I grew up in the 1950’s and 1960’s, when new nations were forming out of fading colonial structures and thus both some conservatives and especially liberals rejoiced at what they commonly called “the Age of Nationalism,” so it is so strange now to hear the term in such extreme derogatory manner. Do these people know any history? At all?
Ever consider meaning of the term in common usage has changed? In a post-colonial era, the goals of nationalism have essentially been attained... so why are there so many "nationalists"? It's now a dog whistle to fascists.
From France to Yoram Hatzony: why don't you talk about Ben Gvir's and Smotrich's declarations who clearly call for annihilation of Gaza that's to say genocide ? Why don't you talk about the videos and state speaches south African lauyers shows to the world at the ICJ ? What about the Netanyahou references to Amalek ? Is this not a call for genocide ? You say that we should have boundaries for free speech and genocide appeals can't be parts of free speech. I agree but why don't you apply this to gazans? Why don't you talk about the israeli extremists who calls for genocide ? Yeshahiaou Leibowitz condemned them and also Zeev Sternhell. And you ? You are not honest in your speech even if you seems to be. I'm sorry for my middle english level, i'm not fluent.
