This is a video of my ascent of the half dome cables in Yosemite National Park on July 14th, 2022. I hope you all enjoy and highly recommend this hike if you're up for it! :)
Thanks for this video! Gives a good sense of what it's like! Including the sweeping exposure which will be a problem for people afraid of heights. Also refreshing to see a video that shows people coming *down* the cables facing into the slope and backing up. This is the easiest and safest way to descend. Can also be done hand-over-hand on just one cable if many people are going up and you are trying to stay on one side so you and ascenders can pass each other more easily. There would be fewer slips and falls if people descended backward, facing in.
That was my guide for the hike. He even walked around the backside of where you typically hike up the cables and found an iPhone that was still usable. Dude is nuts!
Such a beautiful video . And your climbing with mom . And being respectful and courteous. It’s risky for everyone. You should be a park ranger dude . Excellent . I subbed and shared
Nice video ! I would've liked to see more footage of after you reached the top, like the view from up there etc but nice job & congrats, I could never make that climb !
Hi there Katina! I hiked this on July 14th, 2022. In my opinion, the best time to do the hike is in May/June if you are able as most of the waterfalls you come across will be at their peak in terms of water flow, as well as the heat not being at sweltering levels yet. Hope this helps!
May I ask what you had your GoPro on when filming? I'm going in June and will use my GoPro 11. Just curious what settings you used ? Thank you and awesome video!
Hi there! Seeing as Im replying to you after you've gone this might not be much help anymore, but I filmed it at 4k 60fps on the regular camera angle settings. I thought about manually adjusting everything but with the varying lighting I figured it would be best to just let the camera automatically deal with all that.
Thank you for getting back to me. It's totally cool. I did the same and just let the camera do it all lol. It worked perfectly and I was just over thinking it. Man what a trip it was!!
@@mjwelc Thats awesome to hear!! Glad it all went smoothly. Its something I would truly recommend to anybody if they are up for the challenge. I tried to apply for the lottery again this year, but no luck. Cheers to next year!
