Shame these too had to fight so soon. They are both great fighters. Yod's kicks are spot on. Love the fact that yod uses his hands alot to, some thais don't use punches as much.
c'mon everyone! Its clear they were only going 60-70% and the punch combo in the end wasn't even that hard - it was clear that Nareupol gave the fight to Yod. They fight for the same gym and train together, there is no way they wouuld go at each other for real for some TV show...
these two guys are like brothers. they're from the same muay thai training camp in thailand and train together all the time. this was not your average muay thai fight...i liken it to something like an all-star game. both guys wanted to win but neither really wanted to hurt the other guy badly. it's quite probable that naruepol dialed it down a bit and "let" yod win if he needed the money more or something
Naruepol is in the same training camp as yod but yod is better and they both know it. Therefore naruepol dint wanna hurt yod too much as he knew that yod would eventually win and continue in the tournament. In a way he let him win to conserve yod's shape for upcoming fights.
they're both the best. its sad they didnt meet in the finals. naruepel would give yod the best fight ever.but obviously they didnt wana hurt each other,,,AND NOT BECOZ THEYRE FRIENDS ONLY,but becoz they wanted one of them to reach finals without injuries!!they didnt wana injure each other
damn Naru WTF!!? I seen you live in Thailand and I know you can fight WAY better than that!! GEEZ!! But it's alright glad you didn't get killed out there I wish Thailand cared more about thier fighters, thats why I like training in Holland better. Lucien Carbin is the shit!!
listen they both took part an new if they had to fight they would fix it as for the purse well they both took some and it was a stepping stone for yod to get in to k1
@JdoubleRO Not all Thai's enjoy fighting anyway, it can often be the only thing they can do to get money. And Naruepol is more intent on winning, not fighting. Like the time he fought the first guy in Epi 1, he didnt want to hurt him much but he just kept coming and he said to his father that it was tough to beat him up so much like that. If he feels that for a total stranger that they just met, how is he going to feel about beating his friend up? Thais have different attitude to fighting..
naruepol's kick were like touches .. the only time he really threw a kick was at 0:23 and that was the ONLY time that yodsanklai was pushed back so far in the whole of Contender Asia competition ... wish naruepol had tried harder
I hate Souwer but he won that fight at SLAMM IV. Too bad it was K-1 rules. Thai Nuk muays dominated that event though. If you wanna talk about setups watch the Anuwat vs Bassou fight.
you want to see mindless agression from bell to bell. thats not always what makes a good fight. this isnt the best example, but good muay thai is much more intelligent then what your are describing...the first round is always slow, as fighters establish their rythm and find their way through their opponents defenses
its bad enough that Nareupol didnt even try when Yod did actually load up on him....but to pretend to get KO'd is embarressing!! I can spar hard with friends and make it look better than they did.
Disappointing fight from Naruepol point of view.He simply gave up.He shld know that this was goin to come possibly when he join the competition.If he dont have the guts to fight,he shld have join it.But either way,fight or not,Yoddy would have easily beaten him.
Man this fight sucked, but dont misunderstand me.. I just didn't like to see them fight that early. The finale had been okay. Naruepol showed some big heart letting Yod win, just because their from the same gym and i guess Yod been at Fairtex for longer time than Naruepol (Just a guess)

they should never let them pick from that stupid box. should kept it as blue vs red team than for sure naruepol would face yod in the final and u get a better fight from naruepol. sutpid contender think it would be better if they let them pick from the box
Fake fight. Those light kicks and catches This was staged they didn't want to hurt eachother and Yod was the rising star so they set it up for him. 1:46 Yod missed the kick Narupol didn't touch him all that blinking and crap was an act.

Everybody want to fight like the Thai I say fuck it the Dutch and Japanese took the style and made it thier own I'm not going to use the EXACT same techniques on a man thats been trained to use and defend against his entire life. Thats why I prefer Dutch and Japanese kickboxing, better boxing and more aggressive style. I'm not stupid enough to fight like a Thai.
