I agree Molly! Love island receive 100,000+ applicants and I am sure many of those men would find women of all races attractive. But they keep selecting men with a specific type, eg blonde women, whilst knowingly selecting other women who fall outside that description.

I'm sorry but it's not the producers fault these men prefer girls who are not black, unfortunately a lot of men even the black ones won't choose a black girls if their are other races in the Mist. I think that's the REAL conversation that people don't want to talk about. Even the ones that like black girls they will come on the show and still choose the none black girl. I agree it is upsetting to see but we need to talk about the hatred in put community for each other, other races must be wondering why the black contestants never initially go for each other

It is the producers fault. If they only choose boys who like “petite short women”, then taller girls have no chance. If they only choose boys who like “younger women”, then older women have no chance. If they only choose boys who like “blonde women”, then brunettes/Asians/black people have no chance. It’s common sense. Love island receive 100,000+ applications (more applications than Oxbridge). Many of those boys will have diverse attraction to women. However, the producers continue to select boys who fancy the same type of women, whilst knowingly selecting women who fall outside this description. Select boys who are open to dating women of all races (rather than just blonde women). Even the new arrival whose type was “Anthony Joshua” is so specific and it’s better for them to cast people who are open to dating people from all races and backgrounds. This would actually make the show far more interesting and far less predictable.

@@xandykkaudy8252 a) the producers PICK the cast. In order to do so, they interview them. While interviewing, they ask about their relationship history, types and preferences. How could it possible NOT be their fault that all the men initially brought into the house ALL immediately clarify that they prefer "blondes with blue eyes" or "brunettes"? Other TV shows manage to cast in a way that doesn't immediately eliminate any chance a black girl might have had to find a match. Watch the current season of Love Island US for example. Both black women on that show are brown/dark-skinned and received immediate attention from both black and non-black men. Kaz and Yewande and Rachel and Samira are just as beautiful and interesting as those ladies; the only difference is that the producers of LI US actually bothered to choose men who either specifically prefer black women or genuinely have no racial preference. Men who love black women EXIST. They aren't rare. The fact is that the LI UK producers did not do their due diligence, continue not to do their due diligence, and that is on them. b) It's actually interesting you point out that a lot of men of all races ostensibly prefer non-black women, and even go so far as to blame the black community for that, but can't do the actual critical work to examine why those racist preferences exist. A big part of it is media portrayal. The same media trends that allow the producers of LI to obliviously fill their "diversity" quota of black women without actually considering what those black women's experiences will be like being stuck in a house with men who have stated they aren't their preferences. Those same media trends that reinforce the idea that black women are undesirable and unlovable. I know that isn't true, yet shows like LI carelessly perpetuate the notion, and people like you do nothing to dispel it.

As a black woman who is average-looking and slim, all you need to do is walk out of your house to find out. There has never been a shortage of men of all races that like black women...women are women after all...so why does this keep happening...see Teddy, for example, we all know who he fancied more and that's Rachel, if the producers had left him alone, guess who he would have picked. A man that is open to all races of women will not leave an average black girl for an average white woman or an uglier one...these men have a type and its blond simple. You need to start looking at the situation rather than thinking the reason black girls are not picked is because when there are other races we are less attractive ...that is ridiculous...the amount of white boys that will give an arm to have a beautiful black woman...far outnumbers our population...i have said no to men that look better than the ones on love island...they are literally everywhere. Best personality? Fair enough she was attractive, but she had an awful personality. She treated Danny like garbage and said she got “annoyed when he tried to talk to her” Then when he realises she clearly doesn’t like him whatsoever and tries to move on. She acts all possessive and pretends she cares about him. Then when he made the choice to couple up with the girl who was kind to him as soon as she walked in. Yewande starts acting childish, sitting on Danny’s lap when he’s trying to talk to Arabella. She treated Arabella even worse, talking about her to the other girls, and whispering about her right in front of her. She genuinely had one of the worst personalities the whole season. And that’s saying something with the likes of Anton and Michael running around.

It’s annoying to see black women always getting picked last. It shouldn’t be normalized that black women are not considered “first pick”. On top of that, they also struggle with their mental health on the show; dealing with insecurities, rejection, and the fact that people don’t like them because of their complexion is tough.

Emily… you are uneducated man!! To reject someone purely on their skin colour is RACIST. A preference is open to all races but PREFERS a certain type. I.e I normally go for guys with blue eyes and brown hair BUT I would never reject an attractive black guy

@@anyani2 I’m fat in school I was picked last ALL THE TIME I know what it’s like to have the feeling that nobody wants you , I also grew up on a Asian street my family had to move cause of how we was treated my brother got smacked with a broom by a lady all because we was the only white family on the street and they didn’t want us there so don’t assume because I’m white I haven’t experienced anything
