There is so much going on in the shop right now that I am just now getting around to posing a new video for this week. It's hard to keep up hahaha Like I said I'll get something going today or tomorrow with close ups and some long winded discussion about the tools. Thanks for staying with us brotherman. I have been getting a lot of people that say I talk too much... like they are so busy with... what ever it is that they do.

Dude, it's easy... and fun! Stewmac charges, like 400 bucks for this kinda thing. You can make one for considerably less and if you like making stuff, well, you got that going for you too.

The trick to binding a fabric top is, as far as I know, absolutely the acetone technique. The sealer is pretty resilient, give it a try sometime amigo

I have never used the stewmac one... is it just not deep enough?

It really depends on how much round-over your body has and how thick the binding you are going to use is. I have a customer that is sending me a guitar for a new top and binding, I'll do some videos and hopefully that will answer your questions

I use lots of tools for cutting that little rabbit for binding. Of course, the pin router is extremely versatile and co do anything that is flat on the bottom provided you aren't following a couture. We used it on the Mosrite bodies and Les Paul style bodies when we aren't following the carve on the cutaway or even neck blanks where the radius is already put in. We use the table router when everything is flat or we have something else going on with the beloved pin router. This auto-adjusting deal is pretty handy for strat style comfort carves or LP carves where the binding follows the carve in the cutaway area. Plus not everyone has a pin router so I thought I'd post this. It's so easy to build even I was able to do it haha

Oh yeah... I do not use offset pins in the pin router but you certainly could.

We just reverse engineered the Stewmac unit. There were no plans we just flew by the seat of our pants. Check out the Open Builds site and see if you come up with any ideas. I'll try and come up with some kind of drawing or, at least. take some more detailed pics if you need them.

Texas Toast Guitars I like StewMac but we need some companies to compete with them to get some lower prices. Rocklers overpriced too, maybe you're too nice cause I would have demanded the manager and let them fucking have it.

Thanks Tom, the router is weight enough. You certainly could incorporate some springy things to help the rig. Give it a try and let me know. I might have to try it too
