This is the most clever setup I've seen and I dont even own a 4runner. Its almost as if Toyota designers planned this in there and you figured out the puzzle.
As a current 5gen and multi 4Runner owner guy I have built numerous of beds throughout the years. I have to say this is brilliant and I’m a little bummed I didn’t come up with it myself haha. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Thanks for posting this. I wouldn't have known about this product of not for your post. This is just an easy instead of DIY platform. Thanks again and happy camping.
I ordered mine two weeks ago and have not gotten any word on when I should be expecting the bed. I’ve emailed the company trying to contact. Any help would be appreciate!
Great news!! Yes, we have the extended drawer (the unit pulls out to about 5 feet) At the moment we have the regular drawer system shown here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zQn9ptMfotQ.html
Mine should arrive any day. (Was due yesterday) I’m going to go with plywood (split in two front to back) as I have two Chocolate labs which will be traveling with me.
Yeah, that's a good plan. I would just add a couple small screws from underneath up through the Ikea support into the plywood you're sleeping on. Happy camping and thanks for the comment 🍻👍
I would love to have received this and planned many trips unfortunately after 2 months, multiple emails and phone calls I’ve had to file a complaint with PayPal because this company has failed to respond to any attempts for shipment updates. It’s a bummer because I really think this would have been a good product…
I'm interested in this mainly to get the bed off the floor for storage. Having the rear cargo sliding tray means I lose valuable storage underneath. I'm a big guy, so I'm afraid of losing the headroom also. Its a cool setup either way.
Looked into this and found numerous complaints that this company (Yoho) took money for orders and never sent product. The website is not active (domain name for sale actually). The only benefit to watching this video is to get ideas and copy it yourself!
Please explain how to attach the blocks to the ikea...metal bar...please explain how to protect all interior plastic panels from rub marks...please show your new storage cabinets...
Just got mine. Was surprised that the fasteners used in the blocks that are installed on the skorva were square "R2" (as are many on the frame itself). Some folks might have an R2 in their bit sets but I had to run the hardware store and get a driver.
Hi and thanks for the comment. Those back wheel wells are kind of recessed and have raised edges, not sure if the felt would do much? It's Western red cedar so it's not like hardwood in there so I don't think it's much of an issue.
I'm thinking of getting round magnets off amazon and get screen to block windows from bugs. Before I do I was wondering if there's custom made screens for 4runners? Back window and the sides?
What is the brand and style of your rooftop carrier. I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner and will need to know if this one will fit my Toyota. Where did you purchase? I love this platform system and am waiting for the stick to be replenished and I will order.
I love this system, I have been looking for something like this for a second...my only concern is that I keep the interior of my rig nice...how do you keep this from destroying the plastic over the wheel wells where all the weight goes???
if i wanted too could i buy like a 4 -6 inch matress for this? once i set this up i dont see any reason to take it down... would that not leave enough space
Very nice! You mentioned a sock. I'm wondering if yoho has come up with a weatherproof sock/bag for the materials yet? I'd like to be able to throw this up on the roof rack opposite the ARB awning because we have a dog that needs the head space in the back while we are driving. Once we hit camp we would set this up. Doggo can handle short trips laying down in the vehicle if need be but we would like the option of throwing it all up on the roof without damaging/ warping the wood do to weather. Speaking of. Do you have storing recommendations for the planks so that they don't get warped?
Hi and thanks for the comment. We have a bag coming out in canvas and 420 waterproof denier nylon. As for warping, it actually doesn't matter if anything warps. We picked up some REALLY nasty material to test this out with some severely warped boards. Because the bed frame is basically fitting into a square box (the 4Runner), once everything is assembled and the slats fitted in, everything squares up and lines up. No issues. 👍🍻
This is brilliant! Couple of quick question. Do you have the dimensions for the plywood sheet option innstead of the bed slats. I have a dog. Would I need to cut out the plywood in any particular way to fit the frame? In the video it looks like the corner brackets stick out above the frame (but are below the slats)
Also - would it be possble to have a center post similar to the side posts and use that instead of the ikea center beam? Can you use the same brackets you have and mount end to end? I would envision doing this so I can set up as 60/40 space. 60% as sleeping platform and 40% for storage. When not traveling solo then I would simply use a narrower sheet of plywood and completely cover the sleeping area.
@@olsmxl6975 Hi and thanks for the comment. The bed comes with brackets for the beam already installed. But you could move them over depending on the width of plywood you want to use. The IKEA bed beam is the best way to go because it's very rigid for that span. Depending on the foam mattress or air mattress you use the dog should be okay. I guess it depends on how big he is LOL
Hello, I'm considering buying one of these for my wife and I to camp in our 18 4runner. I was wondering if there's room under or in place of the slats to put a 12v fridge. My thinking was that I could leave the fridge in place like at the foot of the bed and just have the fridge lid support the mattress in that area. It almost looks like it would work of you add the height of the side boards to the height of the wheel well. Let me know if you think that would work. I don't mind flipping up the mattress to access the fridge.
Where can I order the kit with all the wood and stuff to set it up in my 4r? I like that it's all pre-measured and cut already and I'd really like to order one for mine
I have one of those pullout sliding tray in the back and your cabinet will not work with this installed. Are you considering making a slightly smaller cabinet for those with the sliding tray?
Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes it will fit in your truck with the factory slide-out tray. We're working on a lightweight drawer system and we should have it available soon
I noticed this is a for a 5th gen without third row. I don’t have all the hooks and and latches that yours has on my third row equipped vehicle. Are you also working on a platform for third row?
@@yoho4runneroverlandinggear471 i have a 4runner as well, i'm trying to figure out a faster way to get out when car camping, i'm thinking of installing a handle to manually open the rear hatch from the inside, that's why i asked
Hi, yes we have made them for the gen4 4Runner's. Same interior dimensions as the 5th gen. But, the rear seat hooks/latches are lower so we have to modify the side rails. We will have that option to buy available by the end of the weekend. Cheers!
I know this is an old post, however I am curious as to anyone's experience with Foxwood Merchants? Has anyone actually ordered and received a product from them recently. So far my experience is really bad. I ordered on December 10th 2021 and so far as of January 4th 2022 have not received the bed platform I ordered. They have never communicated with me, until I sent them emails, and then I have received false promises.
Same , I’ve talked to tons of people that haven’t received items or false promises. Just get your money back by doing claims . They delete comments on social media to try to cover up. They take the $ but don’t have the materials to make them and make people think they are ready to ship .
My wife and I just received ours today (Mar 30) and it was ordered Jan 11th. Some small issues with quality control (I had to flip the brackets on the back board around) but otherwise it works as shown. We had to badger them via email constantly for updates and they only shipped when my wife threatened to cancel the charges with our credit card company. Not impressed with their lack of customer service. Hoping nothing goes wrong with the actual product or I fear we will be left hanging.
@@jessewatson4436 Yes we are in the US. We understand there are supply shortages in almost every industry these days but the lack of communication from this company has been terrible.
Hi and thanks for the comment. The bed frame is 14 pounds with hardware. 1x Single drawer is 30 pounds. 1 IKEA center beam is I believe 5 pounds. Slats are 10 pounds.
No they just take orders and then dont ship them out , call email DM and they make excuses about stuff and don’t do anything. Think it could be great now they just stealing $ basically
🤣🤣🤣 who sells something that you have spend another 70 bucks to even be able to use? Why not just sell it all together-air mattress too. 170 is a good price for everything needed to actually use this.
