Yi Quan is a great system for developing powerful attributes like power, sensitivity, speed, etc. In today's episode, we will demonstrate how these attributes transfer to training exercises such as single-hand sensitivity training and follow-ups.

I used to think "Small movement is better than large movement, but stillness is the king of all movement," was just a poem about zhan zhuang until the first time I met Sam Chin, and he was moving me without moving. I know that's I Liq Chuan and not Yiquan, but those arts are more similar than some people would like to admit...Sifu (Sam Chin) told me to not stop practicing Yiquan over lunch that day.

Thanks Master Adam. Can you write down the names of the teachers you recommended please?
@РоманПлотников-м9ж
Adam, could you please analyse a situation where there is a person with a left foot forward vs a person with a right foot forward (so called open stance)? The way you push against the structure won't quite work, I think. I feel like this changes everything in any martial art context. What do you do when you're against a person who mirrors you instead of standing in the same stance? I feel like this situation is pretty neglected in tradional martial arts, and even in boxing or wrestling that's a pretty dangerous situation.

Surprisingly, re. open vs closed stance, it actually doesn’t matter with regards to severing the root. And once you’ve done that, you have a time in which you can act during which your opponent can’t respond. So the exact line the opponent gets taken on may vary, but the method still works.

Brilliant again. I didn't know that WXZ had a book that you mentioned. The only ones I've seen are from his students. Do you have the title please ? Or know where I can find it? Many thanks

Falling into the sticky hands and lifting, and solar plexus strike from the sholder (contact with elbow), lifting the center of gravity. Lifting the tooked opponent elbow, (grabbing and poking chi points on the end of the triceps) low side iron press low straight punch(1inch punch). Foot trapping. One of these please explain.!!!!!

i have a question: can the founder of Yi Quan really fight? Did he have any fight stories? Or all yi quan is just a beautiful theory?
@hsienjungchung2031
@hsienjungchung2031 Год назад
use both hand for sticking is a very stupid idea of Yi Quan. A "Pak Sao+Punch" can finish this very easy.

Wang Xiangzhai at one time was an instructor for the military. He spent several years traveling China and comparing skills. When he started a school, he took on challenges, but usually they had to go through his students first. The Han Brothers had wrestling experience before they met WXZ, and Han Xing Yuan actually beat one of WXZ's students before Mr. Wang knocked him out on a return visit. Yao Zongxun, father of the Yao Brothers, also participated in these challenges. There was 1 other student among the 4 who regularly participated in these challenges, but I forget his name. I mostly only know Yao Zongxun's students (his sons and Cui Ruibin) and the Hans because I studied Han Xing Yuan lineage, and I know someone who trained with students of both Han Brothers in Hong Kong. From what I've heard, some of the really old 2nd generation Yiquan guys in China can do some really scary stuff that I wouldn't believe if I didn't know about the stuff Sam Chin doesn't demonstrate openly.

I thought bouncing people away was to practice fajin without hurting your partner.
@williambreazeal387
@williambreazeal387 Год назад
For Taijiquan that’s correct. You need a partner to practice Fa with because you can’t practice Taijiquan Fa against equipment. Pushing is fine for Taijiquan also because the requirements to properly push are not too far removed from the requirements to do an application. The applications for Yiquan are mostly hitting someone. So you don’t want to Fa someone to a position where you can’t get your free hit in. The video below shows a Fa to float/offset and an implied Fa to hit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SOsA4BaByfw.html As an aside, for Yiquan and Xingyi, there are definitely some Fa that are better practiced on equipment.

What about Taikiken? How is it different than Yi Quan?
@williambreazeal387
@williambreazeal387 Год назад
Other than being a snap shot of Yao Zongxun's Yiquan in the early 1930's there may not be much difference.

Did anyone catch the name of the two yiquan masters Adam mentioned at end of video. Have replayed several times and still can’t quite make it out. Thanks!
@williambreazeal387

Yao Zongxun (姚宗勋) should be the lineage since Yao was the official inheritor. Wang Xiangzhai wanted the teaching of the art to be open and complete. This seems to hold true among the grand students I know and have heard of. So specific lineage may matter less for Yiquan than most other Chinese arts.
