Yondu was that Parent who keeps reminding you to pay back that loan they gave you but in actuality they're using that as an excuse to either call and or visit you.
Yup😂 love Yondu, is this series, he was amazing. Man I cried like a baby, when he died. He is hard, and I know ppl like that, but they have a heart but they don’t show it a lot of the times. And yeah..lo this movie and series hit home a lot. Love em.
Man, even in Yondu's first appearance, he had a very dad-like approach with conversing with Peter even if he tried hard to conceal it. You can really tell despite they don't always see eye to eye, Yondu really was Peter's daddy. Ego was only the father biologically but Yondu was the dad he needed.
The most inspiring thing about their relationship is how Yondu was more of a father to quill than Yondu’s own parents were to him, selling him into slavery as a child
You never realize that Yondu only said those things to placate his crew, even punishing him in front of the crew he was pulling his punches and making a show. "CAUSE YOURE SOFT, HERE! IN HERE!!!" LMAO if that isn't Yondu himself
when i was just a little kid, i never noticed how much of a loving father he was. he never was gonna kill quill and everytime he had to act tuff on quill he holds back and stalls.
@@dm3402 I mean he was going to actually kill Quill in front of his crew, he was just relieved Quill came up with a valid excuse for him to not have to.
3:10-3:14 Yondu's expressions here tell me he fully expected Peter to pull something out of his butt and save himself. I don't think he ever intended to kill him, but he needed a way to save face with the crew and an excuse to let him off the hook (again), and he knew Peter would come up with something.
Dude Yondu's deep southern accent makes me laugh more then anything the way he says boy and the way he said "I know what he's got gorrll" just has me dying
Yondu already decimate half of Thanos's troops quickly before Cap said the word "Assemble". (Change Captain Marvel to a Yaka Arrow and the outcome will be the same ehehe)
I think his final scene in Vol. 1 should have been included here as well because even though it's short it's very impactful and really shows us what kind of a man he is even from the first movie. It's when he opens the orb that supposedly holds the infinity stone and he sees that Peter has swapped out the stone for a troll doll, and he just looks at it smiling, not even a little bit angry. He probably knew all along that Peter would trick him, but he didn't expect the trick to be a personal gift for him which made him flash us a smile full of pride for his boy.
since the MCU is making all of these shows that only a small part of the fandom want to see, I say why not make a show dedicated to young Quill and Yondu's adventures together in space in the style of animation they made for the Guardians Holiday Special, I think everyone would like that!
What a story arc. He went from one of the characters I hated the most in GOTG 1 to me choking back tears in GOTG 2. That's incredible writing, directing and acting
*SPOILER ALERT* When he briefly appears in that memory/flash in GotG3 I nearly lost it. Fought back tears. Did that plenty of times, Gunn made an absolutely beautiful sendoff for the original Guardians
Yep. Even when he tried to hide that around the Ravagers, it's clear that Yondu genuinely loved and cared for Peter too much to want to hurt him. He even showed reluctance to hand the Guardians over to the Sovereigns in the sequel! Even though Yondu is not exactly the best father figure to Peter Quill, he cared for Peter to the point where he sacrificed himself to save his adoptive son!
Yeah dude was wondering the same that was so badass just whistling and knock off everyone After all that efforts he did to get that arrow with the help of baby groot😂
I met Michael Rooker at New York Comic Con a few years ago. I said to him, "After I saw the first movie, if someone told me that I'd be crying when Yondu died, I'd have said they were crazy." He said that it was all because James Gunn is such a great writer/director. Although, personally, I think Chris Pratt's performance (particularly 9:03) and Tyler Bates' score deserve some credit for making me cry.
Michael Rooker deserves some credit too. You can have a great script and a talented director but it's still on the actor to carry that through. It says a lot about him that he won't take credit for this role, though; he by all accounts seems to be a very solid guy.
I made a ball! A ball? I thought as hard as I could and that’s all I could come up with You thought? You think when I make this arrow fly I use my head?! Seriously underrated lines in the whole movie!!! 🤗
Would love to see him back in the rumoured ravangers prequel. Cried more at his death than iron man. They nailed it with the acting and music for that scene
James Gunn is a different director but he helped brought 2 of my favorites mcu characters , rocket and yondu. Yondu was a lot smarter than he let on, how he was always trying to figure out who and what he was dealing with. But that "I'm Mary Poppins yah" is the best line in any movie
In hindsight, it so cool seeing Yondu smile as Quill starts saying "If you kill me now..." Back then it seemed like he was just being cocky. Now we know he was really just like "Okay good shit thanks for giving me an out on that one I was never gonna kill you"
After rewatching this Yondu is actually a hero and trying to prevent the stone and many others things getting in the wrong hands. He says he’s gonna sell it or this or that but it’s mainly to act tough. In reality he’s a daddy, he’s a good man trying to make his way in the galaxy.
I like the little details that James Gunn gives these characters. Like how Yondu collects little dolls. Then we see the collection later. It’s a small trait but it fleshes out the character. The same with all the other Guardians.
I can just imagine Yondu during Quill's childhood/teen years like: -"you're on that damn thing too much, get your behind out to get me some money boy" - "Now when a ravager and a lady really like each other, they do the thing, and then a baby comes together, now boy remember, a good ravager doesn't leave a baby in the lady when he leaves". "No, that's not how you drive, I might be from the backseat but I can tell you've got the wrong buttons on". "If you don't go to bed BOY, I'm going to serve you for lunch tomorrow". -"Rule 101 of stealing Quill, always play on their sympathies". "Here boy, you're 16, now let's make sure you can use it properly so you don't mess it up". Just Yondu trying to pretend he doesn't care but in actuality he's going dad mode.
Yondu is my favorite guardians of the galaxy character of all time because he’s serious he’s badass he’s hilarious and Michael rooker is an awesome actor for this role 💯😈👍😀💎💰🔋
“I’m sorry I didn’t do none of it right. I’m damn lucky you’re my boy.” As a kid whose father had issues while I was growing up, it broke my heart to hear that from yondu. He may have messed up but it never changed the love he had for Peter…
