Bunny was a judge for a competition run by Yorkshire Tea and The Telegraph and this Newmarket garden was the winner.
The garden is highly original with clever tips and tricks than many gardeners can take ideas from. The spaces created, mainly by planting, are strong with cloud pruned hedges using different plants including Elaeagnus, yew and box. Topiary, using mainly abstract shapes gives it a more modern, individual feel. Pinus pinea (umbrella pine) and the bamboo, Phyllostachys aureosulcata aureocaulis are two star performers. Pops of colour sing out from orange Crocosmia, kniphofia (red hot pokers) and Cannas. The strong structure from the planting and limited plant palette shows a very different approach from high maintenance lawns and borders often ubiquitous in British gardens. The large change in levels, was used to create different spaces, great views and interest.#gardening #british
