I think Yhwach is a consequence of the original sin. Even if Aizen and Ichigo never set one foot in the seireitei. The quinces would have returned to wreck soul society one way or another. Yhwach unleashed something far worse than his initial goal. The inmates of hell are able to open the gates from inside
I have one theory as to why the Soul King didnt stop his mutilation from happening. If he saw all possible outcomes, then he knew he had to split up the world into three because the outcome of staying as is was far worse than the handful of possible futures where he'd be mutilated while in a helpless meditative state keeping the three worlds separate. He also would have seen in the possible futures where he gets gutted, he sees its far from eternal, that it has an end. In other words, he simply COULDNT do anything to prevent what happened to him because he forfeited his awareness and ability to respond in order to save everyone from being swallowed up into one big menos after inevitably becoming hollows with no escape. The choice he made was which evil he would dedicate everything to stopping. Obviously he choice the absolute evil and spared the lesser evil that would later mutilate him, but the worlds would keep on turning. Thats what he chose.
I think he became addicted to the power boosts and controlling blind followers. He probably doesn't even remember not having any senses since he was blessing folks as a baby. His lack of power to stop Soul Reapers, lack of control over the human world, and lack of knowledge about the truth of the world made him feel powerless. So, in order to regain that Almighty feeling, he waged war. Then he took the Soul Kings powers because he saw the King as weak and weak minded. The biggest cup of power was just hovering in the air.
Facts, when I seen that … I actually felt for As Nödt as a character. This dude YhWach comes in his life at his lowest point, heals him, and gives him surreal Power. After this, I can see why As Nödt would go so far and hard (pause) for YhWach
The Spirit King's fate shows what happens in this universe when one tries to do good. Still, it's Ironic yet unsurprising that the goals of the ancestors became the opposite of their apparent intentions. The Shihouin wanted progress from stagnation yet Soul Society became stagnation incarnate, with them then as deadly enforcers of it. Then the Tsunayashiro in paranoia had the King's power curbed and dispersed, in doing so it became part of those who would try to destroy Soul Society or cause them lethal trouble. The unknown family wanted the fiery pit of hell covered up but now, thanks to Shinigami actions, it's cracking open to unleash unspeakable horrors upon totally unsuspecting humans and others. The Shiba wanted a paradise for Hollows yet Hueco Mundo is a kill or be killed world with cannibalism and endless darkness. Then humans where by default tossed to the wolves. Ambition and balance has consequences.
Do you think the primordial world Yhwach wanted to revert back to was like our world during pangea? Humans, hollows, soul reapers, quinces, witches, dragons, ect living on one continent together? After all, the hollows slayed by Reio turned into sand. Pangea had giant deserts in the middle
Poor Yhwach just wanted to put his tortured father to rest and claim his rightful birthright as the god of the bleach universe. He was completely justified in his attack on soul society for their blasphemous acts against his father and he is right to hate them.

I personally don't think the Reio had a wife per se, I think the angle that Kubo and the animation team were going for was the Jesus and Mary dynamic. Similar to how Ichigo was born as one with White because of the special circumstances of how the hollow was sealed inside Masaki, or how all or most Fullbringers have fragments of the Reio's power inside them... I do think that Yhwach is just that, he could be the Zanpakutou spirit/ego/shadow/power or whatever you think fits, but he is something that was originally a part of the Reio, and then that thing descended into a "holy" woman as prophesied (from the way the baby was worshipped, it almost seemed like it's birth was expected) and the fact that they didn't kill the baby and instead worshipped it despite the death it brought is telling, that to them, he was God. So he's the "son of God" in the same way that Jesus was the "son of God" but he's also God, in the same way that Jesus is God in the Trinity. Or in reference to Bleach, in the same way that Shunsui's Zanpakutou; Katen gave birth to Kyokotsu and yet they are both Katen Kyokotsu... If that makes sense, initially one but split in two. That's the relationship I personally think Yhwach has with his "father" and when you look at it that way, a lot of things make sense. Like how Reio controls reincarnation with most races, and Yhwach on a smaller scale ALSO has this power as all Quincy return to him upon death... A weaker Almighty... The power to bestow blessings and strip them away freely and so on. Yes, sperms were shown in the scene but just view it like how Isekai works... Reio's power or whatever Yhwach is, merged with that baby and was born as one with it. Considering the fact that said baby would've died upon birth as it had no senses, brain didn't work, basically he possessed a corpse and gave it life... Then unlike White and Ichigo where the baby maintained the King position as the main ego, Yhwach just took over from the start. So that baby's father could just be some random human, that is more likely than Reio having a wife honestly.
For Yhwach, the souls returning provided only the suffering. He didn't see the courage. The courage is balanced by the fear of death. But he couldn't see the Courage. Yhwach has no courage. He sees and sets futures. How could he have courage? By his very nature, he could only view this new world as inferior -- don't try, it's just pain! He must think everyone quite mad. Somehow the Soul King knew better. Knew that everyone else had surpassed him in some way. TYBW is a tale of Yhwach's hubris. Of the Devil's Hubris, who did not acknowledge the redeeming nature of Humankind. That's why there is so much Christian iconography... And why Cometh the Hour is so badass.
7:04 I guess from Ywach POV Ichigo is the Ultimate Villain of the story as he was the one who stopped him from stopping death itself (who was nearly completed his attempt if Ichigo had not killed him) Albeit Ywach doenst care his own soldiers so yeah it’s probably a selfish desire not selfless desire.
I have a question. Will Aizen's Kyokasuigetsu's five sense controlling power work against Byakuya in Byakuya's Bankai's Senkei form? I remember Byakuya Kuchiki saying in filler arc 'Zanpakuto rebellion' to villain 'Koga Kuchiki' that controlling five senses means nothing in my Senkei.
The noble ancestors restrained him and wanted to have his power for them which is why they chopped off his limbs, etc. A walking soul king like Aizen wanted to be would be too much of a wildcard

If history of forming.of.these 3 worlds is millions years old then that means human civilization in bleach world is existing for million years. On the other hand, in our reality human history is not very old.
I think Yhwach is what ancient people believed to be their version of Jesus Christ. - both look very similar - both are the sons of god - both were said to preform miracles To Äs Nödt, Yhwach definitely looked like a saint that came to his death bed
Fun fact: Yhwach doesn't actually absorb souls. That's actually a misconception because of the translation. When a Quincy dies, their actual physical material soul (the konpaku) remains, but their "essence," (tamashi) their thoughts, feelings, and knowledge are imprinted onto Yhwach's soul fragment. It's similar to how a Soul Reaper imprints themselves onto a Zanpakuto. If Yhwach actually outright absorbed souls, then Mayuri wouldn't have been able to even resurrect Candice and Meninas in the CFYOW novel as part of his corpse unit. It would have been impossible for him to probably find and separate their soul from Yhwach's corpse at the end. Also Ichibei wouldn't have permitted it as the balance was really fragile at the end of the war.
Thank you for that clarification! I am sometimes concerned that I am misunderstanding some of Bleach because the meaning gets lost in translation. I;m certainly missing some of Kubo's clever plays on words.
Everybody in the soul society has an average lifespan in four digit numbers, so of course they have emotional baggage, they lived through hundreds of years a piece.
Beeing born with complete sensory deprivation and beeing told by millions of people how painfull and cruel death is for the past 1000 years. Of course Yhwach would go insane and is afraid of death. It's a miracle that he still kinda have emotion and the driving to end his fear.
Best villain in the series. His motivation is so interesting and it makes sense. Kubo crafted an amazing universe that was built on the back of an innocent saint like martyr who still got betrayed after his selfless sacrifice. I feel at some point something has to give and justice must be done for Reio and the status quo has to change, either by force (Yhwach style) or in some other way. At the very least the people who betrayed Reio must pay. I can't wait for a long running Hell arc. I hope Kubo tackles these themes.
Kubo please for the love of all that is good buff the hell out of hitsuguya and give him a vital purpose and role in the arc THAT HE DOESNT FAIL IN OR NEED ASSISTANCE OR GET SAVED. I’m frankly quite tired of myuri, kenpatchi and byakuya continuing to jump in power while he’s left behind sure we finally got his “adult” form but it definitely feels like a wet fart when I was expecting an explosion. Especially after losing his banki for awhile, being turned into a zombie etc. He’s supposed to be a prodigy but can’t seem to do much of anything and I hate having to say that because he’s my favorite character lol.

Which is the reason I mentioned him losing his bankai, he didn’t give up rather he immediately began to train along side his shinigamj again even as a captain and reclaimed it and being turned into a zombie was one of the best moments for us to see what he’s really capable of IF he were to let loose and go all out for the kill. And despite his newest form wasn’t able to take on or kill Gerard Valkyrie solo which is what people would’ve expected from a brand new form that takes SO long to activate even so byakuya and kenpatchi couldn’t kill him either solo either but they’ve already undergone multiple power surges up to that point.
@@isaacwillis6042 Byakuya and Kenpachi both had MAJOR losses before they fought Gerard. Look at it this way, Toshiro goes from depending on Hyōrinmaru to mastering the fundamentals when he loses Bankai. Kenpachi was already a complete swordsman from the beginning. On the flip side, Byakuya was a perfect Bankai master from the beginning as well. You have to consider the timelines as well when you speak about Toshiro being a prodigy. Only about 20 years ago, he was a 3rd seat. Had Isshin stayed, he currently wouldn't even be a Captain. So his peers are actually Rukia, Yumichika and the like... When you look at it that way, for a 3rd or 2nd seat officer, having a bankai and not just any, but THE strongest ice type over the course of like 20 years since you joined the academy is insanely impressive. Most other captains who have been around for way longer STILL aren't even perfect Bankai masters and that includes Yamamoto whose own Zanpakutou is the opposite of Toshiro's. So not every character NEEDS to be rushed. Gerard was established along with Lille Barro as war veterans who never lost in Battle, to take a guy like that and argue that an inexperienced child prodigy should've been able to solo him is ridiculous. The captains who had perfected their kido, Zanjutsu and Bankai such as Shunsui, Mayuri, Urahara, Yoruichi and Byakuya ALL struggled and needed massive assistance against relative opponents to Gerard. The only way that Toshiro would have won a 1v1 would've been against a Sternritter that wasn't Schutzstaffel tier, and you wouldn't have been impressed. Even Shunsui who stated that Toshiro was a prodigy also in the same breath, estimated that he'd be surpassed by Toshiro in like a hundred years. That's the mistake people tend to make with Bleach, you don't consider how time works and how abnormal Ichigo's growth is in contrast. You really have to take a step back from your favorite character and then look at every little factor surrounded them before you make an argument or suggestion. Kubo doesn't always consider what the fans want to see, his priority is to maintain consistency with his world building. Ichigo is a guest in the Shinigami world, before him they existed and served their function, yes these characters are interesting and we all like them sometimes even more than Ichigo... but never forget who's story we're being told. It's the same thing with Shinji fans... Everyone seems to forget that these characters have hundreds to thousands of years of history, and whatever "huge" losses we see them take in the moment, to them is just another day. Yes, it's a shame that we the audience don't get to see them prevail on their own but what happens in 100 years when Toshiro is an actual adult and doesn't need a timer to access his Bankai? When Rukia can actually move her body and not break like glass? When Ichigo has learned and mastered Kido? That's the point, unlike other Shonen where you expect to see a character's PEAK by the end of the series because they are humans, Bleach leaves it open. And not every character needs to get a huge W and that's fine too. Most of the relevant main and side cast of Bleach get their character arcs completed and don't need to do more. Shinji doesn't need to use his hollowfication because that conflict and trauma has been resolved. But people would say that Kubo did the previous visored "dirty" because of it. TLDR: Toshiro was handled perfectly, he didn't need a solo W to be great, and this applies to even KON and Isshin among others. Let's stop complaining about fanfiction and appreciate the characters for what they have to offer.

Yhwach iw my favorite anime villain, he grew on me so quick because of all the lore that he has behind him and his family😭 the lore within him and his upbringing and his father reio is just amazing and I would love to see more anime only scenes when he reunites with reio before having ichigo finish him Off
I think I figured it out. The real reason why the Soul King let hinself sacrificed himself to be mutilated by the 5 great noble families. If you think about it the Soul King and Yhwach are like the total polar opposites of each other. One is completely selfless to point that he would sacrifice himself for the betterment of others below him while the other is extremely selfish to the point he actively sacrifices people under him to achieve what he wants. The connection between them is only obvious in hindsight, or maybe I should say foresight. I think it makes sense if you think about them this way. If Yhwach, the son, is a being that was afraid of his own death he could not foresee, to the point that he tried to sacrifice his people in past and present, then the Soul King, the father, a being who was not afraid to die the death he could foresee in present, sacrificed his own life to protect his son who would born in the future. I think that's why the Soul King did not resist and let himself be mutilated. It was because he could have absolutely avoided the outcome, but if he did not become the linchpin at that moment, then his son who isn't nearly as powerful as he is would have to take the place as being destined to seperate the three worlds and be the string of fate that holds them together. It's simply because unlike the Soul King who is totally omniscient, Yhwach isn't, meaning he can be beaten and forced (or maybe even deceived) into playing a role he doesn't even want. The Soul King made the sacrifice so his son wouldn't have to become the linchpin of reality but ironically Yhwach, who totally did not understand the Soul King's sacrifice, ended up becoming the thing he and his father never wanted for him in the end. Truly tragic if you ask me.
My Ichigo agenda is gonna be explained. Old man zangetsu wanting to protect ichigo at all cost...is due to ywhbach goal to take care of his family. The new scene cemented it in my head. 2. Ichigo's Ban kai ability to imprint his soul on those who he is fighting. Ichigo can see into people hearts kubo tells us this. Then The lost agent cemented it during ginjo training. So if you noticed anyone ichigo fought has had a change of heart or a realization of there contractions.
The most important question tho is about Yuha's origin. Was his mother a Human? If so then it's justified that is the first quincy(born from a Human and Soul King)
What I don't understand If beings like Aizen exist that are truly immortal Why wasn't Reio immortal? Why isn't Aizen mutilated like Reio was if he was feared the exact same way. They're both trapped and immobile by the shinigami, but Aizen just seems immune to all harm unlike Reio.
Sosuke Aizen's wanted immortal regeneration and achieved it through "hogyuko" special item, I suspect that Soul King simply chose not to get immortal regeneration and/or didn't have hogyuko special item that would have given it

Perhaps Reio is more powerful than Aizen with the hogyoku. Perhaps Reio has the power to "turn off" his immortality. Or perhaps Aizen will someday be "mutilated like Reio was." In my "head canon" Aizen, doomed to survive the inevitable heat-death of the universe, is facing a fate worse than death: eternal solitude in oblivion. But in his hogyoku-infused state he will eventually find the power to solve his problem by returning to the distant past. Aizen is/will be/has always been - Reio.
Yhwach was afraid of regressing to his original state. It would be nice to know about his mother as it might lead to highlighting why people were drawn to him as his father (the soul king) was no shown as being around during his birth. Who would want to touch a baby born with nothing; Except there was lore around him.
So, quick question: I’m re-reading the manga after it’s been a few years. When I get to the TYBW arc, should I read the manga version or watch the anime?
My opinion is to do both. Because the anime is cutting and adding to the manga. So the best way to experience it, I think is to have knowledge of how it was originally told in the manga. So you appreciate the changes in the anime.

I think Yhwach doesn’t really have a choice. Yhwach was born motionless. His father Reio was sacrificed so that a world with multiple realms came to be. Yhwach is forced to feel the death and therefore feelings of every soul that returns to him. There’s nothing he can do against it so he’s under the impression that if he removes the concept of death, he will finally be at peace. It resulted in him becoming a war monger. He’s like an inevitable force of nature. Like our sun that will eventually burn out and consume venus and Merkur. Leaving the planet earth burning. It seems to suggest that the world of Bleach was always destined to collapse. Even if Ichigo and Aizen never took action in the story. The Quinces would return to wreck Soul society one way or another
I believe yhwach was literally a random baby created between a woman and a man . And just so happened to be granted the almighty power of the soul king throuh his will. But somehow yhwach turned out to be kind of a renegade and the soul king decided to oppose him later on.

Kubo favoritism for the soul reapers butchered and bastardized the Quincys to a point of no return they deserved better than what kubo gave them and after the war ended the Quincys are nothing more than bunch of fodder but soul reapers every Arc gets stronger and stronger

@forbes0708 There Hell, which existed probably before/or around the same time as the 1st world, and the soul king came after that. There has to be a heaven, because where do all the good souls go that don't or cannot reenter the Soul Cycle (like lchigo's mom) that was created the soul reapers?
