I went the eye dropper route with a platnum preppy sign marker to play around with fountan pen in this different way. I absolutely want to fill one up with blue ghost after seeing your video with it. Got the ink and the pen, just need a UV light! The Kuretake Karappo certainly look interesting.
North African Violet was one of the first inks I bought a sample of when I got into fountain pens because I like the color so much, but I soon wrote it off because it's the least light-fast ink I have ever used, fading away remarkably quickly when left exposed in a bright room.
It’s a shame that I don’t get to hear those felt pens write, but nevertheless, a great in-depth review of both felt pens. - I never actually tried both of these before so I’m going to buy both and see which one I like, thought if I had to go pick either one, I would most likely to pick the Yooker Yooth, simply because it uses a cartridge/converter filling system and it’s mess-free to say the least. - Could you do a red inks comparison overview in the somewhat near future? I know you’ve done blacks, blues, greens, oranges and browns, but not reds. So it’ll be really nice if you could do a video on just the red inks.
Thanks I do a red and green ink episode every year at Christmas, but I will definitely do a ”red" episode in the future. The next ink episode is going to be blue-black however, so it might be a while.
How long did the nib of the yookers pen last for you? An issue I have with felt tip pens is how the tips wear. They always develop an edge and if I rotate the pen, it writes thinly on one side and really thickly on another. Eventually the whole tip wears away and I have to replace it. Does the yookers pen have the same issue?
You can let the Kuretake saturate the entire wick. The plastic coating on the wick prevents ink from getting onto your fingers. I will take some extra care dry the bottom of the witch where the ink did make it on the outside as to prevent it from getting ink all over the inside barrel of the pen.
The package says that you must wipe the reservoir with a paper towel or tissue before putting it into the pen body. That is why you have a big smear of ink on the inside. Ordinarily this does not happen. The package also says that once the end cap has been put in place it cannot be removed. Can you show us your refilling method so we know it's possible to do it?
Interesting!: the Dutch filling mechanism is definitely much more appealing; know Platinum does a felt tip nib for the Preppy: how does it compare in line width with these two?(interested in finest line possible)
