Join County Curator, Iulia Bodeanu, in collection storage for a history of crazy quilts.
Scraps of textiles such as velvet, silk and cotton were stitched together by hand to create abstract patterns that incorporated family mementos. Stitching was overlayed on top to create even more patterns and as a way for women to display their sewing abilities. While these quilts look haphazard, they are thoroughly planned out. These quilts were showcased in homes as decoration rather than as functional items, while demonstrating the artistic skills of women in Victorian households.

The Yolo County Historical Collection is comprised of 11,000 objects which date from the 1830s to the 1930s. The collection includes textiles, agricultural equipment, paintings, archival materials, ephemera, photographs, archaeological items, tools, ceramics, household items, furniture, and personal items. This collection illustrates what life was like for early Yolo County residents.
