Just subscribed. I’ve been teaching myself with Wlingua. I really love Wlingua. I also use SpanishDict, Babbel, and few others. You’re a talented speaker/teacher!! You go straight to the point and make it fun. You and Dr Evans are my favorite on RU-vid so far. Do you do private lessons ? Thank you 🙏 so much

Can you please explain why 'mi' has 'A' before it but 'Yo' and 'Me' don't?

Mí is a prepositional pronoun. In other words, it's a pronoun we use after prepositions 'a mí, para mí, por mí', etc. 🤓 Yeah, Spanish pronouns are picky like that!

Hi, can you please explain why if 'yo' is the doer, we do not say 'Yo gasté mil euros.' but rather 'Me gasté mil euros.'? In spending money I am the one doing the action am I not?

I'm confused on number 4. Can you please explain why I should use "mi"?
@TellMeInSpanishEng
@TellMeInSpanishEng 11 месяцев назад
'Mí' is always used after prepositions! 🙂 'A' is a preposition. This construction (a mí) is very common with verbs like 'gustar' to emphasize or clarify who likes something.

I heard using e visitado vs yo visitado - it was in a Spanish lesson and I don’t know the difference?

But why “me gustas tú” according from what you said I thought it was yo 😔
@davidkuest6224
@davidkuest6224 7 месяцев назад
It's like saying you please me, not I like you. So tu is the direct object and me is the one being pleased.
@TellMeInSpanishEng
@TellMeInSpanishEng 7 месяцев назад
When we express liking something in Spanish, we conjugate the verb based on the person or thing that is causing the feeling of liking. This might seem confusing because the word order is different from English. But check: "El chocolate me gusta / Me gusta el chocolate", "Las películas no me gustan"...The conjugation matches the subject...So, "tú corres"...."tú me gustas". The subject is not the person experiencing the feeling, but rather causing it.

Here are the corrections! 1. Yo quiero aprender español (use the subject pronoun when talking about actions you perfom) 2. Yo me bañé con agua fría ('bañarse' is a reflexive verb, so we must use 'me') 3. Correct! 🤗 4. Correct! 🤗 5. Correct! 🤗
