**Yoder Smokers on Facebook pointed out that I assembled the bottom shelf upside down. I will be keeping it installed the "wrong" way so that i have a lip around my bottom shelf and nothing i store on it falls off.

Thank you, it has been great so far. Definitely money well spent in my opinion. I'll be doing a video on my thoughts once I get up and going again. I was hesitant buying a Yoder initially. I would absolutely but it again, especially knowing what I do now.

Just an FYI you put your bottom shelf of the cart upside down....

Yeah, I pointed that out in the video description. I prefer it installed the "wrong" way because of the lip around the shelf when it is upside down. I appreciate the comment.

I scoured RU-vid looking for assembly videos before and after I ordered ordered my own. (I don't like reading instructions) I found this video and that was it. This is easily the best assembly video I've seen. It had everything I needed to know, and nothing I didn't. I got my YS640 yesterday. Because of this video, I had it burning pellets in just over an hour and didn't even have to read anything more than the inventory list. If you're buying a YS640, this is the video you need to watch first.

This is an awesome video as I have spend hours and hours of getting pellet smokers. The Yoder representative on the telephone is also super nice and professional. I want to buy it for commercial purpose ... Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for the comment! Depending on how much meat you need to smoke of course, I think the YS640 would work out great for commercial use. The build quality and metal thickness is second to none. Also, if any components break they can easily be replaced.

Great video. Yours is one of the newest out there. I'm looking at getting one. I was hoping you would've had the diffuser plate for grilling. I wanted to see it grill. Hopefully you'll do a follow up on it. Are there any issues so far that you like or don't like? I know you haven't had it very long. I'm thinking of this grill or a MAK. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback! There will absolutely be more Yoder vids to come with a follow up for sure. No major issues that I am unhappy with so far, just a few minor things. The MAK looks like a great smoker, I honestly dont think you can go wrong with any of these higher end pellet smokers.

@@4wolverines They are only minor things at the moment. Small things like the front handle position over the front tray, bottom tray design etc. I plan on doing a comprehensive review in the future. My quick opinion on the Yoder YS640 so far is that if your looking for a structural lifetime sturdy smoker than a Yoder is the only way to go. Other than that i dont think its any better or worse than any other comparable pellet smoker.

Thank you very much. We love it out here, especially raising our kids. The Yoder has been working out great, it has gotten plenty of use and we have really been enjoying it. The plan is to get busy creating more videos shortly and the Yoder review will definitely be one of them. Thanks for the motivation.

I love the Yoder smokers and everything but if I'm paying $1,500 I dont want plastic wheels imo

I agree, who wants plastic wheels! There are many points between all the smokers that are very arguable, but if there is one thing that the Yoder is far superior to all others is the build quality. The wheels are steel and the tires are solid rubber. There are no plastics components to a Yoder YS640.

Hey Jerry, thanks for the comment. We love it out here for sure. The YS640 is holding up great. I would say its number one advantage over other smokers is the thickness of its steel and build quality. Everything else isn't anything spectacular over its competition. They have upgraded the controller since i have purchased mine and added more features. I would recommend spending the extra money on a Yoder only if the quality of build is a main concern.

If you haven't already, you can check out all the different smoker groups on Facebook to get some real world information. "Yoder smoker owners" is one "Rec Tec grills owner forum" is another example. Does it look like your heat diffuser/drip pan bows in the middle from the weight? I have watched a few other videos that show it bowing after a while. Also, how is the controller display? Hard to see in the sun? The potential for bow because it’s so heavy without a vertical support and the crappy old school LCD they use are all that’s keeping me from getting one.

My heat diffuser plate does bow a little now but i would not say its because of the weight. I would say that it is not reinforced enough and warps from the heat. They offer an upgraded diffuser plate for $250 with an access door for grilling but honestly that should have come standard with the YS640 to begin with. Especially with as much money as you spend on Yoder. As for the LCD display, I have not heard of or had any issues with it at all. It has functioned as expected under all conditions.
