I’m a wild fan and a ref, and Hartman pisses me off. He’s dirty and needs to go. With his history, this should’ve been a suspension for at least a game

I'm a Jets fan, and agree with you. I'm not a ref, but the take in the video about Dillon is correct too. Those cross checks may be "part of the game," but when you can see that Kaprizov's pads are dislodged, I think you just have to back off. That's the issue here on both sides. If Hartman wants to deliver a punishing but clean check to any Jets player, no problem. But a stick in the face is the kind of garbage even the most brutal enforcers never pulled. Ditto for Dillon attacking Kaprizov's exposed back.

@@seedofwonder the irony of *Hartman* wanting to B and moan about somebody else's injury on his team after the crap he and Ryan Reeves both pulled in the second last game of the reg season last year is honestly too much hypocrisy... It's amazing any wild fan, or these shmucks on SN are legit trying to act like this is entirely justified 1, *AND 2* - are actually acting like this all magically starts at the cross check/injury to Kaprizov... And NOTHING happened before that, that would mean applying the logic Jamal used here back against him means he actually needs to be fine with the cross check to Kap, for what Hartman did to Ehlers last year... *AND* AFTER 2 separate fights in two separate games, one involving the cross checker himself, the other 2 seconds into the second game against our captain, and they STILL want to cry bloody murder AND act like Hartman was more then right to do this? Earn his 10th punishment from DoPS? After his 8th punishment was the suspension for the gross ass intentional injury attempt on the dirtiest interference that he succeeded on doing to Ehlers... It's legit clownish ass biased takes left and right... Refreshed to see this one wild fan with some brains. Hartman is a dirty rat bum, and Wild fans would be enraged if a jet did what he did. The worst weve done is cross checks before and after things were done to us first, and if the refs just called penalties correctly, self policing wouldn't be needed by ANY team...

@@BoboMcBooboy "And NOTHING happened before that, that would mean applying the logic Jamal used here back against him means he actually needs to be fine with the cross check to Kap, for what Hartman did to Ehlers last year..." Way too much common sense and sound logic here, which is not in Mayers's wheelhouse. But you are 100% right. But this is the same group that is still talking about the Stanley hit from last year being a "targeted" hit--even though it was against a puck carrier, below the head, on his feet. Kaprizov buckles and Stanley's momentum carries him forward so that he falls on him, but that gets spun as if he left his feet to make the check. So we are not dealing with clear-headed, objective minds here. I agree it's refreshing to see one Wild fan among the mob with some common sense and decency. Which is why I would throw them a bone and say what I did about Dillon. I know those cross checks happen 50x/game, especially in the slot and corners, but it does feel dirty to do it when you can plainly see a guy's equipment is loose and you're making direct contact with his back. Especially given the history, but it's not like Hartman ever plays with dignity so f%$# the Wild.

Jamal Mayer was a fringe player and is pretty much a fringe analyst. So a high stick to the mouth sends a message? It was a wise move? Hartman has Perfetti in his backpocket? What an idiotic take! I'm sorry but Hartman deserved at least a 10 game suspension on top of that cheesy fine under 5k. (Probably carries more cash in his pocket). As a Jets fan, Kaprizov being out does suck big-time, but I've seen hundreds of those checks in the corner. I'm sure Dillon didn't have intentions to injure, but Hartman came out a told Perfetti who was wearing a Mic, he meant to hurt him. So hurting a player with the intent on cutting his face, mouth and losing teeth is okay? A small fine is BS and the Jets didn't retaliate when Connor was knocked out for that knee on knee that could have ended his career.

I’m going to put a fine point on this discussion by posing a question: What if Perfetti had lost an eye? And that’s not a stretch. Right there, Perfetti’s career is over and Hartmann is both unemployed and undergoing the same legal issues Todd Bertuzzi and Marty McSorley had to go through. And we’re talking about a couple of inches difference for that to happen. The fact he chose to deliberately injure is one thing, but the way he chose to do it shows a complete lack of thought process.
@jeffer1101
@jeffer1101 8 месяцев назад
The issue is many of the rules of the game aren't called. There is often so many cross checks and slashes that go uncalled so once in a while someone gets injured by one. Cross checking is illegal. As soon as the first one was done, it should have been called a penalty immediately. It would take a bit for players to adjust, but if those types of infractions were called consistently, it would clean the game up with the cheap garbage that happens all the time.
@mikeotis-dw8gu
@mikeotis-dw8gu 8 месяцев назад
Couldn't agree more. When you use your stick in a cross-checking position to control a player's movement, that is very different from thrusting it at the player. I thought the NHL was going to start calling this a couple years ago but that only lasted 20 games as it usually does. Shame on the NHL again!
@gregorysmith9706
@gregorysmith9706 8 месяцев назад
Yup. There are ways were I think the NHL is ahead of the other big three sports, but nonsense like this, this mentality that persists year after year, shows just how many Neanderthals still persist in the sport. Where the refs don't call it, and the players clain they're just settling the score because the refs won't call it. It's utter garbage. Fighting is illegal, too, yet players are allowed to square off until they hit the ice. No other sport allows that. A closed fist in the NFL gets you ejected immediately, every time.
@urbanoutdoorsman5654

Take another look at the video, Dillon did not cross check Kaprisov where there was no padding. He pushed off along the top of the waist where there is padding, which is a legal hockey play in the NHL (but not in most minor leagues). Players are coached to push off in this way. The fact that Kaprisov fell awkwardly is unfortunate but is no different than an injury on ANY OTHER LEGAL CHECK. Hartman, other the other hard, is not man enough to play the game correctly but instead has targeted the 2 smallest players on the Jets over the past few games. Someone needs to deal with him but I feel the Jets have more important things to worry about than this man-child.
@mikec3971
@mikec3971 8 месяцев назад
"Pushing off along the top of the waist" doesn't result in broken ribs. He targeted a soft spot with a lot of force. I'm sure he wasn't trying to break ribs, but he was certainly trying to tenderize Kaprizov. Kaprizov is out for a few weeks with broken ribs. He can't even train to stay in shape while recovering so his return to top form will take a while.

Yes this! No one is talking about the high reverse hit on Dillon. There's an article out there calling them dirty and predatory, which I don't completely agree with, but so often when a hit like that happens, tempers flare and retaliation comes with it. So Dillon getting up and playing hard and giving him a shot back should surprise no one. Oddly enough, it was Kap backing into and under Stanley, that caused the injury last year also. Maybe he just skate forward instead of backing into people🤔

You forgot to bring up the fact that the big oaf Stanley "fell" on Kaprizov the previous season, causing him to be out a month......and not being himself in the playoffs. You also forgot to mention that Dillon DIDN'T GET PENALIZED on the cross check! The Wild had enough! If the refs and the league don't make things right......the players will. They have disarmed teams since we're in a no goon league now......OK, well, then call the penalties then......or more of this will happen.

If you're going to try to get revenge on a player, then get revenge on that player. You lose all moral high ground if you potentially injure someone who did nothing wrong because of someone else's actions. Dillon’s repeated cross checks at an area he KNOWS FULL WELL is unprotected is cheap and dirty. “ Prefetti is a young talented promising player . How dare you do that to him“. Nobody says the same about Kaprizov. But it is the same. The refs do nothing. The league does nothing. This broke Kaprizov’s ribs! And NOTHING is done about it. If Wild players do nothing about it, what would every other team do? Nothing? Yeah, right. None of this should happen. All of this sucks but, it wouldn’t be like this if the refs and the league do the right thing for the sport and for the human beings that make this league what it is. It’s a damn disgrace.
@mikec3971

Perfetti is defending Hartman because he knows the Dillon was mad and retaliating because of the reverse-hit Kaprizov put on him seconds before the incident. There are so many takes that can be made here. First of all, in MY opinion, hockey is the greatest game on earth. It is also the only game where the players police the game if the ref's let things get out of hand...or in this case, actions like the crosschecks to Kaprisov go unpunished. Old school hockey has a tough guy fight a tough guy (Middleton vs Dillon) to settle things down. Next game off the opening draw, Maroon vs Lowry. That should be the end of it. However, last year the Jets knocked Kaprisov out for an extended length of time when 6'7" Logan Stanley fell awkwardly on top of Kaprisov. Many feel it was a targeted hit. Now, Dillon takes liberties with Kaprisov knocking him out for another lengthy absence. This is the Wild's best player and one of the superstars in the league. If the ref's aren't going to punish these guys, it's going to continue happening. Hence, Hartmann with the dirty stick job on Perfetti. I'm not saying that was the right thing to do, but if one team has a history of taking out another team's superstar, that team is going to go after your superstar. If you want to clean up the game, penalize every cross check that is ever delivered. Eventually, people will quit crosschecking. Also, penalize every hit from behind. Eventually, they will stop checking from behind. Call all of the slashes too, not just the flagrant ones. Eventually we will be paying big money to watch 20-30 year old men playing squirt hockey.

Last year you had the Jets coach calling for his players to go after Wild players but then he famously cowerd away from Wilds coach. The difference between dirty teams is the Jets get away with it and the wild get caught retaliating. Jets are just like Dallas/Boston they get away with alot because they start it. I don't like Hartman using his stick to send the message but I agree with his reasoning on going after Perfetti although it probably wouldn't have been perfetti if he didn't swap into the face-off dot at the last second. Nailed it. Shoulda been over after 2 fights. Fans can boo Dillon, players can hit him as hard as possible every shift, give him a little extra in the scrums, etc. but intentional high sticks are not and have never been part of the "self-policing" system in the NHL under "The Code" of unwritten rules for retaliatory violence... TheHockeyGuy pointed out similarities to the Bertuzzi-Moore situation and it's scary to think this isn't over and could still escalate... Nailed the take on the SN panel too - Bieksa has been a breath of fresh air, best NHL analyst on TV today. Botterill has really grown into her role and offers consistently valuable insight. Friedge is Friedge. The rest range from terrible to tolerable at best. Luke Gazdic is the only other name I'd single out for his positive contributions in terms of personality and insight, which have both really surprised me given his identity as a player, but I'd love to see him get the call-up to the HNIC table.

This rivalry goes back to last year when the jets basically ended Kaprizov’s season. Next do a video about how there’s no place in the game for intent to injury crosschecks in the back on star players

Oh hey you can also say that it was a unfortunate play that Stanley landed on kaprizov by accident. You guys were getting rolled by Dallas either way. Hartman did one of the dirtiest reverse hits on Nik Ehlers I’ve ever seen and he missed 4 playoff games

For a tv analyst to not condone a hit that received punishment….should be a bad look for Sportnet. But they are the one who posted the exchange…..with a popcorn emoji to go with it like it was to be entertaining. And as for retribution…I thought Lowry took care of that at the beginning of the game. I bet Hartman wishes Vladdy hadn’t been kicked outta the face off. Then his so called revenge seeking hit wouldn’t have happened to a mic’ed up player……unless Perfetti was the target.

That was an accident and then Hartman decided to injure Ehlers, the Wild (kaprizov) got what they deserved, dirty team, ties for 2nd in penalties while the Jets have the 2nd fewest, 1 more than NYI

"Absolutely laughable" is exactly correct, and so is "awful stance". I love hockey, but if I think too much about this kind of idiocy I'll start not wanting to watch. Very good video, though.

Is no one going to mention the unpenalised elbow Kapy gives Dills to start this whole sequence? Just sayin', hockey is a rough sport and those puck battle crosschecks along the boards are a nightly occurrence. No one feels good about an injury but there was also nothing out of the ordinary in this whole video; Dillon's crosscheck(s) deserved a penalty(2 minutes) but so did Kaprizov's elbow(2 minutes). As for Hartman and his highstick? He deserved more for an obvious intent to injure play.

The Wild are cheap and dirty. And then play victim when their superstar who’s soft gets hurt on a cross check that wasn’t even that hard. They deserve to be out of the playoffs.

Bro the wild just lost their top player for weeks and Dillon fighting (which is what he always does) wont solve anything because he will be right out there the next shift after his 5 min penalty is over while kaprizov wont. Jamal has a point and Bieska would of said the same thing as Mayers man. The problem is the LEAGUE!!! It is run by a bunch of hippies not doing their job to protect the players and this is causing players to take matters into their own hands which is not a good thing. If the league is not going to police the actions of some then the players will have to and that's why Hartman did that. I would of preferred a different target than Perfetti though if that is what Hartman planed to do. It's plain and simple. TNT is garbage man, ratings are sooo down.

Hartrman should injure Scheifele or Hellebuyck. The Wilds best player Kaprizov producing point-per-game on this "bad" season. If it was Crosby or McDavid or even Bedard everyone would scream to suspend dillon for th rest of his life

Mayers is the only person on that panel worth listening to. If Winterpeg is going after Minnys stars then Minny will go after Winterpegs stars. It's that simple, doesn't matter what the talking heads say.

Except this doesn't start at this one Kaprizov cross check like the wild would like you to believe, and like Jamall is clearly ignorant on with trying to say HARTMAN of all people is justified to bitch about somebody else's injury... Lmfao... Such a clown take. Cough cough, Ehlers being intentionally interfered with by Hartman last year. His 8th of 10 instances of being punished by DoPS. Guy is a walking "cheap and dirty" joke. Minny is getting pissy they lose whenever they face the Jets lately, and this is how you wild fans and even some ignorant ass commentators have to cope...
@BoboMcBooboy

Reeves boarding last year before that... The worst the Jets have done to Minny was Pionk getting a 5 for a cross check after BOTH the Reeves boarding and the Ehlers injury by Hartman, and then this SOFT ass love tap to Kaprizov that unfortunately took him out. But if you believe Minny had and didn't do much worse before and after this cross check, you're proving yourself as the ignorant/naive clown you are...

Good play by Hartman, except he should have hit him a little harder and taken some teeth out. If Dillon didn’t cheap shot and injure Wilds young superstar this would not have happened. It’s a two way street buddy, now your young star will get the same treatment

This is true. However this is a reflection on the NHL and it's horrible implementation of player safety. I have never seen cross-checking become more and more of a problem and the league saying they're trying to take it out of the game but it never happens. Once again a referee is standing there with his head and his whistle in his pocket. Losing control of the game was obviously going to happen. Hockey is a great sport, sadly it's run be the worst league on the planet.

Not to mention Perfetti was 1) not involved in the play that injured Kaprizov, 2) not even on the ice at the time, and 3) not a Kaprizov “superstar” level player. There are better players on the Jets Hartman could’ve gone for, but Perfetti is smaller and younger I guess. I’m not a fan of either team but do watch sometimes for Kaprizov and Faber. Can’t really call it “policing” the game when you go after someone who wasn’t involved at all😂Imagine being tazed because your coworker beat someone up
