I think since most people experienced the infinity gauntlet story end recently, they’re expecting the next big story to already be where the infinity saga was 5 years in. I can’t imagine people were already expecting Thanos to have the infinity gauntlet and a few gems when the first Thor movie came out.
Plenty meat still left on the bone. Unfortunately it comes down to the recipe Disney decides to go with. I'm hoping that Disney goes with more of a homage to the material as they did with the majority of the infinity run. To drastically of a change and I'm done. Big X-men/ fantastic four fan here.
Endgame was a pretty good peak, built off a 22 movie buildup. Awesome casting and execution. Hard to top that. And you are very right about the primary characters. I am a big Cap fan and never thought they would be able to do it right. That doesn't mean it can't be still be good in the future but that was a near perfect run. I do like their strategy of moving into different genres and formats. We'll see where it leads.
Can't argue with any of it. There's still more great characters to come. Feel like phase 4 is them playing with the house's money. They're experimenting, some hits some misses, but the same thing happened in phase 1 getting these characters off the ground.
There are some great characters and stories still to be told. What worries me is Disney actually capable of making great movies any more? That is the big question. Time willl tell
People need to look at the MCU as a whole. There have been some GREAT movies. (Mostly by the Russo brothers, IMO.) There have been some good movies. And there have been some "meh" movies. Phase 4 so far is par for the course. No Way Home GREAT. Shang Chi for sure - good. Doctor Strange good imo. Eternals meh. (Black Widow was meh, but a carry over from phase 3). Lots of stories left to tell.
