Hi Sandra, you look absolutely beautiful. I love your hair and your skin is just glowing. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder as far as the outside appearance goes, but if you are beautiful on the inside, people notice. As we age, the outside beauty can fade and dull, Inside glows brighter than ever and gets more beautiful with each passing year as we grow in our character, compassion, kindness, etc.. I know who I am, and I am very secure in who I am. Some people may not want to ask the question “ Who am I?”. They may not want to face their behaviors, but fortunately, those behaviors can change the moment they choose to do so. Thank you for this great topic and conversation! Love, Sheila.

Thank you for an impactful and meaningful conversation today, Madame! And Brava to your sister-in-law for having the courage to ask that question of the woman in her book club. We can hold the mirror up to one another to illustrate how each of us are behaving; I'm glad there was a positive outcome in the other woman's awareness because of what your sister-in-law asked. If she had not, maybe the other woman would have isolated more people in her life and not ever known the real reason. We can honor each other by communicating if we are being degraded, bullied or disrespected and we have a right to stand up for ourselves and others. A great lesson today and I so appreciate your sharing it with our amazing community! 🌸🌹🌻

You are beautiful ❤I think the same way, my kids don't really know who I am, they are so focused on their lives. I was the same with my mom until I got laid off from work due to the pandemic and spent 3 years closer to my mom (because I had the time and she needed me). We talked a lot and I really got to know her and it was amazing listening to her stories, she passed away over a year ago and I'm so glad I had this time with her.

Wow. This is moving. Your sister-in-law did a good thing. She stood up for herself and others without name calling or such. She asked a question (even if it was with a bit of attitude). Brava to the formerly rude woman for using that moment to grow. I think she should be highly commended for admitting her mistakes and being thankful for the wake-up call. Just think how better her life could have been up to now. "Better late than never".

For the first part of my life, I was the sister of two brothers in wheelchairs. I became the wife of an abuser. I proudly became a mother, a role I love. I am a writer now. Being on my own after two divorces and a long term relationship break- up, I find it hard to just be me. It is lonely for me. I miss being part of a family. My daughter moved far away. My grandchild is barely in touch. I am visiting my best friend soon. I will at least have two days of happiness. I wish I could meet a nice man who will love who I really am. In the meantime, I have to learn to enjoy my own company.

Hello Sandra, Actually you are speaking about the same type of person that I am. My parents were physically and mentally abusive which has really affected my life. I may not know who I really am at 72 years old, but I definitely know who I am not, either of my parents! It’s taken me years to come out of depression and self hatred, and I have come to know that I am loved by God and that’s all that matters now.

NOT knowing yourself and who YOU are is dangerous stuff! You end up living a life that's not yours. In relationships, if you don't know who you are/what you want, how unfair is it to expect someone else to know? This is a very important, even necessary question to ask ourselves. Thank you, Sandra, for bringing this forward! 🧡🎊🌼

A very good question to ask oneself, and regularly. One way my writing group and I expressed this is by writing our own obituaries. When done, we each realized it was what we wished we were. The next question: am I living this way - do my actions reflect my description - what is really important to me? Reflection is an important tool to remain authentic, true to ourselves, and grounded in our values. 😊💕

Let them read it now and understand you and let them know your inner thoughts about them so that you can share it and they can ask you questions.🦋🦋🦋. my mother left me a beautiful letter after she had passed and I wished we could’ve discussed it when she was here in this world.🩷🦋🩷

I'd be looking for ways to communicate with her on the other side, so would hope for guidance in the final letter. I've read out my comment to my mum and approves of this as I want to check I haven't said anything that could be offensive. ❤

Good morning Sandra. As a child my brother and I, especially my dear Mother, went through serious difficulties after a divorce and two children. Times had changed and fortunately everything has recovered with much work. I never heard my Mother say that I was beautiful or that I had a special gift and I grew up without ever looking in the mirror thinking that I was a normal person with no special attractions. Today at 75 year old and seeing some photos of children and young women I think that I was very beautiful. The fact that I thought I wasn’t pretty or that I was an ordinary person never meant that I didn’t smile at everyone and wasn’t kind, on the contrary I was and I am always careful not to hurt anyone with words or actions, and to help as much as possible people in need. Aggressive and always bad-tempered people scares me. That’s why I think it’s a question of character and education and not exactly a problem of lack or knowing whether we are beautiful or ugly. There are very ugly people who have fantastic inner beauty in such a way that they seem beautiful to us. Thank you Sandra for another great video. Love you.

Hi from Annie I really liked the message in the story today and so glad your sister in law spoke up to that lady. It is amazing what a few words can do. Yes it is a puzzle sometimes as to who we really are even some of us do not know the answer to that at times. There are times that I feel I know myself and other times I feel like a lost stranger, it is funny when you think of it. I would say if we don't know who we are how can anyone else? I do feel that over the years it does change the "who are we" time changes us all to some degree. Hopefully for the better. God bless.

He Sandra I love this thought provoking topic. It’s so true isn’t it. How can anyone else know who we are if we don’t know who we are. What do we project if we don’t know. No wonder there are insecurities anger and low confidence. My parents didn’t tell me either. I think they thought it would make me conceited or some such thing. I think many of us try hard or fixate not to be a certain way instead of exploring and learning our unique beautiful selves . It's really beautiful and welcoming, I needed that. My name is kammilly, I like to be called kammis, because I think it's cute and I feel loved, which may seem weird since this nickname was given by someone who is no longer present in my life. I really like bathing and spending hours in the shower, I like the rain, the sunset, cold and silent nights or when I share them with people I love, I like flowers, animals, reading about life and especially philosophy, I like seeing new places and other people, I feel like I'm a very melancholic, poetic, empathetic and kind person. I always feel very alone, sometimes it suffocates me, and sometimes it comforts me, I've already adapted to that. I have several other good things to say, but I'll stop here, with even more things to discover

Secondly I am a Mother of two grown children and a grandmother of three grandchildren. Thirdly I am wife and a Sister and a friend as well. The only One who knows who I am is God ☺️😇. I am 63 years old and I am content , and beautiful of my creator ❤

I felt this. I was never considered to be pretty let alone beautiful. Never got compliments. Never had a relationship. Then i had surgeries that changed my face and i am still getting used to the new one ten years later. It's hard.

Hi Sandra I have experienced a sad break up with a lifetime friend who has progressively become that angry woman in the book group. I know my friend had a childhood exactly like the angry woman in the book club. Outwardly she appeared to overcome her childhood traumas- but it always was there- and now that we are in our 70s she has become so angry and sarcastic she deliberately picked a fight to push me out of her life. Those first reflections to us about who we are do inform our sense of self in those formative years. I count myself very lucky that my mom often asked me “how does it feel to be so young and beautiful?” I poo pooed this at the time- now I am grateful for those words. And she always insisted I try on new school clothes for my dad- the one I’ve mentioned here because he too was from the Bronx. He would always smile and say just one word: “ Sharp!” I’m going to do the assignment you gave us tonight ❤

This brought back a particular book discussion where this new comer walked in and more or less took over. We were going around about which first lady we liked and why. I was the first to be asked and mentioned 2 of the ladies that happened to be Democrat. Wow, and WOW!! Did we all get a lecture from this aggressive, loud mouth woman.😂. Unfortunately, it's not unusual to have someone who wants to take over every situation, but never met someone quite like the discussion on the book America First Lady. Thank you Sandra.

Thank you Sandra for that wonderful video. I hope this is not judging, but I know a few women who cannot wait for the next lunch, the next sale, the next holiday, the next dinner, the next party, and on it goes! Good luck to them and all that, but where is their contentment? Those people can never answer the question "Who Am I". They will never know, shallow people, to be pitied I suppose. Thank you Sandra!

I wrote a letter to each of my two children a few years ago (and gave them their letters) as it was not about me but how they've impacted my life as their mother, how proud I am of them in what they've accomplished, who've they've become as adults and encouraged them to follow their own path to happiness and fulfillment. I let them know I think of them each and every day even if we don't text, talk or write. It was a powerful lesson for me as like so many others, I never heard any of those words from my own parents and have felt my own lack of self confidence for decades! That poor lady who's bitterness and self doubt showed through with anger and aggression - I'm sure she's so grateful to your SIL and will turn her life around for a more fulfilling and happy life. Thank you Sandra for these lessons.

@@patsy6589 - my suggestion would be to write what you plan to say in a letter so she has it for her lifetime to reread when needed - a conversation is lovely but then it's over and some of the message may be forgotten.
