Whoo Yeah, finally Bakugou is getting kicked off his high horse. Being a hero isn't about being the best, it's about protecting those who can't protect themselves, he needed to learn that. This exactly what I've looking for! Awesome!

I remember this scene in the book. I loved it. I was so glad Aizawa called him out. I've always wondered why Bakugo didn't just become a villain. Should've been a canon scene.

My favorite very subtle detail is Aizawa watching Bakugo pound the desk, and then the unimpressed, bored, tired way he looks up at Bakugo's face for the rest of the animatic. A very good subtle moment, showing that he isn't cowed or moved at all.

oh my god so, funny story, like a week ago i saw this video and didn't think much of it. i was like yeah that's cool but i don't know what's going on. and just an hour ago, while reading through yuts for the first time, i read this scene and died because "wowow wait, i saw a video of this" then spent a good hour just now looking for it. this makes me so happy oh god

I believe that deep down. It was Midoriya who made Bakugo strive to become a hero instead of becoming a villain. As before they had their quirks, or before Midoryia was claimed quirkless, Izuku looked up to Bakugo. And saw Kaa-chan as someone strong and really cool. Bakugo liked that, having a fan. The feeling of being adored. But when Midoryia didn’t develope a quirk and looked to all might, he idolized the #1 hero and thus Kaa-chan lost his #1 fan. He felt betrayed and thus hated Izuku for ‘betraying’ him. But thought to become #1 hero. Deep down I think Bakugo wants to be Midoriya’s #1 again. And he believes that overthrowing all might will do that. To show he is strong, cooler, and better than all might, to prove that Midoryia should have idolized Bakugo all along instead of all might. I think this has been theorized before but I just thought I’d bring it up.

There’s a reason why I love that fic so much. Seeing everything laid down like this reminds me. I’m probably gonna be reading it again for the sixth time tonight.

The fact that I read the entire fanfic in a span of less than a week was surprising like it's so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. The fact that it could also easily tie to canon just makes it even better, I loved how Izuku was characterized in the fanfiction. His interaction with Ragdoll was so wholesome. oh shit i remember reading this and think "YES,,, YESSSS DRILL THIS INTO HIS HEAD GODDAMN" also good background music choice that doesn't distract from the seriousness of the scene ive known some artists to go over the top with something to fast beat or loud. The song allows you to view this at whatever speed you normally do.

I'm kind of liking Yesterday Upon the Stair more than the original anime/manga. Like, Ragdoll actually has a bigger role in this story than in the original. And, on top of seeing more of her quirk, she's a friggin badass to boot!

Bakugou probably just wants to be the #1 hero because it's like a surefire way to ensure that 3/4 of the world will kiss his ass. He lives in a society where lots of people are aiming to become heroes from childhood. It's something to look up to and admire, and Bakugou, placed on a pedestal all his short life, was told he would grow up to be a great hero, not because he had a good heart, but because he had a good quirk. He was raised with lots of praise and little-to-no reprimanding. He genuinely seems to lack empathy because it doesn't seem like he was taught to have it, and not developing empathy in early childhood is a recipe for a narcissistic personality. So then, why would he use his powers for anyone but himself? What other reason apart from feeding his ego is there to be a hero? Plus, what exactly is a hero? Izuku and Katsuki both looked at All Might, the number one hero, and took two completely different interpretations. Bakugou thought, "Yeah. That's what it means to be a hero -- winning." Being on top, above all the other heroes and above all the villains, would make him the strongest and the best -- which is precisely what he wants. Deku, on the other hand, thought a hero must be someone who rescues and stays strong for the hopeless. The latter seems more ideal and agreeable, yet Bakugou got the green light because he has the great quirk. Izuku had a good heart but no quirk, therefore he was told he couldn't be a hero. So is a hero someone with a good quirk? Or a good heart? Is it someone who genuinely wants to help but won't necessarily be able to, or someone who might not care but will help either way? What about those in it for the money and fame? Bakugou certainly isn't the only one whose primary focus isn't saving people. Why did I write a mini-essay at 5am? Am I high? The world may never know.

It's because of this that I found the fic. It's now one of my favorites. Bless this video.

I wish, Aizawa would've said this to him in the "no such a thing as a painless lesson" titled fan comic. Maybe he will, I really hope for it. And we need MORE of THIS Aizawa in the anime and manga.
