I swear that's not a good thing for those who are currently learning english. I'm trying to learn english by watching this dub and now only his curse words come to my mind.. in english class I almost said "I suck at math" to my teacher and then I remembered that Chuuya's sland mustn't be used towards a teacher cuz that's disrespectful... it's all this shitty brat's fault..

as far as i know that was a fan translation! probably to convey the bluntness of his tone because what he says (literally) is “what is?” or “what?”(何が?) but yeah, dazai doesn’t really cuss in this specific scene, but what he *is* is (in my opinion) really direct and blunt, which is why it’s funny. just a little opinion from my limited knowledge of japanese! the yen press translation is more faithful to the source here, i think, but the what the fuck is really funny too looool
@chuuya's gloves he did say the same thing in the sub so unless in the anime they had him say that and not in the manga it isn't a fan translation 👍🏻👍🏻
@@PurpleIris812 what do you mean? /gen from what i understand, the original commenter was referring to how in one of the (unofficial!) translations dazai says “what the fuck” in the scene with fyodor, which is *different* to the official yen press translation and the anime subtitles (yen press goes with “what what” and the crunchyroll official subs go with “yes, what?”). i was just offering an explanation as to why he didn’t say “what the fuck” here, so i’m kind of confused as to what you mean by this! sorry if things weren’t clear, i hope this made sense 🙇
Omg I remember when I met Chuuya’s English VA (Nicholas Roye) he was happy to do this scene because of Chuuya’s return but when he looked at the script he said he was shocked that he could actually say this in the series lol
