Great looking Wakizashi, man. I got myself a T10 tool steel katana for only $157. You are exactly right and I also mention this in my video - most modern steels are WAY superior to the traditional medieval tamahagane steel. Too bad katana cultists can't get this through their head.
Well made tamahagane katana could put 10 cm hole in steel helmet without rolling chipping or scratching. You have documentary about that. Btw traditional katana have good balans and geometry since they are forged and not grinded. I don't see how tamahagane(high carbon) blade with superior geometry is worse than some trash modern blade with bad balance and fittings that are made from crap and not right size.
Yep its clay tempered , but i doubt very much its t10 for $100 i can see you hurting yourself with that , you cant tell its tool steel unless you you get it rockwell tested , t10 is reserved for expensive blades , if it scratches during messing with it its carbon steel , tool steel doesnt scratch up
I really like your energy, I stumbled upon this video last week and referenced it again tonight, I shall be looking through your channel. I expect more great content, keep up the good work
Good review and that thing looks nice. Been looking for a decent budget wakizashi and I think I'm gonna go with this one. Thanks for posting this and sharing the info!
This is the very first video I’ve watched from you when you still had 400 subscribers and I’ve been subbed ever since, and I do not regret that decision hahaha
@@VeganJutsu Jesus you’re still hearting and replying now that’s dedication. Also I have a T10 katana it’s pretty good also mate how do you recommend sharpening a katana since my old whetstone is gone is there like another way or do I have to buy another whetstone
@@nolife097 you don't have to buy new stones, although it requires a bit more finesse. The bottom of ceramic mugs are about 1000 grit. I usually use a ceramic mug to touch up blades. But with a longer blade length it's not ideal. You could try and find ceramic plant pottery with a wider more flat base and use this as your abrasive stone. There's is alot of other ways including using wet sanding paper secured to a flat base and working through more finer grits.
I really like your vibe and how you think, I have no blades anymore but wish to get back into it. I prefer shorter blades like this that in my opinion are better suited for high agility, fast paced movement. Thank you for the video!
Has this held up? I'm so tempted. I want a Waki so bad lately, but I don't want to pay a respectable price because I don't know if I'll like it. The colors look exactly like what I would want. The price is right.
Good video dude. Never heard of them before. Will be interesting to see how she holds up. Lots of those amazon blades have issues with either being too hard or too soft. Hopefully this one is a good one...
I've beat this blade to Valhala and back. Check out my videos! Still haven't sharpened it and still sharp blade. When it no longer cuts I will sharpen to 30,000 grit virtuvice style
Awesome video and you are right. Today’s situation with riots, looters, protesting mobs this better for close combat defense than a full katana. Thanks for sharing for I will get and train on it. Does that sword break down like the full katana? Full tang? Removing the two pins and thump release?
I cannot measure as I've fitted an axe handle to this blade. The manufacturers specs read as follows: Overall Length: 30″, Blade Length: 20 1/2″, Handle Length: 9″ Hand Forged T10 steel Clay Tempered Steel Blade Thank you for your comments friend
Looking at the handle wrap materials on these swords and wondering if it's possible to get a company to test out a handle wrap like on the CRKT Obake line of knives. Those knives use a kind of imitation rayskin wrap, but they're epoxied in place and more solid than a real leather wrap. If that concept works on a sword wrap it'd not only be vegan friendly but possibly stronger than traditional materials, almost never needing to be re-tightened. This would also challenge the fear that sword companies have to make "high end" stuff with non-traditional materials and not make it look like something out of a zombie movie If swords were still serious battle weapons, they'd def be made with the kind of synthetic materials used on high end sports equipment like tennis rackets, given that natural leather is vulnerable to moisture and temperature changes.
@@petermiller1839 I like your style. This was my first video and it's not very good. The Chinese war sword and others I chop through 4 watermelons and two pumpkins
Yes I have traditional Okinawa background both open hand and multiple weapons. Taught by my late sensei Shi Han Morris Mack as well as additional Shodan Ranks in other styles and dojo. Also my father is a Traditional Gung Fu practioner from Hong Kong but there was no schools in my city to learn so he taught me alot from young ages until Japanese Karate Dojo opened up they enrolled me at 3 years old, I left at 16 was a big mistake I thought I was to old to train. But I continue and taught later in University. And now I just train for fun
@@VeganJutsu : ok cool just asking as there are *a lot* of videos on YT showing people hacking at water bottles etc that don’t seem to have any kind of stance or anything and just seem to swing wildly at them. Just a suggestion, maybe update your info to reflect your experience.
Im an African and I totally Love Katanas and would love to have one some day. I had a vision and this is the message I got. The "katana tatsi urinbitsu" I don't know if that's even a real word but I will love to find out.
why not cut the top ? and what did you do with the knife didnt it cut the tape ? you need a new knife pal. its very sharp it cut through the air a good few times, the same company does cold steel 1060 carbon blades .. this turkeys gonna hurt himself badly ! heres a fact pal the steel was crap back in the katana days AND there wasnt much of it , they were usually only hardened along the cutting edge , and 1000s of years ago equates to 1100 ad were in 2000 ad , that cheap half copy is probably better made than 20 original katanas thats a fact
Yup I'm pretty sure I said that T10 is superior to any katana they had in samurai period. I was trying to avoid cutting the tape because its hard to clean from the blade. This sword is still going strong its very well made for only $100. Thank you for your comment friend
I wouldn't consider it a cheap sword I would considered it a reasonable priced sword especially for those people who do not want to spend chunks of money on a over Priced sword.
I’ve been trying to find a good katana that is pretty cheap I think this is the one can it cut a coconut will it start to get wobbly after you cut hard stuff please reply and subscribe if you can🙏🏼
Howdy friend. Yes there is a video called "is the yongli strongly" i cut and baton seasoned hard woods and cut through 8 water bottles easily. It will smash a coconut the last coconuts I was able to break open with a pocket folding knife. That video is called "basic edc jutsu strikes" This sword is very nice but the handle did crack. I replaced the handle with an Axe handle in the video called "ko katana build" i will sunscribe to you friend. Many blessings.
I can't believe you unwrapped all that tape like that! 🤣 Because your thumbnail to this video says vegan I was waiting to hear if it was real ray skin or not.
Yes. The tang is full but it's a one pin design and it's weleded at the pommel. I did a rehandle to an axe handle and love it. There is a video of the build. It's still going strong
Hey sorry I don't have any 9260 to compare. I will consider this steel on my next sword purchase. My favorite steel is 80crv2 and 3v, I'd say T10 is harder than 1095 and similar in strength to 5160. Of course a good heat treat is essential so I shop by forge/maker not just steel
Well maybe better than 1000 years ago but t10 isn't superior to traditional Japanese steel. T10 is only superior in being stainless. T10 is between 1095 and 440c but less chromium than 440c.
I just bought the updated 2022 version. The one from this video has great edge retention and very little damage even after all these years of chaos. Agreed tho that in modern days it's nothing special but for $100 it's very hard to compete in this value.
sales person said all (real) Katanas have a 2 cm distance from end of blade to butt of handle to prevent rust. I did not see your video with the take apart. @@VeganJutsu
