FROY Most European and Indian languages come from the one language spoken thousands of years ago: Proto Indo-European. It’s descendants include the ancient of Sanskrit, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Old Norse just to name a few. Each of these branch into the new languages of today like Hindi, Spanish, Norwegian, Russian, and many many more. It’s one of the single largest language groups. However, it’s still barely a fraction of the worlds languages coming in at about 3000 recorded langs. Latin only has about 6 major descendants. Also, science has come to a widely accepted theory that humans originated in Africa based on genetic diversity, the fossil record, and similarities of humans to African apes. The theory goes that most humans were dark skinned, but when they moved to Europe the cloud cover made it so they did not need the extra melanin (what makes skin dark) to protect us from UV radiation. Eventually, European skin lightened. There are also many large language families that rival the number of descended languages both in number and in speakers. Niger-Congo in Africa, Sino-Tibetan in Asia, Afro-Asiatic in North Africa/the Middle East, etc.
@JulesThePsion
@JulesThePsion 3 года назад
@FROY Latin ONLY sired the modern Romance languages, which are a tiny fraction of the world's labguages. Even the majority of languages spoken in Europe don't trace their lineage back to Vulgar Latin. For example, English, Greek, German, Russian, Hungarian, Finish, Turkish, Albanian, Polish... Need I go on? Genetically, NONE of these languages have ANYTHING to do with Latin-- nevermind Yoruba, which I believe is a member of the Niger-Congo language family. Don't be so Eurocentric.

I'm here because if we don't seek knowledge of who we are, we will cease to exist as our true and indigenous selves....the last election revealed that with with upward of 12% of Black males voting for a semblance of a leader with not one but two consent agreements for housing discrimination against Negroes and declaring Blacks are INHERENTLY LAZY through no fault of their Own...the most racist thing one could say about the lineage of a people and curse their God

I cheated, since my parents were too busy to teach me Yoruba, I made it a point of duty and a promise to myself to date only Yoruba girls/women from the age of 17. I am now married to a beautiful Yoruba woman whose first tongue is Yoruba for 9 years. Our first rule was to always speak Yoruba at home. Very steep learning curve but within 2 years I now speak Yoruba, ok, not fluently, not eloquently because of the westernized tongue but I can't be mugged off with the language anymore. Our two kids now understand and speak Yoruba, yes with English accent, but it's ok, it's better than nothing. For the newbies, don't be discouraged by the mockery or piss taking by the fluent Yoruba speakers. Relatives are the worst, they laughed and mock my attempts. They'll tend to roll over laughing because of the accent, roll with it, it's all love. You'll eventually get there.

I speak french but I’ve been learning Yoruba through yoruba subtitled movies. So please don’t mind my writings. Omo Yoruba me ne guidi guon . Sista me mo like lessons ne yin baje. Mo bgadun! Mo sō Yoruba diè diè, O kar é o ! O da boh! ( sorry for all my mistakes, will improve, still learning ) 😅🤭 The first time I watched a Yoruba I felt in love instantly with Yoruba... ❤️💓Thank you for the lessons will learn more with you ! 😘😘😘😍😍😍👍🙏

PLEASE don't rely on those Yoruba movies for learning Yoruba. They're very watered down and OFTEN wrongly translated. Yoruba movies can be an aid to learning. But I highly recommend the older movies instead. Movies like Toluwanile, Oleku, Saworo Ide are all classics and have the most authentic Yoruba.

I am a Yoruba by bloodline. I received in the holy dream a lot of people dressing with colors garments and kneeling to me and their leader has a woman to translate what he said in English to me and she said to me you are Yeruba we are come to anointed you. After this dream a was shaking for all day alone. Since, i can't wait to learn the language and go to them community to invest and to support them alone. I from Haiti, i am a son of african slave and i am a yeruba by blood. Proud of it already and so happy to meet with them very soon.

(Kilo n sele) (E ka ro, ba wo ni) Easy to say hard to spell...

Crash course tips will be 1. To know the alphabets (quite similar to English). 2. Yoruba is tonal and musical so you can use musical notes do, re, mi to help you recall pronunciation and differentiate similar words with different meanings.
