darkcap232 Yeah exactly. I wouldn’t want that stuff since it would deminish this game’s competitiveness and it really is a Battlefront 2-ish thing. I’m LOVING the way this game is turning out so hereby “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”. EDIT: The cg short came out < Hype level +10 ^ >
VR players are absolutely going to have an advantage. I've played flight sims for a long time and the ability to move your head freely is utterly game changing in any flight game. As a rule of thumb in aircraft/spacecraft combat: the pilot who sees the enemy first generally wins the engagement.
I’m not trying to be rude here, but as a VR player, and also having played DCS for a long time, I would disagree, and say that a proper use of your radar and BFM is what decides whether you get killed or not
I have played DCS world for over 600 hours, and trust me.... Cold starting your plane is interesting exactly one time, and after that it's a chore. I'm totally happy with having a hot engine ready to ROCK!
Yeah, I'm really not a fan of mollycoddling every cranky whiner. Space is, shockingly, mostly empty space. Not hitting something at full speed shouldn't be a problem. Also what is truly awful is consider just how many ships were destroyed in star wars by way of their opponent leading them on a difficult to fly canyon run, or building weave that results in them cratering into an overpass. But in this game, apparently, they just bounce off and continue to follow? That's really bad.
I think a head on collision at max speed will probably kill you. These are ships that can fly in an out of atmospheres at high speed with no preparation and handle crazy G’s. It would expect it to hold up at least a little bit for slower and glancing collisions
yeah that is the one thing that is bothering me, come on how did they not think about that, especially when the fighter grinds the side of the ship it just bounces like a basket ball, wings should be ripping off and you should be losing all control until your demise
@@Lozwave I think they thought of that, but did not want it to be that you lose a game because everyone just crashes. It steers away from BF2 starfighter assault, where when a mm of your ship glances an asteroid you explode. You still take damage going slowly in the starfighter, and you take more the faster you go. The ships are heavy duty not like pieces of flying paper. Plus it prevents people from throwing by just crashing their ship if their losing.
Me too. "Flies like a sleepy hutt", but I don't know why it is great, powerful and a blast. Shame no turret gunners around. BTW you have another crazy joining you. GOLD 2 Standing by.
Anakin still had a father until episode 9, since in a comic it shows Palpatine controlling midichlorians to make Anakin’s mom pregnant of Anakin therefore making Palpatine technically Anakin’s dad
I have an idea on how s-foils could work, by default, you would be in attack mode, (S-foils separated). But, when you would forward more power to the engines, they would switch into cruise mode, (S-foils connected). This would work for the U-wing and X-wing. This is honestly my idea on how deploying s-foils would work in a way that doesn’t add a new feature or change the way the game is played for each fighter. The s-foils changing would not have any performance upgrades aside from the ones given by switching the power to make sure the fighters stay balanced.
If you want more "Immersion" that is not available in the game, then get it on PC and get "VoiceAttack" where you can give voice commands that execute controls in game. It makes it a ton of fun, and 10x better including VR and Flight sticks.
With regard to joystick, the T16000 from Thrustmaster is easily the best value for money, especially as a first stick. It’s competitive with any premium stick.
I am so excited to finally be able to fly a *good* TIE Interceptor. I'm going to be flying pretty much exclusively that. It's always been my favorite ship.
I've always thought that there should be ships called relics like the v wing for the empire or the arc 170 for the new republic which are hard to obtain or cost a lot of credits
I got my Nik'ta blown up across five parsecs by droid starfighters, trying to evade them over the orbit of Corusuant. I spun, and then I got BLOWN UP!! So don't tell me that it's a lie. And never, *EVER* accuse me of being a liar, you Shol'Va!
I've been wanting a game like this ever since testing out the U.S. Air and Space Museum's VR Flight Simulator as a young lad back in the late 90's - early 2000's. This is a dream come true.
In addition to the movie characters, I think we spotted Rae Sloane from the books/comics in the trailer as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing if any other New EU characters show up, especially the pilots like Thane Kyrell or Nash Windrider. Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to spending all my time messing around in fleet battles, so I hope the game keeps a healthy amount of maps and scenarios in future additions.
I got into the alpha and agree with most of what you say in this Q&A. I let the other members of my family play and everyone loved it (ages range 9- 62). I gave a lot of positive feedback and at least 6 people are buying the game because they were able to have a play. I hope they allow an open beta so more people get the chance to play. If you liked Xwing vs Fie Fighter or Xwing alliance then this game is for you. It is not as on rails as battlefront 2. I have 4hrs left to play the alpha and got some Reables to kill
I just want to get physically into the ship Just have an animation in first person of hopping in the hatch and flipping some switches and then flying out of the hanger, that would be cool
I bet single player might show them climbing aboard and stuff it makes more since in a competitive multiplayer game to have them already flying and ready to go
I'm most excited for the trade-off of the different types of ships!!! This will FORCE players to play each ship with slightly different tactics. 👍 Way to go EA!
I’ll definitely be playing this in VR as much as possible. From my experience, VR gives you more peripheral vision. In the X-Wing VR mission, being able to loo directly to your left or right to find your target helped immensely. Was also easier to focus a fighter down with your vision and zero your ship in on where you were looking. If this plays like that, I’m gonna be so happy
When I first saw Bombastic , it was funnies of EA BF 1, "Stay bombastic" :KABOOM Emote:. He is serious about this game and I am watching. Very intrigued. Bombastic has given out the most info so far for SW Squadrons now. I'll be keeping a close eye on you , Bombastic.
Repulsor field was a thing in X Wing - Rogue Squadron and shields bouncing of each other I think. I know Corran Horn flew towards the ground and used his Repulsors field to bounch of the ground.
Great video I love the actual list of questions you went with, I just wish there was more people out there understanding that it's a more advanced version of Rogue Squadron
Question: I notice when you run into something, ya don’t blow up, do you take damage? Or do you just not die from ramming into something. I’m sure you’ve covered this before
i guess the old days of death by flaming wreckage are over , i miss those TIE Fighter days. Its funny how people are wondering about power system management when it already existed back in the days of Xwing
Quick question for squadrons. If your getting shot at from behind can you reverse engines and put shields at the front and do a 180 degree turn and shoot the enemy? I would love to do that if it’s a thing.
One thing to add for buying a Flight Stick or HOTAS The main benefit in my experience from a more costly setup is at first *a larger range of motion*. My X52 Pro probably tilts like 50° to each side while still maintaining a very comfortable resistance. Cheaper sticks often only tilt around 20°, and while some have force feedback (not rumble, force feedback is the stick pushing back), I'd take a more smooth spring-powered stick any day over cheap force feedback. That said even the "standard" $50 flight sticks are definitely worth it, and you can always have your second hand on the keyboard for more input methods, even though most single sticks still have a small throttle control at the bottom. About single sticks vs a full HOTAS (*H*ands *o*n *T*hrottle *a*nd *S*tick) - I think that there is a big immersion benefit (obviously) if you have an actual throttle, but make sure you either have one with little or adjustable resistance. Some of the sim gear has throttles with more resistance which may put you at a competitive disadvantage. Overall though I don't think there is a big competitive advantage of using a Throttle over a keyboard. One last thing to keep in mind - a well-built HOTAS is something that will last you for decades. They are timeless and there is little reason to ever upgrade to a new one. That said I did notice some oddities with my X52 Pro on the software side, where apparently the money only lasted for a few hours of QA testing. EDIT: Also make sure your stick supports twisting unless you plan to add a rudder (foot pedals) to your setup.
I hope they add component set ups, so we can save different load outs we have, for different styles of play within each class Edit: as well as custom games, I want to face my friends without interruption from randoms
I'm a TiE Bomber/Reaper player for sure. Question, for the Fleet Battles Mode. How do you go back and fourth from Attacking to Defending and back? Example, if they pushed you back to your Light Cruisers how do you push them back? From the Flagship?
There is friendly fire, or at least the pilot voices whine at each other when doing so. Hard to verify if it does any damage but the pilots definitely acknowledge it.
My answer for question 50 is the story mode. It seems really interesting switching between republic and empire and seeing their different perspectives about each, and learning more about the Star hawk project
The ship I will fly the most: “The Legendary, The Sexy, The OG, The Badass, The Old One, The Capital Ships Worst Nightmare” Our Lord and Savior (The Y-Wing) So prey for our lord “Amen”
Barrage Three how is it the best? If you can’t aim then raw power means nothing. If you are to slow to get to the capital ship before getting destroyed then raw power is nothing.
I can’t wait to play this, I love games with flying through space taking out ships, don’t see a lot of them but I’m always looking for some on consoles
9:29 I don't know about consoles, but on PC I recall there being a ping system that lets you issue in-character voice commands to your squadmates - these include acknowledging orders and asking for assistance. Don't remember all of the commands available, but I'm pretty sure it had most things covered so you can communicate without needing a mic.
12:30 yeah, the game is huge, and you only notice how fast you're really going when there's something stationary or other ships close by for reference, especially in interceptors.
Hello, one of my biggest questions on SWS is if it has a padlocking feature to help the player keep their eyes on their selected target, even if it is in the left/right/above/below your spacecraft? VR players that have good cockpit visibility like the A-Wing would have a tactical advantage, for sure. Thanks!
4:32 that should be a game mode, whenever you would get a new part you would have to pick it up at toche station but because their low on stock you have to get there before the other players, and to be able to use the part you would have to win this gamemode once. its the battle royale mode that this game needs
This totally has an old-school "Wing Commander" feel to it. At least, I think so. And I, personally, cannot wait to jump into this game when it comes out!
Hi! I am from sweden probaly one of your biggest fans it would make my day if you could respond with hmm because I like yoda and he is my favourite character
Will crashing into enemy ships deal any damage? If yes are there abilities that increase your (i guess ill call it "ramming") ramming damage for example or make you more durable to it?
@@bobsteryt we could get the viion of the vulture droid, maybe have like a red vision, and like pop up notifications of like our shileds and other stuff
There is definitely an advantage when in VR mode. Being able to look to the left, right, and up while flying is very helpful. How much of an advantage? I guess that is relative to who is playing.
What Im looking forward to, what has me most excited and what ship do I want to fly...? A-wing for all the above :P I picked up the Thrustmaster T.1600 HOTAS and Oculus Rift S for this game, super keen!
Hmm... Probably support. I know most people won't agree on that, but Support is usually my favorite class in video games. I'm looking forward to all the upgrades and changes you can make to your ship. I LOVE how there is two different currencies, too! (Since I would never by cosmetics over abilities)
I enjoy the shield system and that the empire has no shields. It shows how the empire is more of an offensive fleet compared to the more defensive rebel squadron.
Good vid mate. Cheers for sharing. I'm looking forward to popping on the Vive and hooking up with my mate and doing something we've waited our whole lives for since we first saw Star Wars in 1977. See you on the BF.
Honestly, I hope it'll be fecking tough in the beginning. Flying ain't supposed to be easy and it'll make it more fun to learn when you fly through space in your favourite ship. At that, you can collect cool cosmetics and skins and whatnot. I preordered it yesterday, can't wait.
bro this game in VR HITS DIFFERENT Idk how any of you can play it non-VR, SHITS FUCKING AMAZING, makes the WHOLE experience so much better. at least by 70 percent
Question #49, will VR players have an advantage over non-vr players? That's a big yes. If I've learned anything playing Elite Dangerous, it's that full canopy ships are AMAZING for combat while in VR. The ability to physically track your opponent by actually looking at them and being able to swing around for the shot is a significant advantage in its own. With that in mind, anyone that is in VR and has a ship with a full canopy (imperial ships might struggle with this) will have a huge advantage in combat with the ability to physically track their opponent without the need for an arrow to point to their location. It's one of the main reasons why i play Elite in VR, and a main reason why I'll play Squadrons in VR as well.
I played a racing game once where you could color your car any way you wanted and put together your own decals to put on your car, creating basically any symbols you could think of and putting them wherever you wanted on the vehicle. I would love to see a system like that applied to a game like this, so players could create their own unique squadron with unique name, symbols and colorings.
Question in the gameplay it shows that you can destroy turrets similar to how Poe dameron does in the last Jedi is it better to do this or destroy the targeting systems?
