“You've Got a Friend in Me" is a song by Randy Newman for the 1995 Disney/Pixar animated film theme song, Toy Story. Toy Story was a huge success (a project between Disney and Pixar) that surprises everyone. At that time of production, a full computer generated animation film was one of its kind and Pixar pulled it off successfully. Toy Story remains as Pixar’s best film.
Before the film's release, executive producer and Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs stated "If Toy Story is a modest hit-say $75 million at the box office, we'll [Pixar and Disney] both break even. If it gets $100 million, we'll both make money. But if it's a real blockbuster and earns $200 million or so at the box office, we'll make good money, and Disney will make a lot of money." Toy Story 2 was released 4 years later and grossed $246 million in the US and nearly half a billion worldwide.
Toy Story 3 released 11 years later and grossed $415 million in the US and $1 billion worldwide.
Toy Story 4 released in 2019, grossed $434 million in the US and $1,073 billion worldwide.
I love to watch animations. I have watched all Toy Story (from 1-4) films, and I was very excited to know Buzz Lightyear will has his own story in 2022. “Lightyear” is one of the characters in Toy Story that captured my attention. He is funny, brave and will do anything for friends. Unfortunately, my country has banned the film for all the cinemas showings😭😭….. I am hoping that Disney+ will allow its streaming here …. otherwise I will have to buy the 4K movie disc to watch it. What a bummer when I read the news on this. Therefore, I have decided to console myself by covering Toy Story original theme song “You’ve Got A Friend in Me”. If you do not know Toy Story, you should watch it (with your kids). All its films has a touching storyline about toys and friendships.
This song articulation is a little complicated. It took me few rounds with teacher Chen Chiang to get few parts of the articulation corrected. I did not nailed it 100% to my teacher’s satisfaction but I am satisfied with this result hence I uploaded it to share my performance with you. I hope you will enjoy the song and are entertained by the video 😄.
