I’m writing this 18 minutes before 2023. This was the last song our animal companion, Aria heard 2nd to the last night before she died. She had always been there for me when I felt like my emotions were beyond human understanding. She has always been afraid of fireworks and firecrackers so every new year’s eve, we would hide in the room under the stairs and I would hug her tight while playing loud music so she wouldn’t hear the fireworks outside. I was very busy for my board exams review the month she passed and I didn’t see it coming. I always blamed myself for it. It scares me that I’m leaving 2022 without her in my arms like how it has always been. It should be better, right? At least she will not be scared anymore.
