Yo Zuri 3DS First Impressions and Quick Speckled Trout Fishing Session 

Thanks for watching! Once the water warms up a little more here, I’ll be chasing reds this spring through fall in my kayak with them. Good lure!

It’s about 4-5 feet at its deepest in this spot, but can get over 8 feet in spots. It’s funny I was talking about swapping out hooks for redfish, and actually lost one of decent size on this exact lure about a week after this. I ended up catching him about 10 minutes later on it, but he was barely hooked. Good trout hooks, but want something a little bigger/more sturdy for the red fish.

A lot of times I do, especially if I know I’m going to be doing catch and release or a lot of shorts in the area. When I’m boating now, I almost never use treble hooks anymore, just more trouble than they are worth if the boats rocking, and got a lively fish you’re trying to dehook. With trout though, their mouths get pretty tore up, so in-line definitely helps there.

@@TopsailFishingAssumine this is the 2-3/4” minnow lure, do you have a recommendation for in-line hook sizing? I bent one of my trebles today, and while I was able to straighten it out I probably should replace it. Was considering going to in-line barbless hooks but have no idea what sizing corresponds. Default trebles are described as 10 and 12.

So hooks size is a tough question to answer, because there actually isn’t a universal standard. Size 1 in VMC may be a size 2 or 3 in Owners. Your best bet is to visually line up the hooks at the tackle store. If that’s not an option, the VMC In-line large ring hooks I use for trout are size 2. Depending what you are targeting would change hook size, too. If you wanted redfish, I could go at minimum a size 1 or bigger, but again you would want to visually inspect that hook size against the lure and make sure it’s a good match.

@@TopsailFishing Thanks! My local Academy store doesn’t seem to have much, but there are some dedicated tackle shops around I can check out to compare sizes. If they don’t have what I’m looking for maybe I can find a variety pack online to do some trials with.

Hi William - I believe this one was Silver Black color.

They will hold for a bit in the strike zone, but ultimately float up. It’s a very slow float though, those twitch and pauses are often what gets the hookup on the pause because it will hold there wobbling a bit.
