I was a foster PK kid. And I went through some awful things living in my foster home. So please don’t judge. That’s only for God to do. I am listening right now. Because my Grown sweet good children raised up the right way. Has turned on me and causing me so much disrespect and talking to me like I am nothing right now. Like i didn’t raise them right. My girlfriend was dying from cervical cancer and I went on a leave from work to take care of her so that she wouldn’t have to die alone! The day that she passed away I sang this song to her before running an errand. I was gone for an hour and when I returned she was already gone. I was so upset that I wasn’t there for her when she transitioned. I blamed myself for so many months for running that errand! Now I see that it was probably easier for her to leave without me there!! I will always love you NANI!!! Never forget that!
The same I was 3 lights away from my mom's house in the car on my way and my brother called and said she passed 10 mins before I got there. She passed from cancer last year.

As a kid i didnt understand the power of gospel music so i always brused it off and respectfully listened… now as a grown man i feel it with my heart and soul. This song is still my favorite 25 years later. I’m almost 40 and this song still hits my spirit in a way like none others because I know where God has taken me and brought me out of. The reminder of this battle is not mine is powerful. It is always for the Lord to fight. Took me forever to understand but when I got it, boy I was happy to turn over those battles to the Lord and say Lord you handle them. I was going through such a terrible season in my life, I couldn't understand, anything and why I was going through it, thinking I wasn't learning anything from the situation..suffering so much, I listened to this song, over again praying, n asking God to help me, but then just yesterday he fixed the problem and delivered me . And I made peace with my enemies in a way I thought would never happen. I just want too tell someone this morning about god,i had breast cancer the same doctor i tell something is wrong for 5 years, you are young now 2015 he said you have stage 4 breast cancer, and the first think i said god i am coming home,but god turn it around i never had stage 4 and even the doctor at king county hospital die dr lewis,you never tell me sorry that you mess me up but god turn it around and i thank you god

This is such a touching and powerful song! I've been listening to this song/version daily for nearly three years now, it not only inspires me but also gives me strength. During this time I've loss two older brothers (who were twins to cancer), my Mom (from pneumonia at age 89) and I was diagnosed with cancer in late 2021 (had major surgery in Feb 2022). So I guess it's easy to see why I find so much comfort in this song.
