1. What camera do you use?
I shoot most walks on a DJI Pocket 2 or my iPhone 15 Pro Max. For drives, it's the same cameras - but on a dashcam mount.
2. Where do you live?
I live in the southeastern United States. Kentucky, specifically.
3. What do you do for a living? I work in the coffee industry. That’s all you’ll get from me on that.
4. How do you pick the locations that you film?
I film in places that I go for work, and also in places that I travel to - finding amazing travel deals is a bit of a hobby of mine.

Thank you for the walk! Did you encounter any Japanese businesses using American culture as a gimmick? Was your impression that Japan has a better understanding of American culture than Americans do of Japanese culture? I'm very curious about that.

Fascinating questions! I did run into quite a few stores that were using western slogans, imagery, etc. to move merchandise…but no more so than you see Japanese or Chinese characters used here in the States. Also the slogans were frequently nonsensical or out of place - as I’m sure many of the Asian words are as well if I could read them on shirts/hats/etc here. As for American culture - I would say pop culture was on display to a degree - but one really interesting thing was how western foods had been assimilated as comfort foods but in unusual or unfamiliar ways - like Spaghetti with ketchup, or omelets filled with rice, or hot dog buns with soft serve ice cream…. It was interesting! As for your last question - not sure I talked to enough Japanese folks to answer it - but I would say that American culture seemed to be represented by retail and fast food chains…and movies… much like Japanese culture is represented in the US by anime and car/electronic brands. That’s a bit over simplified, but it was my take.
