What advice do you have for someone who wants to start a podfic channel but has never done it before/ has no experience in voice recording. I ask because I love your voice and you do a wonderful job reading them.
Im terrible at responding to comments so sorry I took so long! 😖 As for advice, a few things: -When it comes to microphones, you get what you pay for, ie if you buy a $5 mic off of Wish, it'll show in your audio. Dont be afraid to invest and splurge on something a little pricey. Your listeners will thank you for it! -Dont be scammed by those copyright free music websites. You can always find free copyright music if you know where to look. You dont have to sign up to get that. -Vocal exercises! I watched a few videos to walk me through some basic ones so warm up with. -Audible is a godsend. And its free. -When you first hit record, let your mic record the ambient noise of wherever you are recording for about 30 seconds. When you finish recording, you can use that 30 seconds as a sample to filter out a TON of unwanted background noise. -Don't be afraid to look up how stuff is said. Trust me - if you say it wrong in the recording and then learn the correct way to say it later, listening to yourself say it wrong will get on your last nerve. -Have fun with it! Try out different voices and audio effects! Distinguishing characters is important, but that doesn't mean it has to be a chore 😂 Hope this was helpful!
