Actually YG pays their artist the best compared to other companies. Usually its a 50/50 split. And also no worries, each blackpink members are worth US$8 million according to an article by HYPEBAE! Most articles says its US$2 million. But either way, they are rich! And thats only taking into account of their music careers as a band, not including their solo projects like modelling and representing fashion labels such as CELINE, CHANEL, DIOR, SAINT LAURENT! Haha. So its cool.

okay, so the video you are watching is pretty old... according to old clause in 2015, for the original trainee contract, it was stated that foreign artists would not be paid equally as compared to Korean artists, but now the clause has been changed... Also, after debuting under Blackpink, all the members get paid equally and enormously by their company YGE.... Due to their insane popularity, their shows are sold out in minutes, they tour extensively around the world, all sold out, and Lisa herself also gets insane Ad-revenue and multiple sponsorships and collaborations with International companis like 'Celine', 'Moonshot", 'AIS' to name a few..... Don't worry dude, Lisa's earning BIG BUCKS right now, and all is OK!!!

It is because of South Korean tax, employment & intellectual property rights laws not the record company YGE. Under South Korean law foreigners can be taxed differently, plus often have less employment contract rights (these are often referred to slave contracts as they can last for approximately 10 years and there is no guarantee at the end of it the artist will make any money and potentially could still have a debt to that company). Also according to South Korean law they can only pay a foreign artist for a work type that is not only recognized in South Korea, but also in that foreign artist's home country as well. This means if the artist does something that helps in the production of the music, but there is no category of this work type in their home country they can not be paid for it in South Korea. Apparently as already said in the comments YG has tried to help Lisa, by giving extra work on other projects within the YGE company so they can pay her more money, plus allowing her to do more promotional and sponsorship work for various brands and products, which they normally wouldn't have allowed an artist to do at this stage. As also pointed out already by others in the comments section YGE for all its other dodgy behaviour it is still actually one better South Korean entertainment companies in the payment of its artists in that has a 50/50 split of profits with the artists.

It may not be clear from this video but it's not just YG. The video is trying to say that "that's just the way it is", meaning that that's how the Kpop industry works. And not just Kpop. Many industries in Korea and other countries pay foreigners less wages. Some make it so foreigners are expected to get paid less, get looked down upon, and are unable to get citizenship despite working there their whole lives. Sound familiar? Yah man, even here in the USA. Is it wrong? Sure it is. But if you're gonna say "eff YG", you should also take a good hard look at the US labor and service industry, as well as the rest of the Kpop companies (some others which are even more restrictive to foreigners than YG). Remember, Lisa is the first foreign artist at YG so she is breaking new ground and making history, and like Rosalyn Park, she is going to face adversity. Thank you for supporting our beloved Lisa.

But dont worry, even how bad YG in the eyes on netizens but he trying so hard to make Lisa to be equally and fairly between all of her member. Shes a model of Nonagon( YG Clothing model) since predebut. Lisa start her model carrier before she even debuted as a member of YG. So dont worry.

you have to understand that countries have laws and it's probably some taxes issue for the inequality in payment. but YG compensated that through NONAGON and MOONSHOT as Lisa is an ambassador for both YG brands. Furthermore she also is an ambassador for a mobile operator in Thailand too. For all we know Lisa might be earning more than some of her members. Either way, for Lisa, it wasn't about the money at the beginning. It was her passion to be onstage and being able to perform. But if the locals are not okay with it also then I think we can gladly blame their government with ease for that law. I'm saying this because it's not our country but it's theirs and that's why if you work abroad, you gotta think it twice before going.
