One of my most precious memories is of the wonderful, uplifting 3-hour meditations that she led daily during the 1970 SRF Convocation. I will never forget the time she led us in the glorious chant 'Jai Guru, jai Guru, jai. Paramahansa Yogananda, jai Guru jai....' After we'd all chanted our hearts out, she said ever so sweetly and with such fervor: "He heard us!"
Wonderful! I'm near the end of Durga Mata's book and wanted to google to learn more about her. I think I've learned more about the SRF organization and Rajarsi from her book than from any other resource (I became a Kriyaban in 1994). I'm surprised it's not available through SRF. Thank you for sharing. Jai Guru
I like hearing we’re not responsible for the first thought, but for what comes in the second, third, etc. If the first one happens to be negative, that’s ok. Just turn the ship around.
Organized religion in the interest of being uniform and efficient tends to blur its own history, Yet distinct examples help us to understand our own individual lives. Self-realized people may be described for being inwardly spherical and indistinguishable due to allowing their sharp corners to be worn off, but outwardly they each have a distinct personality. "Ma Durga" was 'Durga Mata’s' name in 1972, when a mutual friend introduced us. Thank you, Karen, for sharing your experiences.
It was nice to meet and chat with you today Karen. I thought you might be the same person who did these videos years ago. You are certainly living the life and not just repeating stories. Jai Guru.
When I met Durga Ma as a youth all she could talk about was the length of my hair at the time and told me to get a hair cut and how Master, having much longer hair than I, would have said chop it off. Seems to me there are many more important issues in the world than hair styles and given it was our first and last meeting imagine that is the thing you address in our only time together. Amazing I wouldn't care what my child looked like if I hadn't seen them in awhile and only had an hr with them.
Hair is an antennae absorbing energies around. I’m sorry you went through that with a disappointed impression of he, but she most likely wanted to clear some energies she saw that were not harmonious for you. Bless your hair & energies in all directions of time. Jai Maa
Perhaps you weren't ready then. Hair isn't as important as our attitude... our attitude shows in so many ways, even in the way we see our hair. May you be blessed with light and truth in your life.
I want to see you happy, the root of suffering is identification, limitation, and ego... I would be free from that if I can but whatever, when the third eye is open you know it all, it can only be open if you are happy, and you can only be happy whit detachment and you can only get that by meditation... take lots of lives
She got into a bit of trouble by giving a variation of Kriya. When I met her the first thing she said was to comment about by hair and how Yogananda would have told me to cut my hair. Yes only the guru could have long hair apparently. Nothing about my soul my heart my mind my spirit this was about my hair.
I met some of these monastics. I wont say which ones but they were not all that polite to me. It seems to me. That its about what u look like and how much money u have and dont u dare question anything. All of this stuff about other lives and other worlds is just not real for me. BUDDA said not to worry about any of that because all u have is right now . And thats the truth for me.
If you go deep into what Buddha taught, it's about 85% the same as this in teaching/doctrine and 95% same in how it affects your life now. Both are paths of inner meditation and outward service. And no reason not to name impolite monastics--start with Tara Ma & Daya Ma; grandly enlightened beings make lots of what most of us would see as mistakes while in physical bodies. Yogananda did. SRF was downright nasty to Donald Walters (tried to maroon him in New York City basically penniless) and others but still the organization is a VESSEL OF LIGHT in the world. Leaders of SRF are great beings even if their manners and judgment are imperfect. If you want an outfit where questioning is more encouraged, try Ananda Sangha/Episcopal Church/ Unitarianism/small Buddhist group. One of SRF's finest assets is the Encinitas Retreat. I made special trips there on 2 separate vacations, only to find SRF devoted no resources to engaging with visitors beyond allowing us to walk through and sit in a lovely garden, or hand out a pamphlet I already had. The garden was filled with many tourists who I allowed to distract me from meditation. They could learn from how the Mormons train volunteers to tell their story and provide places where you can sit and reflect or pray at Temple Square in Utah.
TOM JONES I am sorry that you had unhelpful experiences. I cannot pretend to know much, but I am gradually finding my was and I know that neither money or looks proffer a key to our Spiritual future. I send you love, light and, should you wish, my Friendship. Namaste. 🙏
@@Ann65. Hi l was Tom Jones now have different name .Thank you for your kind words l do realize that there are good and bad in every group. In my personal opinion l think the teaching is very good it just wood be nice if there was more understanding from the people especially when our society and world is going thru such turbulent times . I just mind my own business keep my side of the street clean try to meditate and be of service when l can in the world and most of all live and let live. Have a happy forever. ✌
I contacted you by accident, yes there are such things. 'since you continue to contact me' sounds like I'm stocking you. No, only the second time apparently and unintentional as I've said. I'm not seeking anything to be found here. So called 'direct experience of god' might just be your imagination have you ever even considered that? Yes it's easy to say 'blame the diving not the sea' or whatever. If it were real they wouldn't be blaming the students for zero results. I met Daya Ma too same deal
You aren't living 'moment to moment' You are living for the imaginary astral future. You detest this moment this world you live in you say is not your home you detain your life here you live totally for a future you imagine with God, Guru and your loved ones. Admit it no Yogi lives in the here and now.
Obviously you have no Self-realization so you have no Self-awareness, Self-understanding, or Self-comprehehensive respect for what you are talking about..
