Haha, i did warn you re: the floor heights. Mine isnt supported by the step either however, with the ply being open/not edged on the bottom im glad for the gap so it doesnt soak up any water that may run on the step during slide door use.

We also chose EVO Design for our kitchen, the V5 (it has the built in oven), OSMO for the bamboo worktop. Those instructions!! We also got the x3 lockers, tall fridge cupboard and 3 sheets of laminated ply for our bathroom. NOT CHEAP!!! But really does give a professional finish. GOOD LUCK!!

I've got to hand it to you for taking this project on, the labour hours must be stacking up now! I love a good DIY project but I don't think my patience would have stretched this far! Looking forward to see it when it's finished!

Your van’s coming on well. I use 3 coats of tung oil on my office bamboo worktop, absolutely brilliant, very hard wearing no stains whatsoever.

It looked like the heat exchanger is designed to pass the cabin heat over the exchanger and then into the cabin. It will take a long time to heat the water and so it also heats the van. So close to the heater and ducted into the van after the exchanger would do that well. Otherwise the heat is dumping into the garage.

Just treated my Oak worktops with Treatex Hardwax Oil Ultra. I think it would work for Bamboo. Got excellent results.

I think we have stumbled on the perfect camping solution. We had a transporter sized van professionally converted and it has proved perfect, even on the narrowest roads of the NC500, which we have done several times now. Size wise for accommodation, it is o.k. for the wife and I but we wanted to take the grandkids and others on occasion, which proved problematic for space. The solution was a 4 berth fixed bed caravan. We now pull it with the campervan, so we have the best of all worlds now. Space when we need it and parking ability and manoeuvrability when we want to explore more rural isolated areas, or a mixture of both, using the camper van as a day out type van and the caravan as the base and if additional beds are needed, the campervan can accommodate that as well. The camper van is also an extremely good towing vehicle, with no passing traffic suck and the ability to travel right up to the 60 mph speed limit, without caravan waggle.

Love the kitchen colour & bamboo top but glad we didn’t go with Evo. There was no customer service prior to buying & those instructions look naff for an expensive unit!!! We ended up with Majestic wood design (near Bristol) & what a difference, pre built & custom/scribed to whatever you like for similar money.

Definitely get that Bamboo oil treated soon, before you get some permanent marks on it. Had one in our T5.1, re-oiled it once a year and it looked new even after 7 years.

Good morning Shaun, first of all, my latest vlog was about our Evo design delivery, the amount that was missing and how bad the instructions were! I'm also surprised to see your kitchen unit comes down to the step at all. Mine doesn't! Anyway, on the subject of bamboo worktops, we have ordered one too and also had one for our previous build of our T6. I used a Ronseal matt varnish to seal it and it was ideal. No water marks or stains and it looked great too. I see they do an ULTRA TOUGH WOOD VARNISH at the moment, which looks similar. I've gotta go now, I'm off to ring Evo yet again!! 😆Good luck with the rest of the build.

Ahh just watched your vlog and you’ve certainly had an ordeal. We had one bit sent that was wrong and they fixed it straight away but it is annoying that you actually have to start building it to work out if you’ve got all the right pieces. Like you say they need to number the pieces. I had one bit left over 😳 Yours looks like it’s approaching the finish line now. 🙌

It isn’t hard with some basic knowledge and tools to build a kitchen for a fraction of the cost plus it would fit perfectly. Moreland ply is my board of choice supplier. A cheap track saw, kreg pocket hole jig and a tidy drill/driver would be your tools. Nice colour tho 😍

It is quite hard for us to have that sort of time to plan and build one though. Full time job plus two very young kids makes time harder to come by. We are doing the best we can with the time we have for the build.

Use Osmo Top Oil for your work surface.

Came to comment to recommend osmo oil, beaten to it. They have a worktop oil that hygienically seals the wood. We use it on our dining table. Water just forms droplets on the surface.

I’m sure the vent is for the gas Hot air rises, gas is heavy and will fall to the floor in the event of a leak

@@ABusAndBeyond you could just add a couple of blocks to the base section underneath the unit to give it extra support and also an LED strip to give it a nice glow at night

12volt appliances are an absolute con. Shore power do under counter 12v fridge and freezers and they are basically the cheapest LEC appliances with a 12v compressor fitted and a price of £550 plus.
