Awesome Review! thanks for the great breakdown! One thing, if I may suggest, to make your next video easier to watch would be to drop the "full name" after you already introduced the item, for example after saying once: "560 Mark Three" just say "Mark Three" to avoid a ton repetition. And thanks again for the review!

Outstanding review. I like that you've taken such a methodical approach to explaining the feature sets. I purchased the Mark III models recently and have been enjoying them with the triggers, but this is fantastic news. They're so inexpensive, I might just buy 3 new Mark IV models and keep the IIIs for backups.

Do you know if there a way to turn off the slave mode indicator light?
@zy_cheng

I don't think it'd be possible without a bit of hardware hacking, but you can try putting black tape over it, just be careful not to cover the sensor.

Hello, 1. Are you able to trigger the YN 560IV with the EOS 70D's pop-up flash? 2. If YES to the above, are you able to adjust the flash power via the on-body menu?

I currently own a Nikon D7200 and my question is can I fire this flash in slave mode using my camera's in built flash as a commander? If yes, then would you please be kind enough to explain me how it's done or guide me to a link where I can find answer to my query? Keep the good work going!!! Thanks!!!

The reason it will not reset the slave flash from hot-shoe signal is you may need to use lower or higher settings on the slave flash from time to time.. then you can re sync after the custom shot settings..

I want make a setup as 560 iv (As master) will trigger the 560 iii (As slave) WHERE 560 iv will be OFF-CAMERA communicated via YN-603N trigger with my camera. Thanks for your review. I had a question about the III and IV AF-assist beam. Do these actually have an AF-assist beam? Is it a beam matrix as it is in the 468II for example or is it just a red led? How does it work on the hot shoe? Does it turn on when you half press the shutter (I'm guessing no since there is only one pin?)

ATG & Yongnuo will be hurting Profoto B1, Phottix Indra500, Godox Witstros AD360, Qauntum Trio. Your video reviews is good that many are confused that they will need to watch it 6 times. Buy this flash is the best bang for buck over other flashes & still control settings by radio. ATG/Yongnuo are so good that B&H Photo is selling it. 10 flashes for only $700.00. or 5 flashes for only $350.00. Awesome baby power lighting control instead of just one light from those above mentioned.

Great job! Super helpful. One question, Can you change the channels of the flashes remotely as well? I'd like to be able to modify the flash set up on the go, from let's say to remote flashes to three, or four. Is it possible from the master flash or do you need to physically walk to each to change the channel?

Hey, good stuff. Not sure if anyone has told you though, you slipped up a bit. At 4:40 you mistakenly said to press the "Mode"+"Function" buttons in order to activate, when you should have said "Mode+"Activate" buttons. It had me confused for a second. When I actually did just that, there's a different function that it activates, and now I have to look that up because I've no idea of what it actually did. Just FYI. Otherwise, thanks for the video. Am I able to change the flash values so they are different from each other when i take a picture. Nice review, I just picked up a Yongnuo mk iv and it's worked very well for me! If I have a second Mk IV can I use one flash just as a trigger for an off camera flash (the second MK IV), or will it always fire even when in master mode? Just wondering if I have to buy a flash trigger or not...
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
If you have the IV as master and a IV or III as a slave, you will not need another trigger. If you have two Mk IV's you can use one as a master and one as a slave. You can totally set the Mk IV master to fire along, or to not fire and just trigger the slave only. Hope this helps :)
@eikif1167
@eikif1167 9 лет назад
ZY Productions That's awesome! Could I ask if you could put a video up showing how to use a mk IV as just a trigger so it does not fire when the slave goes off? The instruction manual is not very clear at all... Thanks for the response!
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
I think I've briefly went over it in the above video, but basically the steps are 1) Set the 560 IV Master flash into Tx mode by pressing the button with the symbol that looks like a wifi icon. 2) Hit the centre "ok" button until it displays "--" under the "Group" indicator. (It should cycle from A/B/C/--). When "--" is selected under group, that means whatever settings that are shown are applied to the 560 IV flash itself. 3) Press the MODE button until it displays "--" on the flash exposure settings. You're done :) Let me know if it works for you, if it still doesn't work I'll put up a video.

This is going to be a very obvious question - please keep in mind I would be using this with the Fuji X series system. I have one yongnuo 560 iv unit and a 560TX transmitter, but i would like to sell my transmitter to instead buy another flash unit to trigger my off camera flash unit. Can i independantly fire my off unit while firing my on camera unit at a different output? @andrewford80
@andrewford80 8 лет назад
They are really quote different. The 560 range is designed to be used off camera pretty much exclusively. The 600 is more like a replica of the canon flash so it does HSS, E-TTL and all that other stuff and works ON the camera properly. So, that's why it's more expensive. I know this was an old question but I just thought I'd comment in case anyone else was wondering. Seems to be a lot of confusion around the yongnuo range.

since the price is now the same (around U$ 70) , is it better to have 2 units of the mark IV, or one mark III and one mark IV? another question: can you please tell me if there is a possibility to fire another camera using some receiver, to fire at the same time that I have pressed the shutter of a first camera? i want to have two pictures of a same situation. but from different angles.
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
Uanderson Brittes Well like you said, since the price of the III and IV are almost the same, might as well go for both Mark IV's. And yes, all you have to do is really just connect the remote shutter release ports of both cameras together (as in plug one end of the cable into camera A, and the other end into camera B). After that the shutter releases of both cameras should be synchronized. If you're talking about doing this wirelessly I don't really know of a system that can do this yet, but im sure its entirely possible, as long as theres some sort of system that can transmit the trigger signal over the air.

Great video thanks for the info. I am very new to photography and the price and quality sounds like it's just what I need and as a beginner I have a stupid question. I am also obsessed with vintage cameras. I think they are beautiful bricks of engineering art and wand to know if mounting TX or any flash on a cold shoe damages the units meaning the flash or transmitter by the contacts touching the metal shoe base? I was pleased to see in my last purchase I found the sync cord or is that the right name of the cord? So far I have a Minolta SR-T101 and a Yashica 635 that I love learning to use. I was planning on buying the 560 TX with a set of 560 IV flashes for my Canon rebel 300D (yes even my digital is ancient) and now that I found the sync cord whatchamacallit I was hoping to be able to use it with all my old cold shoe cameras now and future cameras.

I currently own two YN-560 III and a YN-560 TX. Is it easy two incorporate the IV into this setup? Particularly, I'm curious to know if you can easily swap the TX for the IV as transmitter, so that if you want to alternate between having the IV on and off camera, you just switch between TX mode and receiver mode on the IV? So that if I have the IV in group A, one 560 III in group B and one in group C, the only difference will be whether the IV acts as master or slave?
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
The IV will fit in perfectly with a bunch of III's and a Tx. The IV has an extra Tx mode. When Tx mode is selected on the IV, the IV will function as a master and WILL NOT respond to any trigger signals from another transmitter. The IV will only function as a slave flash when Rx mode is selected. When the IV is a slave unit, it will not transmit any trigger signals. And yes, you can alternate between the Tx and the IV just like that, no re-pairing or reconfig needed.

Question: Can you please explain what settings to use for both the Speedlite YN560 IV as well as the Canon t5i camera to get them to work when attached via the hotshoe? Problem: With the Speedlite attached to the Canon via the hotshoe and both items turned on I receive the the following message in the Canon Menu screen: "This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off'. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

S Christensen The 560IV is a manual flash, not a TTL flash. Only compatible TTL flashes can be controlled through the in-camera UI. Hence you can access the flash settings directly from the rear panel of the flash.

I have one Yongnuo 560 IV flash on my camera as my master and a secondary 560 IV in a softbox. Is it possible to turn off the the onboard flash and only have the secondary flash go off? I've tried pretty much every combination of settings and I can make the slave and master fire, or only the master, but never just the slave! Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought 2 of these. Both, within 2 weeks only shoot in full power, then shut off. A huge disappointment. It was very convenient to control these from the 560 TX. I've kind of lost trust with this company. How many do I need to buy that will work for a long time?

So where in the menu does it control the actual flash head of the Mk IV? And how easy or quick is it to change settings/deactivate that flash or other groups? Can it easily be done on the fly in a quickly changing event like a wedding?
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
The actual flash of the Mk IV itself if controlled when the groups show "--". To deactivate other groups its fairly simple, but it is a few clicks away. It can be done on the fly but it will slow you down a little.

Make sure they are in Rx mode, and are on the same channel as the transmitter.

Question: I purchased two of the IV's in October of 2016. I have used them maybe twice. I use a Pentax K-3. I tried to use both of these a couple of days ago and neither one would fire from my hot shoe. They fired pushing the pilot light but not my shutter. Any suggestions?

I don't want to have a flash mounted to my camera, therefore I am purchasing a 560TX trigger. I want the full control of my flashes (power) from my TX trigger, so my question is do you recommend the IV's or III's. Not sure if there are any differences if I'm using them with my 560TX trigger.

Louie Torres If you wont be needing a flash with a built-in transmitter, then the III's.

Hi! Can the 560IV trigger 560IIIs without firing the flash on the 560IV? Basically, working as heavy 560TX with less features. How do you set up this? Thanks in advance!
@zy_cheng
@zy_cheng 9 лет назад
Felix Catana Yes, that is possible. In Tx mode set the Group to -- and then press MODE until it displays as --. This will disable the flash itself from firing but it will trigger the slaves.

Hi, Possible to use the 560IV as a transmitter for my other 560IV but also at the same time have the same flash set up to receive a 'dummy' flash signal from my camera popflash? I basically use my popflash to trigger my other off camera flashes.
