rock field."

We've got this big orchestral ballad going on. Steve's playing all the perfect melodies on his acoustic. Then he says, "F" this, give me my Les Paul. Then he proceeds to rip off the perfect soaring crescendos like it's two completely different songs. While he's not the only guitarist that can do that. He's the only one that would.

Realising a form out of stone, Set hands moving. Roan shaped his heart, Through his working hands. Worked to mold his passion into clay, Like the sun. In his room, his lady, She would dance and sing so completely. "So be still," he now cries, "I have time, oh let clay transform thee so." In the deep cold of night, Winter calls, he cries "Don't deny me!" For his lady, deep her illness. Time has caught her, And will for all reasons take her. In the still light of dawn, she dies. Helpless hands soul revealing. Like leaves we touch, we learn. We once knew the story. As winter calls he will starve, All but to see the stone be life. Now Roan, no more tears. Set to work his strength, So transformed him. Realizing a form out of stone, His work so absorbed him. Could she hear him? Could she see him? All aglow was his room, Dazed in this light. He would touch her, He would hold her. Laughing as they danced, Highest colors touching others. Did her eyes at the turn of the century, Tell me plainly. How we'll meet, how we'll love, Oh, let life so transform me. Like leaves we touch, we dance. We once knew the story. As autumn called and we both, Remembered all those many years ago. I'm sure we know. Was the sign in the day with a touch, As I kiss your fingers. We walk hands in the sun, Memories when we're young, Love lingers so. Was it sun through the haze, That made all your looks, As warm as moonlight? As a pearl deep your eyes, Tears have flown away, All the same light. Did her eyes at the turn of the century, Tell me plainly. When we meet, how we'll look, As we smile time will leave me clearly. Like leaves we touch, we see, We will know the story. As autumn calls we'll both remember, All those many years ago.

This is the quietest and most present I've ever heard a Glasgow or Scottish audience. Imagine playing that incredibly you get us glaswegians to pin drop silence 🤣. Love this, not a massive fan of some prog rock, but this is just beautiful and another level! ♥️

Saw this at the Spectrum in Philly. Simply breathtaking. I’m still working on the guitar parts.

Thank You. I've always remembered how, unlike the LP (and it was a 12 inch record), Steve did the ending on an electric guitar that sounded like a violin.
