Also Steven Tyler, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Ella Fitzgerald. On a less positive note, Antony Blinken, the current US Secretary of State. I spent a lot of years in Yonkers. Super-hilly town, as you can get a sense in this video. There are some tough neighborhoods, but there are also incredible views from the top of some of the hills.
Yonkers looks more like jersey hoods than the boroughs. Many parts remind me of market and park street in paterson as well as parts of Jersey City and Newark. The 5:22 mark looks exactly like park ave in paterson, wow. Very similar vibe. I've heard Newburgh a little up north in New York was pretty bad, not sure how true that is.
Yonkers native here. We are known as “The City of Hills” due to exactly what you observed. If you want to see a crazy hill, go on Google Maps and go street side on Roberts Avenue for the entire length. It’s like a ski slope.
Go to Phoenix Arizona and visit the following areas: 27 Ave Indian School Rd, 47 Ave Indian School Rd, 57 Ave Clarendon Ave, 59 Ave Indian School Rd, 51 Ave McDowell Rd, and the suburbs near Alhambra High School, Maryvale High School and Trevor G Brown High School.
central worcester massachusetts looks like somewhat like that but is in the process changing. everytime I drive through chandler street it needs a facelift
@@scottbrenham1341 ive never really been through worcester but since i live right next to woonsocket and go to school there everyday and most of my family is from there ive always been very familiar with it and how it looks theres also a lot of hills and triple deckers like in this video and some of the areas kinda look like this but probably not as bad
you should hit some long island hoods. hempstead, wyndanch, brentwood, central islip, roosevelt, and a few more spots. lotta spots on the island that are far different what people think of when they heard long island.
So idk that I would call Yonkers a hood, there are actually some really nice areas in Yonkers, like anywhere there are less nice areas. The main issue is it boarders mt Vernon which one could say is a hood. That particular part of ny though, mt vernon, Yonkers and white plains area your in and out of the good and bad parts depending which way you head. Like your vids, keep it up!
Yonkers is big. It runs from the Bronx river parkway to the Hudson River from the bx all the way up to Scarsdale basically. Plenty of Yonkers if not the majority is really nice. Like some of the most expensive areas in the country type nice.
This area looks like a serious fire hazard. So many wooden houses and tenements crammed in together where, if the conditions are right, the whole place could go up. A hood in Chelsea, Mass. did in 1973.
I have a dear friend who lives on Rumsey Rd a short walk from her spacious fenced in yard and garden, is the tennis and pool club. So many classic New England mansions - tudors, colonials, farmhouses, etc - million dollar homes. Yonkers is a textbook example of, like my hometown, New Haven, Ct.- abject poverty juxtaposed with extreme wealth, entire socioeconomic cues and structures markedly change in the length of a single city block
Неплохо 👍 Городок выглядит вполне живым. Чисто, аккуратно. Даже ( первый раз!) увидела маму с коляской 😊 Дома даже в 4 этажа есть. Уже похоже на город ! // Not bad 👍 The town looks quite alive. Clean, neat. I even (for the first time!) saw my mother with a stroller 😊 There are even houses with 4 floors. It already looks like a city!
A lot of midwestern cities abandoned, a past from its industrial days. Yonkers for 2 decades has been going through an urban renewal process, to help reduce the crime and also for any New York resident that’s looking for a cheaper alternative from NYC.
Damn now this looks like a real east coast hood right here. Busy, run down, yet still safe enough in the day time if you MYOB. Lots of colonial style buildings. Looks like almost anywhere else in the NY-Boston super region.
It’s daytime, there’s certain areas where you don’t want to be at night. It’s a strange city in comparison to other areas near it. This video shows a couple areas where you don’t want to be at night but there’s more
I recently found your channel and I have been enjoying these videos. I have one request though, I would appreciate it if you can add details such as the day/time of the recording. I guess it is the Clinical Psychologist in me that wants to analyze the details such as behaviour, sociocultural behaviour, etc. etc. With great appreciation from South Africa.
Нормальный район. Свежий асфальт, даже цвет еще не поменял. Крепкие дома, не заброшенные. Общественный транспорт. Только так много машин припарковано у домов посреди дня. Это съемка в выходной? 🤔
If I decided to move to the beautiful red brick apartment building in Yonkers New York , I can walk downstairs and go outside to Trust Pharmacy to get my medications.😷
Manhattan has the upper east side AND Harlem and other dumps. Same for Yonkers. I don't know where the Kimber factory is or was. But it's probably not in a ghetto residential area or a nice one either.
I think they moved upstate. I don’t think they’re there anymore. But they used to be in an industrial section of town, not in these residential neighborhoods
@@LyricalTamponthe southwest side has lots of crime at night. Homecides, (hard) drug deals, drug OD’s especially in the building across from shop rite on riverdale. You don’t want to be on elm st Or school st at night.
Riding through places like this really puts shit in perspective and makes me appreciate the fact that I don’t live there in that environment-stay humble, stay blessed!
@@Piggy-Oink-Oink There have been plenty wars over the years. You're not going to agree with the current president no matter what anyway. If he wasn't assisting Ukraine Then Trump would be saying he's not protecting our foreign interests and national security and you would be agreeing with that. Trump doesn't care about you unless you're rich. If he wins it's not going to be about you, me or anybody but his own personal interests, and revenge, and it'll be worse this time because he'll have nothing to lose.
