I think all of the Stellaron Hunters' trailer have their own unique theme into it and it fits their roles. As for Firefly, I think they're trying to balance the vibes between Firefly and Sam. Especially at the end where she turns on her ultimate mode. It's like they're telling us that she's trying to live her own way without succumb into being a murderous weapon

I'm not gonna hate your opinion my man but there is something very endearing about a young war veteran/criminal trying to move beyond her past to a normal life. Home girl has a chance at happiness. No matter how cheesy it might seem I think it's a nice switch-up in this world full of murder, mystery, and friendship. Let this girl be happy! Always happy and surprised at your reaction videos. in the most of your videos I agree with your point, but not now. I respect your point of view and your perspective. I think entrance was good, basically she say reason she was created and understand enemy who she gonna fight. Her dialogue with Sam is more like dialogue with her past. She was created as fighting unit, who gonna fight for Empress. And she was rised and live for a while with this views. But after moment, when Glomoth was destroyed - she just need move forward. And it's actually really hard to leave her past views, bcs it going so deep and she never gonna forget that. And when she transform to her ultimate form we hear how music change and it actually fit this moment. Bcs whole vibe represent that she accept herself and her current views. But still I respect your point, everyone have own taste ^^
It's a mid trailer comparing to other SH, but slightly better than the old characters😅. It adds nothing new to what we already knew or seen, and what's funny is that the first scene FF appeared in the story has more hype than this whole trailer.
The problem is that from the get go Smack has been against the character for not living up to what he was expecting. He calls the music in this trailer a miss without realizing that they are using music to signal the changes in the character's identity through their life. He is indeed true, this isn't for him so he dismiss it, at least he is honest enough to acknowledge it (partially).
Yeah, he's just super biased against Firefly and Sam not living up to what he wanted them to be. I mean, listen to him STILL trying to cope that Sam is separate from Firefly during the scene when the armor had her by the throat?
Shit was mid, bro. I had nothing against Firefly at all. Animated short made me like her, but this wasn't it. Had the opposite effect. Guess it's a younger person thing.
It's also hilariously ironic that he says that he's not the target audience for this and that it's for teenagers despite the fact that the dude makes it pretty obvious throughout his videos that he's a massive fan of shonen anime....which also targets teenagers.

@@veliona8920 I get a feeling that Smack is just viciously against anything that could be considered "cute" to a ridiculous degree. I believe that anytime we've EVER seen a cute character, they're a character he tends to dislike or even hate. Everything has to be cool or badass to him, which is fine, but that doesn't make him or people like him more adult or mature. It's just a matter of taste.
I loved it. Killing machine filled with uncertainty to Individual taking control of her destiny, often followed with a hopeful shift in music and ending with that moment in the end. Not everyone's gonna appreciate it, and it's all good.
I personally liked the music a lot because for me I find that it really fits into the scenes perfectly, I don't know how they could make the trailer any better
I think they know they cooked so hard with the animated short they experimented a bit with this, and honestly I respect it. It felt like a cutscene rather than a trailer
I have to agree that Sam and Firefly dont really feel like the same person at all. The cute persona drastically downplays the ruthless nature that Sam supposedly has. In other words, she does not seem like a battle-hardened warrior finding her true purpose in life, but a young teenager girl trying to find love... while *roleplaying* an edgy mecha warrior ehhh... like yeah, very "teen focused" anime style. Still liked the trailer, its objectively speaking a Top 10 Star Rail trailer for sure, but the themes it goes for dont really hit home if you dont buy the Sam-Firefly duality, and thats absolutely fair.
Just saying, i think this one of the better "firefly is cute and all but for me it's not that deep" take I see, I respect both sides of the takes, but this is how I think an adult should react to something that he finds "too corny", not actively downplaying it and telling those who invest emotionally in it to "grow up", good job Mr smack.
It's a trailer made by anime otakus(EVA, specifically) for anime otakus, so it's understandable. This one really winnows out the tourists from anime gacha communities.
“Tourists” is a funny way to put it, I and certainly many who like the games aren’t tourists, its just that theres really nothing to like here besides Firefly. If you like the last scene, thats all that needs to be said for you, you probably like the rest; but its definitely corny. I wanted SAM and Firefly to be more focused on just being cool/path of destruction type character, but they didn’t really go that route and just slammed two different characters into one

I respect the opinion about the trailer but i feel like it's not fair to just label it corney exclusively and write it off for that reason when most if not all hoyoverse trailers got something corny here or there. It's an anime-esq game after all. We always knew that, and we just tend to overlook it because that's just what anime is (corny but cool) for the most part (i know anime/manga is more that, i read berserk regretfully lol). And, while i much prefer the hardcore electric synth-rock shenanigans sam normally has, sam is also firefly , and the trailer articulates the character and her internal struggle perfectly with that music transition because she literally is not the same person once sam is cookin. It's why she's not scorching earth with that skirt on 😂. I do think they could've gone a bit less Disney and more prime MHA like "you say run" and it'd be more badass while still delivering on the character change point but i get that character herself matches the Disney vibes slightly better so it is what it is. Still, W reaction as far as keeping it 100.

Or at least the logic that it's a girl inside the mech being a problem, especially when the concept was executed well (at least so far since they haven't stuck the landing with penacony or sam yet). I admit they really went out of their way to sell sam as the ultimate badass who smoke as many packs as he does enemies BUT...that's literally the point of firefly...Sam is a constant reminder of her past that she no longer wants to be anymore yet she still needs him to stay alive and to reach her goals. I think that's enough reason to at least like the character but to each their own. The firefly propaganda was a bit much ngl, so that might be a factor, too.

Kinda like with misha and gallagher who are now beloved by the community after being considered "meh" for ao long due to how they impact and get invloved in the story. I'm sure he'll still pull her cause Sam is still the core of her gameplay, and let's be honest, even if there are other SAMs out there, we are not getting one anytime soon.
trailer was aight. I like firefly, but its hard to associate her with her mech form. Overall, the trailer probably would be more hype if we knew what role she would have in the new story update-- her talking about fighting for herself is cool, but without context, especially if u didnt watch the animated short, it kinda felt like empty words
I agree, teens are her target audience, She's a child soilder now trying to make a life for herself beyond being a weapon. I like this about SHs. They are simple. Experience fear, Want death, have fun & now experience a normal life.
I'm not a teen but she is still one of my favorite characters in this game. Calling Firefly fans immature/teenager or teens is not very mature from himself.

legit i loved it precisely because it's so corny, i'm a sucker for these types of "everything is bad but there's always hope" with magic girl transformations and shit, keeps my inner child happy, kinda like a guilty pleasure if you will. but i respect the fact that you are keeping it real heavily, mf didn't even stall till 8 minute mark. also these 36 people who disliked need to grow up lmao

@@alfxi. I guess in this case it was really just not what he wanted. The moment he said opening sequence was mid I could tell he just wanted Sam which I think he has voiced out already before. He clearly does not really like Firefly. Even on the 2nd part he said the music was off but it really wasn't which again shows that he prefers the sam like music the whole time. Although I hard disagree with this as many anime had a more slow and hopeful song like this on transformation or fighting scenes because it thematically conveys firefly accepting who she is. Comparing it to the JJK one was definitely wrong I think.
Confirmed: we are now in a new phase, started by Teccy, to nitpick about everything HRS related, even the first few second of the trailer weren't good enough 😂 Now, I will be honest, this trailer wasn't as good as previous ones, still quite decent with some good action pieces.
you gotta understand that firefly was hyped all the way back in 2.0, the devs was doing everything they can to promote the character so for them to release this trailer that's just alright if not mid, people obviously gonna be disappointed
It's alright I guess, it's best to just look at this as merely concluding the story that all 3 trailers were trying to tell. I still think Sparkle's Demo is the best
And that's what personal taste is ... i personally don't like Sparkle's trailer that much. It's good but not top tier for me. Firefly's 3 trailers tell her story and showing us her change in mindset from who she was to who she is now. For me, Sparkle trailer shows only that she is crazy and that's it. But him calling people out, who really like Firefly's trailers, as immature or teenagers and corny/cheese, while still complaining that the person in the suit is not a cool guy but a little girl. That is not very 'mature' from him in my opinion.
Hey that's totally fine Smack, I also didn't care that much about this trailer, the visuals were nice obviously, but to the very least I will say that it does make sense, this is who she wants to be nowadays, it came out way too corny but we do understand the message.
He's right it's corny buuut she's a kamen Rider/super sentai/power ranger ie that's the point as those genres of shows are corny but their fanbases loves it ie I love it

I really wanted a trailer focusing on SAM, the terrifying Stelleron Hunter. We understand FF is who she really wants to be, but I want to see more of what she had to be or who other people see.
Ngl....i really dont like the "magical girl" transformation from 3:58.... Ik shes supposed to be feminine outside the suit and all But...at that situation and scene....cmon...if they played a hard serious tune while she hung there...and transformed right there with determination to power through etc.... Yea...not a fan of that part of the trailer...not much epic cool moments after that either...
Firefly and Sam are the same individual, her being chocked by Sam I'm pretty sure is so supposed to be a mental representation Firefly's own feelings of being constrained by her nature as a weapon or something similar, and not that her and Sam are separate personalities or anything like that. Fire is Sam and Sam is Firefly.
Compared to her previous trailer it was mid as fuck. probably the weakest Stellaron Hunter trailer. Thats what happens when you put little cute girl into a fucking Chad mecha.

Yeah, as much a Firefly/Sam stan I am, this ain't the best trailer. I wouldn't debate if people called it mid and yeah outside of the SAM techno parts, music doesn't fit. But JJK's You Are My Special moment is a hill I'd gladly die on. It's freaking perfect. Lol

it was alright at best and mid at worst. with how much the character is getting pushed into the limelight people are expecting at least sparkle trailer quality. shit I don't even like boothill and his was so much better than this.

Having trouble with it?, she’s bursting through everything it sends at her in the firefly mode and knocking it around like nothing, in the normals Sam for that the bugs shred through yes she’s unable to destroy a machine that can likely kill thousands of the bugs easily

With trailers like sparkle and acheron,this one felt abit underwhelming,specially for the most hyped character so far I can see what they were trying to do but for me personnaly it jst doesnt click
SAM and Firefly are not separate people bro, you’re coping hard if you still think that. It’s clear at this point that SAM is just the suit and Firefly is the pilot. SAM having Firefly by the neck in this trailer most likely is just a metaphor for her wrestling against her past as a soldier.

It's because first part is about SAM and second is Firefly. SAM as a character is well designed and accompanied with lore and good music, while Firefly is just unnecessary accessory.
I like how honest this reaction was. And honestly I get it. But I still understand the direction they were trying to go with this. Just like she herself said on the story, she wants to be remember as Firefly not as Stellaron Hunter SAM, so the music switch basically "tells that story" While SAM's part uses EDM, Firefly's uses string instruments and all... That being said, it was not my favorite for sure (Boothill one just solos this one for me) but it conveys what the character is. And hey, don't hate on Smack for having an opinion and preferences.
This trailer might not be a banger for someone who wanted a mech, not a girl that can done mech, so its natural not to like the trailer very much. Very much understandable
Ngl i understand exactly why they made the trailer the way they did firefly all about freedom wanting to live and such so them going down this route i understand corny yes but its ok for Firefly.
I do get your preference but this is not the same with the Jujutsu kaisen one. The song perfectly fits what's happening as it shows Firefly accepting who she is. Mecha shows also get these music on powerup at times but I understand that you prefer more upbeat music on fights. The opening cinematic being mid though is an L take for sure. I don't see the corny part though since I think a lot of the trailers are pretty corny...
I think what makes it "corny" is the English VA's tone. I watch the JP one first and it does feels more "mature" with regards to the voices, especially cause the SAM voice can be heard more clear during the intro and at the end when she stabs the robot, which should be the case as in the intro she's transforming and at the end she is accepting that SAM is also a part of herself so both sides need to work together for the future (the theme of the video). English just did a bad job portraying that in my opinion.

This trailer cooked hard for some of its brutality (dead af IPC goons) but also because Hoyo is staying true to the story they envisioned for their character. If you can't see that this trailer is perfect for Firefly, gacha gods help you, but also gotta respect that everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it's loaded with bias (as most opinions are)
Nah you are just refusing too see it for what it is. Its a dead giveaway when you say that Sam is his own entity. Cope btw. Sam is not anything but a suit. Sam is not alive. Sam is a voicechanger. Disliking something because its not what you want from it instead of looking at it objectively is always going to be a pet peeve for me when someone does it. The trailer is good so calling it mid is just being salty tbh. Love your other content but this one is a miss.
Yeah, the trailer was mid. It showed absolutely nothing new, or anything we didn't know before. Compare it to Sparkle trailer, where we got totally different vibe. This one was repeating of "oh it's a pretty girl with sad past, feel for her , I SAID FEEL FOR HER!!!!!" Would be much better to show her more upbeat and cruel side - I mean she is not sad all the time and she did a lot of crimes/killings/etc. by her OWN will, so she is not some puppet soldier anymore.
I think the trailer was fine, I just feel bad because no matter how much they push her I cannot bring myself to care about Firefly as a character. Good luck to all the fans pulling though.
Feel like the ones calling it corny never watched older Gundam series. The dramatic emotional music was common in many mobile suit stuff I feel. Maybe my memory shot though as I'm closing in on getting older near 40 though and I'm being nostalgic. I have watched so many animes that it could be an amalgamation of memories. Respect your opinions that you wanted it to go harder throughout the trailer because I'm a fan of hard grinding music myself.

The music is representative of her trying to defy fate. First half is representing firefly in SAM the emotionless killing machine, and the other is firefly, and who she wants to become
If they make like a 6mins trailer I probably wouldnt mind the music change but with just 3mins this trailer felt like watching a rush movie where suddenly firefly have overcome everything and won, the end.
Personally I'm all for the genetically engineered super waifu transforming into a mech sailor moon style. The lore of Glamoth's Iron Calvary to Stellaron Hunter to Trailblazer is highlighted here, as she struggles with her identity. And I also think that SAMs voice represents Glamoth's voice rather then a male voice. It is the voice of a weapon that fights for a dead empire and it's queen.
I'm not going to lie, smack... I was expecting more from this trailer 🤣 compared to the other trailers, even for Stellaron Hunters, this one is pretty weak
I agree, music in character trailers has been a huge let down lately, except for Robin. Look at all the most watched trailers. Sparkle, Kafka, Blade, Silver Wolf. Once common thing is that from start to an end it's just hype af. But Acheron, Firefly, Arlecchino, all lose momentum, try to do some pretentious crap and if fails miserably and views reflect that.
As someone who likes Firefly, imo, this trailer feels the weakest out of her three trailers, but i can't pinpoint why. It feels like Hoyo is pulling a Kiana cheese strat with the music and constant flashbacks, but Kiana had like 3-4 years of growth, where as Firefly had 3 patches. It didn't hype, it just told me the same story we already knew.
My only issue with Firefly, is that they try so hard to make her dramatic, sad and depressing. Every time she's on stage feels as if shes being desperate to show the audience " us " that she is suffering. And i don't like that, there are multiple ways to make us realize a character's pain, and making it so painfully obvious kills the mood for me. I like Firefly overall, i just can't stand when she starts talking about dramatic and painful stuff all of a sudden, it goes to the point of " i can't take her that seriously anymore "
Tbh I respect that you were true with us, told us how you felt about it and didn't downplay whoever might've liked it when you didn't. Tbf I love FF as a character so you could say I'm biased, but I think the trailer perfectly showed who she was. I could give an L take for many to illustrate my point, but... even though I liked it, I wasn't that big of a fan of Acheron's trailer. My problem with it was that it seemed too generic for a DPS trailer, it didn't show too much (or not as much as I'd liked, rather) of who she is as a character. I'm bringing this up because of the comparison: that alone made me like FF's way more. I can't deny that it is corny tho lmao Sparkle's is still the best one tho (which also showcases the character really well) x)
Yeah i think imma skip firefly. Its so anti hype at this point that i'd feel 0 excitement playing that character. Basically the opposite of how i felt about acheron. Ironically though acheron became boring as fuck to play, and firefly looks like one of the more fun to play characters. Starting to understand the significance of marketing
