You can see the bias against Lin Dan. For shots Lin Dan hit too far out, there was a reply, but there was non on Hyun. I can tell the shot was out even from this resolution, at least the judge can do a better job to correct the mistake by checking the replay. It is very frustrating to play competitive sport without fair ground.
What a terrific match! Lin Dan’s frustration is totally understandable. He fought very hard to earn those last few points. And then you can see the biased and wrong call from line judge. Main umpire did the right thing I would say but the damage to LD’s composure was already done. Hard luck champ!
I don't see how anyone could accuse Lee Hyun Il of "cheating"? There were several dodgy calls throughout the match, and where the umpire (a non-Korean) thought they needed correcting, he did. He was clear that the call which caused the outburst was fine, in his eyes. In the end, it was Lin Dan's lack of composure and errors that cost him the match, but WHAT a match that was! The play from both men was amazing! It's like in any sport though, if it goes against you on the day, you put it to one side and just GET ON WITH IT!
Lin Dan here had the better strokes and Lee Hyun Il had the better footwork and composure. But we have an inside joke here in my gym where we say "Korean line judge" before making a wrong call on purpose due to this game. Usually we are allowed 8 Korean Line Judge calls on any game April 1st. Lol
