Da werden Erinnerungen wach! Ich habe in den 90er Jahren in York an der Uni drei Jahre studiert und komme immer noch ab und zu beruflich bedingt dort hin. Ich konnte längst nicht alles sehen, aber die Gassen und alten Mauern von York sowie der Cliff Walk von Scarborough nach Robin Hood‘s Bay and einem eiskalten sonnigen Januartag werde ich nie in meinem Leben vergessen

Wish I had met you when you were in my part of the UK (Northumberland), I like German people, I always regard them as our nearest cousins along with the Dane's.
The best travel show I've ever seen! This must have taken a lot of research and the results prove this point.... well done! I live in the West of the UK. as it happens, on the side of a mountain. Don't be so dramatic. All this talk about 'saving', 'keeping' England or 'losing' England. England is not going anywhere! It is still hale and hearty, as this kindly German travel doc shows! The MSM tries to make us permanently fearful. Usually fearful of 'outsiders'. It is the oldest trick in the book.
Ich habe vor kurzen das neue Wunderschön-Buch gelesen. Da hatte ich hier mit dem Film auch die Hintergrundgeschichte dabei. Das machte das Filmerleben noch mal ein paar Stufen interessanter. Sehr gelungen. Danke liebes Wunderschönteam für eure tolle Arbeit.
@@ARDReisen Die Szene mit dem Haus des Grauens und den Türen, bei denen sich Tamina zu Tode erschreckt, die wurde auch im Buch sehr treffen beschrieben. Das Buch gibt wirklich sehr schöne Hintergrundinformationen, welchen Aufwand und welche Herausforderungen das ganze Team zusammen meistert, damit wir als Zuschauer 1,5 Std Unterhaltung haben. Ich hatte auch den Film mit der Witwe von Pavaroti gesehen und auch da war das Buch eine sehr gelungene Ergänzung! Weiter so! und gerne auch wieder mit Begleitbuch. Das ist eine Super Kombi.
I am from the North of England (the other side of the Pennines) and this popped up in my recommended list. This is a beautiful and respectfully produced travel documentary! Sometimes it takes visitors from abroad to remind you how lovely this country can be! To our German cousins (I have always had a close affinity to our German friends), thank you for this!
Ich habe mich über diesen Reisebericht riesig gefreut. Ich wurde in Scarborough geboren, dort wuchs ich auf, wohne und arbeitete aber fast vierzig Jahre in Deutschland. Oft wurde ich gefragt, wo ich her komme, mit Scarborough kannten die Meisten das Lied, wussten fast überhaupt nichts von der Stadt. Es kam mir vor, als die meisten Deutsche Touristen nach einem Besuch in London machten sich entweder nach Cornwall (Rosamunde Pilcher!) - oder Richtung Schottland auf. Vielleicht ein kurzer Abstecher nach York, aber dann Gas geben bis nach Edinburgh und weiter. Die Wenigsten wussten, was für Schätze rechts und links der Hauptstraße Richtung schottischer Grenze liegen. Ich fand die Auswahl nicht schlecht, man bekommt einen kleinen Einblick in der Region, die natürlich viel mehr anzubieten hat als was man in einer Sendung von anderthalb Stunden zeigen kann. (Schade nur, dass Tamina die "Fish and Chips" in Whitby nicht probiert hat). Aber toll gemacht! 👍
Yep❤ ich habe früher in North Yorkshire gelebt und bin wieder nach Österreich zurück… Aber ich vermisse es noch immer 😢und die Fish & Chips in Whitby sind soo lecker 😋 ❤

@@ARDReisen Nöö, leider nicht mehr- ich war zuletzt 2005 in North Yorkshire in Scarbourogh.😊 Wobei die Stadt Harrogate auch sehr schön ist bzw. ich damals dort gearbeitet hatte. 🥰 In ganz UK kann Tamina bestimmt noch tolle Ecken und Plätze entdecken... 🤩😍
@@ARDReisen Ja, normalerweise sind wir alle drei- oder vier Jahre drüben, aber aufgrund Corona-Pandemie mussten wir die gegenseitigen Besuche einstellen. Ich war deshalb erst dieses Jahr in April dort, das erste Mal seit Sieben Jahren. Wir verbrachten einen Tag in Scarborough, alle Geschwister waren anwesend, das erste Mal alle zusammen seit 2016. Und dann kurz Blumen auf das Grab der Eltern gebracht. Natürlich haben wir im Fisch-Restaurant zusammen gegessen. Und wenn es um Fish und Chips geht, ist Whitby mit Abstand Weltmeister. Das sage ich als Scarborianer, sogar. (Ja, es existiert auch eine gewisse Rivalität zwischen den beiden Städten).

For those who may be interested in history, check out Eden Camp Museum, Malton, north Yorkshire. From 1944 to 1948 Germans were here the 'guests' of the British Government.

As a Yorkshireman, the best word I had for this show was "Klasse". Strangely the next show advertised on RU-vid from this channel was in Valencia province. My girlfriend's family had a house near Scarborough, then a house there in Spain. Please do come back and look at West Yorkshire. I reckon you would enjoy the Industrial Museum in Bradford, Piece Hall in Halifax, Saltaire, Worth Valley Railway, Leeds Liverpool Canal and some of the attractions of the Yorkshire Dales, with lots more sheep.

@@ARDReisen If you time it well you may get to see some outdoor plays at Sandal Castle or Pontefract castle, or the Pomfret archery tournament. Castleford has a Roman festival every year. The Yorkshire Mining Museum and also the Yorkshire Sculpture Park are also worth checking out and close to one another.

Some really nice places around there. Steeped in history, and much of it unchanged for a few centuries. Vilages like Hinderwell, and the fishing town of Whitby, and of course the old capital York. Lots to see, and without the craziness of London or Manchester.

This is fantastic congratulations on a brilliant job.. so many of my favourite local places. As a boy I used to direct cars and pick litter at Beamish Museum. It was very small back then...
This was a really enjoyable and informative tour around North East England. Tamina is a very professional and personable guide. I particularly liked the part from Hadrian's Wall to Newcastle when she teamed up with Jodie Whittaker.
Some friends and I had a "Ghost Walk" with Dr Crank, it started at the whalebone arch and took us around town while he told various local ghost tales. He's a wonderfully entertaining storyteller with a great sense of humour. I don't know if he still does his tours but I would recommend finding out if you intend on staying there. He got the name Dr Crank because he used to run a bicycle shop if I recall correctly.
I'm Yorkshire, and the dales win for me too. But the Scottish Highlands come a VERY close second. My favourite long distance hike was the West Highland way, but I'll be doing the Dales way next year (Leeds to Windermere) so I'll have to see if it beats it. We're very lucky to have such wonderful countryside.
@johnmurray8454 I lived down near London for a few years, and had to move back as missed the countryside and Yorkshire folk, so I know what you mean. Wainwright's coast to coast is on my list for the next few years. Did you do west to east? I live very close to the Pennine way, but that's far too ambitious for me. 😂
We get a lot of Scots down here in Yorkshire. The most common stereotype of a Yorkshire person is as tight with money: there is a British saying that "a Yorkshireman is a Scotsman with all the generosity squeezed out of him", which references how Scots are also stereotyped as being tight but not as tight as Yorkshire folk.
@@amanda3743 I like being round my own people a lot also, if im on holiday and meet someone from Yorkshire its different to meeting other English or Brits. I was in Spain with some Dutch people and I got talking to a woman from Doncaster sat on the beach, immediately the Dutchies couldnt understand a word of what we was saying...
Peter Wright (see 49:50 onwards) not only knew "James Herriot" but he himself starred in a true life documentary style programme called "The Yorkshire Vet" which covered his work in the area as a vet.

If you are interested in Roman- British history you may want to visit " Vinlandia " near the Hadrians Wall, which is a huge Roman settlement and army barracks which is being excavated over many years and will take many more years to complete. There is many artefacts in its museum and you can watch the excavations going on.
Just out of interest. Theres a wharehouse in Liverpool that is the most Bricked Building ever. But it was a wharehouse, Not accomidation. Yet it is being slowly made into such a Building at presant. This video is well put together and very enjoyable. I like the Happy look and exitment on the Ladys face. Thanx, Very good.
I enjoyed the journey🙂 but just one thing, they served Earl Grey tea with milk which is completely wrong, only a slice of lemon, the waiter should have known.
If you start at Spurn Head we have 35 miles of an uninterrupted beach with some really nice places all the way up to Bridlington. Youve also missed out more really top places from Bridlington to Scarborough, like Flamborough Head and the seal colonies to Bempton Cliffs and the sea bird colonies and then you have got Filey which is a real gem of a place. Also depending on your timing you may see bottlenose dolphins, harbour dolphins, minke whales, basking sharks, sun fish and so on.
I wish I could have shown you a few things, especially The Strid on the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey, it is one of the most dangerous stretches of water in the world with 100% fatality rate, never has anybody survived falling in, gruesome but fascinating, plus, only a 5 minute walk from a wonderful abbey ruin, next time maybe? Or, Ilkley Moor with it's hundreds of fascinating petroglyphs (neolithic rock art).
oh dear, my comment is probably not going to be popular, but here goes... Interesting..and a great region to visit, but unfortunately I found I could only stand 30 minutes of this. As some other people have also commented, the smalzy overdramatic music all the way through gets rather irritating and is completely overdone. Also the cheshire cat perma-smile of the presenter all the time and speaking very little with people, and even that little which she does say is just very superficial, she might as well not have bothered. It could have been made much more lively and challenging and also toning down the smalzy music, and a little less 'chocolate box' in presentation. It reminded me a bit of travel videos that Readers Digest used to produce (I was sent one by a relation as a gift and boy was that tedious). So chocolate box in fact that I almost felt sick after just 30 minutes. Wunderschoen, wunderschoen - yes that sums it up.
