Could you imagine being Eighteen in June of 1914, the flower of your Nation's youth, and hearing for the first time the words "Someone shot the Archduke" and not truly registering what's about to come down the line for you. Unbelievable

Nothing about German soldiers in the First World War requires any disclaimer, any more than those of other armies of that war. But beyond, that this is some excellent and well put together footage with a fine version of the classic Beethoven march.

Those guys being reviewed by the Crown Prince must have been on their way to Verdun. Imagine that most of those marching past didn't survive into the next year.
