yngwie 100% knew what he was doing with his "critique" with pantera. I'll respect his opinion, but easily choose a pantera record over a yngwie record anyday.

Yep, I though that. Guarantee that third of the views are PanterA legacy of interest. This asshole's opinion is shit analysis. His personality is much void of heart, soul, touch, and feeling. Transparently shown through in his music and words. Via shit talk and musical regurgitation.. Blueprint-grid masterbation in architecture with appregio-sweep masterbation plan. BORING. Both, in instructon and construction. Palatable portions are small for his neoclassical style productions. H Homogenized, over commercialized characteristics of generic bulk shipment mentality, thinking inside the box-glove compartmentalization. Dime had style righteous personable quality of charisma. Individual,, one if a kind, can't be duplicated. He owned it, and belonged to it. GODDAMN ELECTRIC.

If Yngwie listened to damnation he would change is opinion about pantera. He is coming at it from a point of view where everything has to be played literally perfectly. Dimebag for example, played with soul and basically tore the rule book up when it came to riffs and solos. To compare the 2 of them is futile. But I do think it's funny that he is on the Pantera Home Videos being harassed to enjoy a donut, which he refuses. Philip on the other hand said Yngwie was a "Sap" who is clearly talented but lacks any sort of soul in his playing, while Dimebag would put 100% soul, energy and power into all of his music.

Some musicians are just instrumental virtuoso's But I will say when you put Vai or Malmsteen in an actual "band" where theyre not the leader; they kinda do just fine (Alcatrazz, Whitesnake, David Lee Roth etc). I appreciate his candidness and honesty, but find it kind of pitiful that he appears to believe his playing possesses some fantastic originality and musicality seemingly not present in the majority of the tracks he’s judging - when in actuality his playing gets quickly tedious and boring, and he long ago became a vacuous parody of himself. As a guitarist, I still have huge admiration for his technical skill, and love trying to learn his stuff, but none of it matches the creative intuition of any Dimebag solo. The “I’m Broken” solo is literally one of the the greatest in rock/metal, and way beyond anything Malmsteen’s ever wrote in terms of sounding totally unique and being sonically mind expanding.

Pantera kicks Ass! Music with energy to it! 🤘💀 I've been a fan of Yngwie since 83', in regards to comments Yngwie made, we all have our repititous behavior in what we do, even Yngwie. I miss the days when Yngwie shared the vocals with a lead Vocalist, it was more exciting, just even wondering who was gonna sing on the album. He should ask Geoff Tate to do an album with him, or ask Jorn.

Yngwie Malmsteen is that guy that everyone worships, as a guitar player, but very few metal musicians listen to. His playing is boring and annoying. I guess it matches his personality. Kirk Hammett, so it seems, is the most hated lead guitar player among the group. I understand why. He is creative. These guys hate creativity. Their thing is: be fast, fast, fast and virtuoso to the end. To hide the lack of creativity. To be honest, if you don't like the solos out of "Sanitarium", or "Ride the Lightning", or "My Friend of Misery."... etc. I have nothing to say!

As a guitar player I can say Yngwie is much better than Hamet and more creative for sure. However, I think Yngwie is revered for the wrong reasons. His fans seem to like more his personality and what he portrays and not understand much of his music. A true fan and musical connoisseur likes more music and less Yngwie himself, embracing other guitarists as well instead of rejecting them as some Yngwie fans do. To say being fast and virtuoso hides lack of creativity is silly. Being fast for instance gives you another resource to enrich your music, among other resources. But let's go back with Yngwie and Hamet...to all of you, would you listen carefully to the guitar solo on Enter Sadman? That is the weakest part of the song. I am sure Yngwie would have played that part much better and some fast playing would have been required (interviewer: what do you think of some that say playing one note with 'feeling' is better than a thousand notes? Al Di Meola: that's Bulls***...tell that to a Flamenco player!).

You have no fucking idea what you're talking about. Phil never sang on Pantera's glam albums. They had a different vocalist. And they split with that vocalist over musical differences. Daryl wanted to take Pantera in a heavier direction after hearing Metallica and their then vocalist Terry Glaze didn't. Phil made his debut with the band on Power Metal which had the band already shifting stylistically away from glam into heavier territory closer to speed metal. Phil has tons of extreme metal projects. And I'd hate to break it to you dick, but very few metalheads who are into extreme metal started out listening to the most extreme bands first. Most metalheads start out with the lighter bands and then gravitate later on into the more extreme genres if that's what they're drawn to. I started out on Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Dokken, Motley Crue, and Ozzy before getting into Slayer, Venom, Cryptic Slaughter, Celtic Frost, Kreator, and then later on even more extreme bands like Napalm Death, Marduk, Bolt Thrower, Discharge, Lock Up, Doom etc.

I think the problem is Yngwie's shred songs are his popular ones. He has more straightforward songs and easier pieces too but they aren't as talked about. It's also just a matter of taste. I used to not like Yngwie much and love Pantera, but my musical tastes have changed to more classical, progressive, and neoclassical so I like Yngwie now a lot more than Pantera. Its the same old scales and runs that have been done for the last 30 years ;-p BTW I'm a 45 year old guitar player that was hugely influenced by Yngwie back in the day, so no disrespect, just a poke and prod for fun. Yes Yngwie was a cocky dickhead, but weren't we all when we were 20 and really good at something. He could've very likely been glossing over it to avoid drifting off into a less interesting topic that he wasn't even brought in to comment on. Critiquing other guitar players you were asked about is one thing, going out of your way to negatively critique a player of an instrument you aren't known for, that you weren't asked about, would not the leave the best impression overall and make him seem like a judgemental douche on top of his already divisive personality.

Jeez the Pantera fanbase is one of the worst in metal. To people shitting on Yngwie: he was one of the best guitarist in the 80s and created some of the most memorable guitar album ever. Just like Pantera wrote amazing heavy metal album. I love both guitarist, but anyone saying Yngwie is only fast and that's it OBVIOUSLY never listened to an album by him, and holy shit you are missing out on good music. Rising force is miles ahead in terms of creativity and technicality than most bands (certainly more than Pantera) and was a game changer for the guitar. Incredible well written, new and interesting, especially at his age. I guarantee Dimebag tried to play some of his licks despite what it is said about their relationship. There's NO WAY Dimebag didn't have any respect for Yngwie, as far as his guitar playing goes. They are both legend and seeing how Dimebag seemed to be ( a loveable feel good guy that's 100% about guitar )I can't believe he didn't think Yngwie was good. That's how much he changed everything. EVERY guitarist at one point tried to play Yngwie. Obviously he plays neoclassical stuff he's not gonna like I'm broken it seems very obvious. He just says what he feels like and doesn't lie, and he's right on a lot of thing he said in that interview, you can tell he has some amazing ears If you play guitar or like guitar music and think Yngwie in the 80s/90s is trash and has no emotion that's s because you are either jealous of not being able to play what he plays, or you are tone deaf. Real recognize real, Pantera and Yngwie are both amazing. Yngwie couldn't create a Pantera song, and vice versa. He was an ass but he seems to have chilled out over the year. The interview is from 1994 he was still considered amazing, which is a problem for his ego. It's easy: if you see someone say/write that yngwie is nothing but fast note when talking about his early albums: this person has watched one old yt video of yngwie in the 2000s and has never listened to any of his songs from start to finish. Some pantera fan needs to stop the beer drinking and weed smoking for a second and be real, the flood solo and outro is great no doubt, it's not 'the best thing that happened to guitar playing ever'. Maybe listen to any other metal band.. ever for a second. I guarantee some people like more the Pantera's image (no fuck given, drink and smoke all day and headbang) than the music. I honestly think that if the music of pantera was made by some nerds they wouldn't have had the same success, and still to this day. That's okay, I like pantera and the image they had when I was younger (and still somewhat to this day) I do agree that Yngwie is nowhere near as good nowadays, but his early albums are still top notch Oh and btw, yes Lars was considered a great drummer in the 90s, if you're 16 years old please don't give out your opinion. You weren't there.
