This is the final video that I'll be posting for my BL4 run of the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne. I honestly had a difficult time deciding between posting this fight with Yharnam first or the other one, because I was equally satisfied with how both fights turned out. The first fight had a more badass finish to it, while this fight ends at the exact moment the music ends. Either way, both of my fights with Yharnam felt like very powerful conclusions to my run.
This fight more or less plays out the same way as my original fight, where Yharnam goes through three different phases. You do get to see moves that weren't present in the original fight, such as the blood AOE explosion at 0:28. A more notable move to mention, is the levitation move that Yharnam uses at 2:57. If you happen to get caught by this move, you will be levitated into the air for a bit before being slammed down. And I mean that quite literally, as this attack is a one-shot on BL4. It's fairly telegraphed though and the range on it is surprisingly smaller than you might expect, so getting caught by it is pretty rare.
One attack that I didn't have space to elaborate on in my original fight was the blood geyser attack Yharnam can use in phase 3. This isn't a terribly complicated move to deal with, but there are a few things worth knowing about it. Avoiding the attack is as simple as outspacing the overall range of the blood geysers. It is possible to immediately rush back in and attack Yharnam as soon as the geysers disappear. However, you'll notice a bit of blood rain pouring down for a few seconds, which builds up Rapid Poison on your character if you run back in too soon. This is why you see me hang back for a bit before running towards Yharnam, so that I don't take damage from Rapid Poison. Alternatively, you can offset the Rapid Poison buildup by simply wearing armour that has decently high resistance to Rapid Poison.
And there you have it. That is my BL4 Chalice Dungeons run fully complete, without taking damage on any of the bosses! I have to say that this run ended up being way longer than I expected it would be. I'd also argue it took a lot more work, likely because the Chalice Dungeons is something that FromSoftware didn't have enough time to fully realise. So it feels like I tried my hardest to salvage something that probably was never finished for its quality to be on par with Bloodborne's maingame. I won't lie when I say that this run ended up being almost as mentally exhausting as my RL1 NG+7 of Elden Ring, even though objectively speaking, that run was way longer than this one.
As for the Chalice Dungeon bosses overall, they tend to be pretty hit-or-miss for me. A couple of them can be difficult for artificial reasons, such as wonky hitboxes, cramped arenas, rampant AI glitches etc. Bosses like the Pthumerian Descendant, Forgotten Madman and Headless Bloodletting Beast come to mind for me upon mentioning these aspects. That isn't to say there aren't any gems in the boss roster though. There are a few bosses that do have some pretty interesting design to them, while also being polished enough to be on par with some of the best bosses in the maingame. When I talk about this, I'm referring to bosses such as the Watchdog, Pthumerian Elder and Abhorrent Beast.
I do think this run was worth me spending my time on, as I rarely see people on RU-vid talk about the Chalice Dungeon bosses from a more critical lens, due to the dungeons themselves lacking substance to get through. Hopefully, I did a fairly competent job at analysing what works with these bosses, and what doesn't. Completing this run did make me feel like I had gained pure mastery over this game, as I have now defeated all of Bloodborne's bosses on the highest difficulty without getting hit.
