Sir, why don't you ask him how do we prevent this from happening in the future. My understanding is that the underpass bridge is too low to where trucks can not ride underneath. It's worth noting that towns on both sides of the rail are being developed, of which trucks with building materials are transported back and forth across the rail to both sides. What's the solution to that? 2. If the rader system is inexpensive as you stated, why don't you intergrate it? Plus intensive education, being aware that our poeples can be foolish some times.
Trains don’t have radar system They failed to railway system fit for purpose They took road access away abs failed to provide underpass bridge fit for all vehicles… They do things anyhow without quality assurance
To ALL government institutions involved in this railway sector rehabilitation project: What were the criteria for the selection of a Polish company for the implementation of such a mega project? What is the reputation of Poland as a major modern railway network building nation? Anybody who opens wide his/her eyes would easily find companies and countries better qualified to build efficient and modern railway network in a relatively shorter period of time.
Can you afford those countries?Every country in Europe has a well developed rail system and may have similar expertise.Don't say things you know nothing about.
The rail minister MP Amewu is sad to imply that only an engineer would know about train and rail testing. In grew up understanding that humans got wiser as they grew in age; the NPP apparently get dumber as the years go by
Amewu, yes, you will not say it. But stop tackling the ex-president. The rail ministry funded up! The train is not your train but the accident was caused by your citizen and not the Polish. Right? So, the problem still remains that what work have you done with your country's people. You should have a radar system before you bring in these types of trains. 30 mins difference is a very long time for such type of train.
Why didn’t the polish team check the radar and all the stuffs before agreeing to do the test run? The minister is in-charge of affairs, what he says is what matters and not any other noises.
@JamesWDoe, please stop talking political and talk like a true Ghanaian who is concerned. So you are not bothered about someone who should have known that cars don't cross over the railway, right ? Must people be told all the time what they should do as citizens, in this morden world, my guy I beg it is a railway road not a playing grounds.
@falconx3404 Well, I am equally concerned about the KIA that packed on the railway crossing. I am the first person to tell you it beats my imagination. Haven't our leaders tolerated mediocrity, hence freely educating mediocre citizens with no discipline just as the leaders themselves are indisciplined and accept the people the way they are so that they can loot them dry. It is difficult to know where to start solving Ghana's hydraheded problems. Don't you think so? Millions of dollars found under a minister's bed 🛌 life goes on normally.
Please Mr Amewu, keep the path along the railwayline green. It will boost tourism. Don't allow people to put up buildings, and also prevent people from selling along the railway. Thank you.
Minister you are disgracing yourself on social media Ghana railway don’t have signalling system we as Ghanaian railway engineers in the U.K. proposed signalling system to hon Joe ghartey but he didn’t want Ghanaians near the project for fear of anas at that time… Without signalling you can’t run modern railway The price you pay now is the accident in my opinion you are all not serious
I'll suggest that the government should go ahead and let have a system in place for the trains to be able to detect obstacles on its path. This accident could occur again in a different form and passengers need to be protected.
Hon minister If the minimum braking for that train allows it to brake to a point of conflict of about 1km then it means the braking characteristics is low for that train. This is not good for passengers trains Hon Minister you don’t have accurate information on how railway works what you built don’t have any signalling system and safety integrity on the line. However, you mentioned the railway has signalling system which is not accurate.
Mr. Journalist if NDC secures a loan is NDC going to pay the loan. That will be the Ghanaian tax payer.. why this so much stress on NDC securing the loan.. even to the point of saying that securing a loan is 90% percent work done
This is why Nana Addo see's most of you Npp supporters as animals. Look at the amount of loans he Nana Addo has secured but has nothing to show for. Will Nana Addo pay those loans with his own money? If Nana Addo had used the loans he took to develop Ghana do you think Ghana will be in this mess we are today?
@@dennisbrown7930 u see your life just because my comment in a is NDC unfriendly you have concluded and stated categorically that am an NPP supporter... I don't belong to any of ur so called political parties. Just make your objective argument. and stop drawing unnecessary conclusion.
All they know is insult when asked simple question. If the rails were frequently used how come their hasn't been similar crashes?Mahama couldn't have asked about rail inspection as that is purely an engineering task but the usage. An expensive project is being test run and you don't see the need for putting all hands on deck. Now it has crushed.
Was the truck packed in a sharp curve or what? The train driver should be able to see at list 100 to 200 meters ahead and if there's anything on the rails the train can stopped what was the conditions of the breaks especially the EMERGENCY BRAKE are they in a very good service
Either someone lied and said they'd done a manual inspection when they hadn't, or this was sabotage. Either way, if they value human life, they need a radar system.
This interviewer was more interested in pushing John Mahama’s criticisms of this accident than trying to find out how a truck got on the railway line which is the central, critical and essential issue any sane and not insanely crazy and dangerously undisciplined people must be concerned with. Let us assume no inspection of the track was done. Was a KIA truck supposed to be parked on that railway line???????????? Why don’t we as a people try and understand the sources of our self- inflicted challenges since we gained our independence some 67 years ago? Instead of confronting these issues, a former president desperate for power is pushing politics with this “accident” and a supposed “journalist” instead of dealing with the real issues surrounding this ostensibly intentional accident is amplifying the cheap politics with very inane questions to the Minister for Railways. We deserve the bad leadership we have and will continue to get because we are not interested in discipline; the essence of societies that are far ahead of us, and will continue to do so!
Should this accident occur in Japan, the owner and driver would have to pay for all the damage caused by the crash. Our inability to be serious is the cause of our suffering.
A stupid rail minister. Why didn’t you build the port concurrently if that was an original plan. Why do you prioritise passenger service on that corridor over haulage. The more I listen to Amewu I get upset. What happened to Nsawam to Tema line and its economic consequences? Stupid minister again.
What is inaccurate about what Mahama has said? Have you done an inspection or made an announcement to the general public to alert Ghanaians? When the time comes, you would know where you belong. kwasiato
Mr Amewu needs to listen to himself, my question is where was the truck driver going because it clearly shows there was no road across the railway line.mr amewu must come again
He did a lot to the people of Hohoe. I don't understand why we the young people of this country don't think about the country rather about our political parties. Ghana is for we youth, let's stop following blindly political parties. Ghana first.
Honourable minister The track you built has no safety integrity in it and the train so the whole system is not fit for passenger use The infrastructure must consider all hazards and factor them into the design process and you’ve not done that You have to do things properly You took road access away and built under pass bridge not fit for all vehicles so the truck decided to use alternative hence it got stuck on the truck No quality assurance was undertaken as part of the design process so you can fix the train but accident will still happen you are not learning any lesson.
Amewu is such a shame. What is the economic activities of Mpakadan? How far is Mpakadan from Ho? Terminating railway at Akosombo doesn't disrespects Volta region after all nothing prevents the NPP from constructing from Akosombo to Ho or Koforidua. Stop fooling the people. The people are wiser than you think. Your impulsive acts are costing the country too much.
Well this guy says no one runs a passenger train service make profit, then goes on to say that the service was done to expand the economy, does he really understand what he's saying, I,m sometimes shocked to hear such things from a minister, is he actually qualified to be a minister? Or he's there because he won a seat? . I,m sorry but the journalist here didn't do a good job asking the right questions, this is someone who is just blabbing without any facts or documents on the table , all one sided as well cos the journalist couldn't even challenge his rhetoric.
Mr. Amewu, please, do not twist the project plan. It was the late president Atta-Mills who extended the project to Mpakadan. Akufo-Addo even don't know how to pronounced the name Mpakadan. By the way, where's the other train, being painted Ghana flag colors throughout? In fact, you these people should leave out the politics and focus positives!
WE HEAR YOU CLEARLY. And NPP vision took them to Jehova's abode, where they realized the Lord Almighty was poorly housed, so they decided to build for Him a magnificent palace.
Yoo need to stop playing politics and do the right thing for the people. Some of the discussions you were having there is all nonsense. Talk technical and solutions!!
I wish one day this man will become President of Ghana. NDC should sit back for some years and learn how to govern so that when come back they do not make a lot of mistakes they previously did. With COVID and global economic hardship this government is embarking on all these great projects While as without any global economic problems, NDC still sent Ghana to IMF and completely collapsed the economy. FACTS AND FIGURES NOT Perceptions and allegations, NPP has performed way better than Mahama NDC.
You don't read so the politicians are able to deceive you. There has not been any government both ndc and npp that hasn't experienced external shocks. While some shocks really drained the government others brought in a lot of cash? Covid actually brought in a lot of cash to the government. I'm really surprised that that European engineers did this poor test run. You call this a modern train without radar system? Come on Ghana, we can do better than this.
Mr. Amewu himself doesn't understand the whole process himself. It doesn't matter if they are from Europe or US. The risk assessment was poorly done. 30 minutes ahead of the DMU was too much. They completely ignored safety. Putting the railway truck 30 minutes ahead of the main truck is wrong. Was it complacency of the engineers because they had conducted more than 300 tests? Having worked with Qatar Rail, and as a Ghanaian I'm concerned about the safety of future projects.
If we should take what he's saying for a fact and they say it was a SABOTAGE, then i think those guys who may have planned this thing must be super Pro. at what they do ooo. He still didn't know what he's done as an engineer he said he is.
Some of you are just hypocrites. Why some of you go after people are doing good things for Ghana. Stop this kind of politicking. NDC should give us break.
