Yi Lite! The BEST Budget Action Camera on Amazon in 2018! 

I got my yi lite with a case, in the same box, from Amazon. The price was just $20 more with the case than without. Well worth it for the peace of mind.

The YI Lite is by far the best BUDGET option for sure. I think a lot of people try and compare it to GoPro aka the Mercedes Benz of action cameras. Yi is defiantly more of a KIA. Its not flashy, but for the majority of users, it does what it needs to do and does it well.

Bought this with the case and spare batteries and charger. It's sitting at my house waiting for me to get home from my deployment this fall. Love your reviews! My favorite electronic review channel!

Hi there again, I have waited and waited until I was satisfied the action cam I decided to go for met my requirements. I have looked at many many action cameras and have finally decided on the one for me. I have ordered a Firefly 8SE as I believe this to be in a league of its own. Tons of accessories come with it AND a Mini USB lavalier Mic. 15 day wait though for delivery from only one dealer here in Taiwan.

Hey TEDD, great followup video review on the Yi Lite. Great to hear that it's still holding up for you and your also still using it as needed; especially knowing that your a GoPro fanatic, LOL! I love my Yi 4K+ action camera so far, I've yet to really take it out due to my work schedule, but Summer is almost here! I'll be really using it a lot more for all those outside shots and videos, and yes, I love the control panel on the 4K+ is extremely fast and easy to use too!

Realise I'm a bit late to comment but I wanted a cheap but good action camera. After some research and mainly the reviews from this channel I bought one the other day for 45 quid. After some considerable testing at various resolutions and settings in my opinion there's no point using 4K unless you are videoing slow subjects as the drop in frame rate is noticeable. The 1080p @ 60fps is excellent. The eis works if you are prepared to loose a bit of the view but even without eis the video is good. Compared to my mates 2018 GoPro, the yi lite it's just as good for what I need it for and a GoPro 2018 is about 4 times the price. The only negative is that the yi needs a case for snorkelling but tbh this adds to the protection. So far I'm glad I didn't fork out for the GoPro name. I will update this if I have further thoughts or tips. If you have a GoPro, then don't flame me because I'm happy with the Yi. Last but not least, the yi app works fine and has ample functionality and is intuitive to use, only FYI is it took a couple of attempts to connect to the wifi but once paired seems fine.

hey i just got the yi lite because of your reviews, when i am recording at 4k 20fps it seems to make the video lag or chop a little bit, you ever had this happen? when i drop to lower resolution such as 1080 60fps it is very smooth. i hope you can comment on this with any information that you might have, thanks man great channel

Finally got to use it after returning from deployment. I've paired it with a RiderM gimbal and it does fantastic. I wish there was a program to transfer like the GoPro has, BUUUUUT, I switched the sd card from my GoPro Session 5 to this without reformatting it and the GoPro Quik program now recognizes the Yi Lite as a Session 5. Bam, problem solved. Been shooting more and more footage for my channel with it too. I installed two dead cats over the mic ports though. Very happy with the sound too.

TED, you need to do a review of the Akaso V50 Pro!! I've been looking at the Yi Lite and I'm wondering how this will compare?

Is the EIS turned ON on the lake video? Or are you using gimbal? Im planning to buy on this but cannot decide.. hope you can help

Have you heard of activeon cx gold? Its a pretty good action Cam, and I found one for 68 dollars. You should check it out.

Aaaand it still doesn't have the most basic option, flip recording. So if you have to mount it hanging, upside down, tough luck. If you would compare it with Mijia 4k, I think your thoughts would be somewhat changed.

In regards to the durability, do you suggest using the silicon or metal cases for it when not in the waterproof housing? I have read the waterproof housing muffles the sound a lot.

Would you recommend this to use on an ATV? Good stabilization is a must, what would be the best budget option for a motorized vehicle that produces small vibrations most of the time? Edit: I have a campark 68 (terrible) and an apeman A80 (noticeably less terrible)...

You might want to do a heads up comparison with the Yi Lite and the AKASO V50 Pro Native. I believe you might find your next best action camera. What I have seen is this is way better than the Yi and of course the Brave 4 or 5. Just a thought for your next video.

Looks like the bitrate's pretty low, how many mbps is the video bitrate? The first yi camera could do better if it has the bitrate mod in my opinion

If this camera could do RAW 16mp time lapse photos it would be the deal of the century. Come on Yi! Update firmware to save the RAW files!!!!! I have the 4k but that's 12mp. If you do it that one why not this one with the higher mp. I have the original Yi and use YiPro app to save the RAW files if anyone's interested that one does 16mp as well. It would be sweet to have the touchscreen and not the hassle of writing scripts to change setting. Give your customers what they want.

Okay so I've seen you recommend this camera several times and it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I honestly would have purchased it a while ago already if it weren't for one thing. There's another RU-vidr named David Harry who has a video regarding framerate issues with this camera. He even pulls the footage onto a timeline and demonstrates the kind of frame interpolation issues that you can run into if you intend to use the footage in an editing program. Apparently the camera doesn't shoot at the proper 29.97 FPS (using the 30fps setting as an example) nor does it even shoot at a consistent framerate. In other words the framerate can vary slightly from One Clip to the next. Since I intend to edit my footage into larger productions along with footage from other cameras this is an absolute deal-breaker for me. As you're such a huge advocate of this camera and you obviously do video editing yourself, I'm wondering if you could either confirm or deny the existence of this problem? I haven't seen anyone else talk about it and would really appreciate seeing someone else at least address this issue. At this point it's the only thing keeping me from purchasing this camera. Do you have problems every time with connecting the Yi Lite to your camera app? Every time i go to connect it to my phone, i usually have to forget the network and reconnect multiple times to get it to work.

Sorry not compatible with my most important accessory - red filter for diving. Until a major vendor supports them, Yi is unfortunately an also ran in my book.

The yi lite and yi 4k does not work with GoPro accessories....... the size is not the same, the sides are a bit curved Well, my yi 4k does not work with any accessories because the width is different..

I can't get my Yi Lite to upload to my computer with the correct date. Has anyone had that problem? It loads any video under the year 1952 even though I have the correct date of 2018. When I contact Yi, they said to reset my date in my camera. I did and no change.
