You actually downloaded a different app. There's a few using the Dynamic Island name. I downloaded two of those after I started with Dynamic Spot the moment I heard Apple was doing it.
I do not get it why people go gaga over the thing like the "Dynamic Island" it is literally the weakest and cheapest selling point or upgrade when going from previous iPhone, it is just different type of widget or addition to notification bar, and it shows how cheap and little effort Apple needed to make it, if people already made apps for it on Android in such a short time. In general, it just shows how strong marketing can be and how easy to control people with things like the Dynamic Island, making it look like some big thing or a feature (that even Android users want it) and which can be replicated with a simple app, while Apple sells it like a specific feature on 14 Pro devices. For this, Apple is genius, they can make simple things look "special" and worth a big buck, their marketing is just the best.
Well, apple has always focused on aesthetics and nice animations. There are smooth transitions for everything. for example when you maximize a window on windows, it instantly enlarges or flickers for 0.3 seconds and then enlarges. On mac, the window will smoothly (but quickly) expand to full size. These are subtle differences that you don't really actively notice but probably one of the reasons people often say macOS is more pleasent to use and they cant really tell why. Anyway, coming back to the dynamic island, its just a nice cover up for the notch. Its an issue for 5 years in all smartphones. Either you have a bad camera behind display, or you have a black spot for the front camera. The dynamic island is the 2nd best thing to not having the spot, because it hides it very elegantly. I understand that this is highly subjective. If you care mainly about functionality and productivitvy because you make $300 a day with your phone, you wont give a shit. But many people use the phone for private purposes and just enjoy a pleasant and UI thats fun to use. Not trying to convince you to buy iPhone 14. But you asked why people like it and I do like it even though I'm not gonna spend 1300€ on a phone...

I like Apple devices, and I go back and forth yearly, but I like Android more for many reasons, when talking about phones its Google Pixel phones, when talking about laptops I go with Microsoft Surface. But I might really be stoked for iPhone 15 Pro Max, or rumored rename to Ultra, if it is going to finally have Periscope zoom and finally a Type-C.
@@TheChazas Yes, thats what I meant with "its subjective". People have different tastes. I got my first macbook last year and don't think i will ever buy a windows machine again. There is no right or wrong, just different preferences.
I played around with it but I don't see the point. I already get push notifications that display on my screen in that area and being able to pull down the notification shade from the bottom of the display allows me to reach most conversation and media controls with one hand. The island gimmick requires two hands to work well. Maybe it makes sense on iPhone, but Android phone already have a better system in place IMO.
I downloaded this 2 days ago, and paid for the Pro version. It’s a good start, but still needs a-lot of development. The biggest issue I have with this is can and will take over your “Do not Disturb” function. I find this very strange, since there were no permissions asked/granted for this to happen. I also noticed the space will shift throughout it usage. Generally it’ll shift to the right of my center hole punch. I’ve emailed the developer, about these issues along with my settings, and screenshots showing the issue, and just received the standardized auto response. Use at your own risk. Edit: I’m on Pixel 6 with Android 13 QPR beta 1.
Will it be really dynamic in Android? Usually features implemented by third parties in android bring downsides. As apps support, resources consuming...
@@JTxTX that might be as you see. I see it as a productive resource, at least on iOS. In Android might not be that usefull due to lack of app optimized support. Always on display is just information available at a glance.
I just downloaded it after seeing you guys talk about it and I gotta say, it looks very promising. The just got a few things to tweak, like adding the possibility to change the background color of the pop up and possibility make it possible to change the background color for each app. Other I'm liking it so far, I even paid for the pro version already.
Dynamic island in iphone indeed a neat feature to hide the camera punch hole, but I'm confused why people want it in their android, the newest android is already neat and full of feature, I have both iphone 13 pro and Sony Xperia android, I love both, each of them has their own style and features, I don't want my android ui imitate my Iphone
I've tried dynamicSpot. Some options require to pay. And also my system requires to turn off the Quick Ball (android's "touch assistant") to allow dynamicSpot to display on my screen and I'm not sure if we can consider it as stable and as smooth and "dynamic" as iOS'. It's definitely possible to create a performant and smooth dynamic island and many useful features both on old IPhones and Androids, I admit, that's obvious, even this recent dynamicSpot is an example, but who bothers actually creating them for us and still offering software updates and support for these devices? I very often felt constrained to buy new phones over and over again just to get those software upgrades, although older iPhones and Androids have strong enough hardware to have these features implemented through a banal software update. Marketing and waste of money. Keeping people poor and paying a ton of money for small features and always constrained to update, because after a few years you risk not getting support for that device. Things are incredibly if not ridiculously expensive.
I still hope that manufacturers will keep pushing to make the hole smaller and smaller and finally make it completely disappear very soon. You really dont need a hole in the display for some fancy notification animations, because the dynamic island concept is nothing more than some fancy animations for notifications. Its fancy, but its clearly not the only fancy thing.
I downloaded Dynamic Spot first, then some other Dynamic Islands to test them individually. Dynamic Spot is better because you CAN choose what apps you want to bother you as it's mostly just a notifications manager and a dad excuse for Apple attempting multitasking. If you have a lot of apps it's better to pick and choose rather than just check select all like the others do. I have 565 apps so I don't want to be bothered by all of them, but once it's set up you're golden. Technically we don't need it, but the fun of Android is to say to an iPhone user is "it's no big deal, we have what you have and more"!
no, its we copied what you have. they went as far as to copy a brand identifier, thats all dynamic island is. just like they copied the cut out lol. i get copying features but brand identifiers lol. android is a joke to me. ive had it, in fact i used android exclusively from 2011-2016. got an iphone and never looked back
It's just a fancy notification shade which takes screen space, at least the LG V10 did it in a way which didn't interrupt the screen real state many years ago
This just tells you it's software and not hardware. Apple should have made this available for all iphones. You just don't need a new phone to have this.
I tried it on s22 ultra . It's pretty cool. It works with almost all of my apps. Now it's not as polished as apples few apps that theirs works with. However it's quite useful and fun to play with. Plus I can customize it. It works with all notifications, gmaps, timer, messages, vanced etc.
That's because it wasn't built ground up with the system. They did a pretty good job with the time it took them to put it out. It just shows that Apple could've easily did this year's ago 😂
Dynamic island love it or hate it is here to stay for the long haul. Apple rarely removes software features for iPhone, especially ones that are marketed as a “new feature” and put in the spotlight. Dynamic island will absolutely be on the iPhone with face ID under the display, so get use to it. Dynamic island will evolve and get better so give it some time. My biggest fear is Apple ignoring dynamic island, as they do with siri which isn’t even a competitor in the digital assistant space.
Got Dynamic Dot. It is fairly cool. One thing that is better than the Apple version, is that it disappears, when not in use, so you don't have to start at that pill.
@@sodiumchloride6431 It has nothing to do with Android, it is not an Android feature, but just a simple app that shows how easy it was to do, while Apple sells it like a feature and an upgrade going from 13 Pro to 14 Pro. And actually, Apple copied Android and even long-gone Windows Phones, a cutout pill that Android done back in 2019, Always on display, which Windows Phones introduced back in 2015 or even earlier, and Android had it for years now, look iPhones now even going for 48MP cameras too, not to mention that with iPhone 15 they probably going to introduce Periscope zoom too. Both Apple and Android copies, and both copied plenty even from Windows. So yeah...
Dynamic island is just a gimmick till apple figure out how to use Face ID true depth cameras on hole punch. Once they get there they will drop it. No point on Android phones.
I wonder if this would work on phones like my One Plus 7 Pro since there's no camera in the screen.🤔 I can see it working on phones with the camera hidden behind the screen, because the camera is still there, but not my phone.
I wish Samsung would just bring back the blinking LED light. There's already enough room on the notch of their phones. Don't see why it has to be directly on the display
I think the idea could last a while, but it only exists to polish a turd. Having a little dot in the corner that you can interact with can be done without a camera cutout and would be more useful. It's just a little widget.
I don't understand how this is more convenient or useful than the regular notifications and status bar. Is it the appeal of your android phone looking like an iphone?
With the Apple's Dynamic Island gaining more traction, there may be a possibility any future versions of Android OS after Android 13 will have it's own native Dynamic Island, or Dynamic Dot since punch hole camera in Android phones are all the rage.
When I first saw the 14 pros especially the dynamic island, my very first impression was "it looks kinda "androidish" rather than a settle, slow changing but determined iphoneish. Lets put it this way. A businessman with a more quality business suit on this year compared to last year's (still has his tie and shirt but manufactured with more quality cloth)--Iphone 13 pro coming after Iphone 12 pro Now, the businessman is still a businessman, not wearing a business suit though but a blue jean, a Nike shirt, too much hair jel also different hair color due to being dyed to a different color than his own hair color, still looks cool though but no perceived "settleness" now: just like a crazy rapper like "Eminem" (dynamic island + 2.8K action mode) and still doing the job as it has been-- iphone 14 pro coming after iphone 13 pro.
I feel like this Dynamic Island stuff on some phones is pointless, like on the S22 Ultra it seems kinda useless because the cut out so small and out of the way that it's easy to forget, Dynamic Island is cool on the iPhone but the cut out is huge on that phone
Not surprised LOL We literally have apps on the play store that can turn our androids home screen and just bout everything into the look of Apple's. Developers are at work.
Only thing Im worry about is Screen Burn-ins with long icon on Dynamic Island. Oh wait. Its actually benifitial for Manufacturers cause They can sell new one.
i doubt samsung does for the simple reason they are heading for the completly invisble under display camera and getting with the hole punch altogether. plus i susoect apple will ditch it for something else in the future.
I have tried this already it's very janky and it's kind of annoying the amount of alert you get you have to go in and customize each alert otherwise it just fills your screen but it is pretty junky I'm okay without it
I tried it. I removed it within 2 hours. It's a nightmare when your punch hole is in the corner like on my oppo find x5pro! U get notifications that u can't see who and what it's a mess. It only works on a center punch hole
The whole point is about innovation not sure why other companies are following to what Apple does. If you buy an android you buy it for a reason, same for apple etc
Ive been using the app since the launch...its a great app by the way..but as it is in early stage it shows some bugs...which are not that serious but it stops when we close the recent apps and then the app does not work at any cost...soo u should re install the app to get it working..
Once the spot, hole punch, notch.. whatever is finally removed after advancement in under glass technology.. this whole thing will be useless of unneeded.
I think a dynamic island is not for Android because I watch your Lew later video and I immediately download dynamicspot via the play store but It does not work properly. When I download it it works for a few times after two or three hours it doesn't work. And I uninstalled and downloaded it again but the same thing happened finally I uninstalled it Please don't use it as a dynamic spot
I was to curious and needed to know how it looks on the zfold series and the island is in the center of outer thats good so sround the cam but on the display its still centered while the cam is on the right side of the screen i feel the early access🤣
I wanted to upgrade to the 14 pro max but I had the 11 pro max to the 13 pro and just can’t see myself buying the same phone again. First world problems 😅
the Android world is just amazing. I think we can all appreciate the ability to not be limited to a feature because it's IOS. especially in this time when innovation is needed.

It works just fine just as good Check it out it's actually better in many ways because you're able to choose what apps work with it with the dynamics spot and the name actually better in a way make more sense
I have an oppo reno 2z and I look at all these island people like they're living in the past still,why did Oppo remove the top mount popup camera in their new phones, It's the best part of my phone, makes me not want to upgrade because this camera setup is so cool
All Samsung has to do is use the edge panel. Simple. Swipe the side to get the extra info instead of wasting space at the top of screen. Apple is forced to use the stupid space at the top of screen bc of face id. It will be stupid for Samsung to use the same pop up as iphone

It is completely useless. Who wants to keep tapping on their front facing camera and constantly smudge it, especially considering how large most phones are making one handed use more difficult if you have to keep reaching out to the top end of your phone. I really hope it doesn't become mainstream because this is a gimmick. Once cameras go under display this stupid feature wiol disappear too.
