DIY wood projects to sell in 2023! These creations are easy to make, and the acrylic templates take the guess work out of batching out multiple pieces with cnc like accuracy and efficiency… the only trick is… you have to be willing to get dirty.

As it was/is so hot and all, I kept thinking the next one would be making an a/c unit! You make all that routing look so easy! Walnut is always so nice!

Yes! It was blazing hot. But youre right, I am about to make a video installing an AC mini split in my garage. Gosh I hope it cools the space off

Love the ruler. Especially the chamfer you put on the edges. Turned out great. This would look good with different material

Nothing new…. But walnut and oak are one of my favorite combos. I haven’t done the first two. But I have made a board. I really like the idea of doing the router table in the field. Even though I would just use it in my shop. LOL.

Can you explain more about your growth chart? The numbers don’t appear to be in 12” increments. Am I missing something here?

Love your work! I bought one of your templates and bought the bit you recommend and I just can't get it to work right. I keep getting major tear out. I've watched your videos over and over just can't get the hang of it. I even tried getting the wood damp.

You will get the hang of it. It’s incredibly easy once you get the technique down. Are you wetting the board edges? Are you only pushing from right to left? By chance did you see the video where i explained all the techniques? It will help greatly.

@@DesignsbyDonnie I'm rewatching all the videos that you use templates in hoping to catch some more pointers... Does router speed matter? The router on my router table is a single speed.

Router speed does matter! Maybe get a variable speed router and try to slow it down and this should help with the tear out!

With the Router table you built with a trim router. Is the trim router enough for you to flush cut with your acrylic template or would need something stronger like a 2hp in a router table?
@DesignsbyDonnie
@DesignsbyDonnie 10 месяцев назад
I flush trim all the time with my compact trim router, it’s plenty strong enough. When I’m in the shop I use my 2hp router for flush trimming. You can use both but will shorten the life of a trim router if all you do is flush trim on it though. So I balance it. 2hp router for in the shop and trim router for flushing in the field and on job sites

I purchased the template from your page.Do we need to add extra piece on the back of the puzzle .I see you glue it to each other but will that be secure?I
@DesignsbyDonnie
@DesignsbyDonnie 10 месяцев назад
Hi, no you don’t glue it. It you adhere it with double sided tape. It works extremely well

Really great ideas! However, I can’t help but wonder how well that end grain to end grain glue-up will hold over time on the cutting board.
@DesignsbyDonnie
@DesignsbyDonnie 11 месяцев назад
Thank you so much! And I test all the techniques that I use to exhaustion. Lol almost to a fault. But the end grain glue up holds VERY well. I have cutting boards and other projects that have held up over 7 years and going strong. The only time end grain glue up hasn’t held up well for me, is on dining table tops that are 2” thick. 1” holds great with no exceptions but 2” and it begins to fail over time. But everything else is just fine.

That’s great to know, thanks for the details! I would have become a subscriber if not one already!

End grain glue up is very strong especially if you add glue to each edge, let it soak into the grain and then add more glue and clamp

I liked your growth chart but I'm wondering how the customer marks their childs height on the boards.
@DesignsbyDonnie
@DesignsbyDonnie 10 месяцев назад
Thank you it was a fun project. I used a sharpie to record the height but one could also burn it in or paint it

Commentary is a little non-family friendly so I couldn't show my wife or child. Will appreciate this channel more when I don't have to pre-screen it. :) Beautiful woodwork!
