17:58!!! Strong point! Even The LORD says in Matthew 11:30 "For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." When we're properly taught how much He loves us (and The Word rightly divided), the appropriate response follows. It all falls in line with renewing the mind. (Romans 12:2) and RESTing in HIM (HIs WORD and promises). (Hebrews 4:1)

Carrie had some excellent teaching here! But something God was speaking to me about in this was some questions I've had recently as I pray vigilantly about the war in Ukraine. I would pray over people's safety and various aspects as I learned of needs there, and while there were probably countless miracles not reported about people being safe as various aspects of this war played out around them, I would focus on the deaths or terrible injuries I heard about and ask God how this could happen because I was praying (and I know others are too!!). I always ask God with respect, but I do ask so I can learn. I could see many prayers answered as victories are won in Ukraine's fight to keep their liberty and many people were kept safe and provisioned in dire circumstances, but I would ask God about those people who found themselves in the hands of wicked people that hurt them, etc. One thing I realize is that my prayers do matter, but it is that other person who is involved too. Are they trusting God for safety? Are they asking God and listening to His wisdom (such a critical time to hear Him correctly!)? It doesn't mean God doesn't love people or won't help them, but I see over and over in His Word as I asked Him about this that each of us has a responsibility to believe Him-this releases His power in bigger ways to work on our behalf than when we aren't believing Him. I think His mercy is there to even help those who aren't yet believing or believing as they should, but God can really unleash much greater power on our behalf when we trust Him to do it. Anyway, this was a little off the general topic, but God was using it to speak to me! (On another subject related to the war in Ukraine, God is talking to me very much to pray for my enemies and to love them too because He may not love what they are doing, but He loves them and wants them in our family too. His blood is for them. The enemy has deceived them and they need His truth. That really changes your heart as you begin to walk that out with Him and we really need His help to do this properly.)

I wanted to add another comment as I was listening to the Q&A. I absolutely hear what Carrie is saying about "dying to self" and letting God have Lordship in eeeeverything in our lives. Amen! But if a younger self had heard this-and I loved God and was dedicated to Him then too-I think I would have thought serving God was too hard and He was too controlling. Truly, He is not! I think God gives us total freedom in how little or how much we pursue relationship with Him. No guilt trips from Him. But it's like eating junk food all the time or eating food that you KNOW will make you feel strong, healthy and live your best now and down the road. God doesn't have opinions-He's always right and I'm not always right. Why would I want my opinion over His, really? If you know He will only give you the BEST in something (even if it doesn't look like it at the time), how can we really want anything else? My flesh still wants chocolate and more salad dressing than I need, but God is still right. I'm determined to bring Him into everything-not because I have to, but because I have the awesome privilege of calling on the God of All Creation any time I want! He is there for me with what I need at any moment, and the more I get to know His goodness, the more of His presence I desire! God is sooo good that when you discover it, it really gets pretty easy to die to your own way in life because you know your Daddy God has such amazing things for you if you look to Him, move with Him, dwell with Him, love spending time just with Him. I sat in my yard for two hours yesterday afternoon just enjoying being with Him-I love His presence, not just what He can do for me. It was such a treat to have that quiet time with Him apart from all the demands of the week!

How do I get out of being afraid of God? Having a hard time just trusting. Please pray for me. Help me understand this better.
